After seeing the trailer for the new Sonic for 360/PS3, I gotta say it looks visually amazing. But lately, Sonic games keep getting worse and worse, unlike Mario games which manage to keep the classic feel even when going into new territory. The first 3D Sonic was pretty damn great, but everthing else since has been seriously lacking. Not to mention the fact that Sonic's popularity has dropped substantially since the early 90's when he was acually more popular than Mario was.

The story looks stupid though. Haha. Princess in danger? Let's just take Mario's gig and maybe people won't notice. Still, I like Sega and Sonic and would really like to see a great game come from the company and series.

Looks amazing. I think that it's odd (yet cool) that Sonic is such a cartoony character in such a beautiful, fairly realistic world.

Let's also not forget Sonic: Secret of the Rings (super lame name, considering it was originally called Sonic Wildfire) for the wii. It doesn't look nearly as nice but the tilt control will be very interesting (then again PS3 stole that capability so it'll probably so up there too)

Yea, the Wii Sonic game looks pretty cool too. I just wonder if they'll be able to capture the same feeling the earlier games did (ie. ignore the previous generation of Sonic games completely like Riders and shit).

Well if they put to use the same technique they used to create the illusion of speed and disorientation in F-Zero GX, then both the Wii Sonic and the Next Gen Sonics will be mind-blowing

Yea, that's one of the biggest problems with the PS2/Xbox/GC Sonic games. It just really didn't seem like you were going fast. The 2D games for GBA/DS were pretty good, since they were basically just rehashes of the first generation of Sonic titles. I also don't like how a Sonic game will make new gimmicky characters and then we're stuck with them in the rest of the games afterward. The only Sonic characters that we need are Sonic, Tails, Knuckles. Eggman too.

Friend of mine rented Shadow the Hedgehog and it sucked ass. I haven't like the last few 3D Sonics either. I am not really excited about this, even though I used to love the old Sonic games.

Shadow the Hedgehog is a whole other bag. Sega played around with it, saw it failed, moved on. And then made a whole new set of mistakes ala the usual Sega tricks.

Yeah I have mixed feelings on PSU (Phantasy Star Universe). That could be good if Sega makes the missions/story not suck. I heard alot more stuff is server side though. I am just really skeptical about anything Sega puts out lately.

Dunno, I really loved PSO when it first came out for DC. PSU is selling really well in Japan, so who knows. Maybe they'll get it right? I just want Sega to become something of the company I grew up loving.

Phantasy star universe and sega have managed to do something, that sony hasn't been able to do lately.

The game sales charts. PSU has outsold everygame in the market and is currently #1 . So they're doing something right.

Ah I don't look at those charts haha. I know it supposedly alot harder if not impossible to cheat in PSU which would be awesome. That comes from having more server side shit. I might pick up PSU, not sure.

Yea, Sega had the balls to do some pretty crazy game ideas for awhile. It's just a shame none of their really amazing games took off. Remember Panzer Dragoon Saga? You know, the game contemporary to FFVII and was considered to be an equal if not better game? Oh yea, that's right, most of you missed out on that one. Haha.

But yea, Mikey I agree 100% with you.

I beat Shenmue for Dreamcast and still have it. Thought it was a really good game. I didn't get Shenmue 2 though. Never played Seaman.

I heard PSU is charging you like its a MMO, but it doesn't have episodic content updates like its an MMO.

PSU is a mix of standard Phantasy Star and PSO. Instead of playing an online game offline, you get an offline game that's viable on it's own, and the online game mixed in. I don't know about pricing though. I'm definetely picking it up. For what system, I don't know. May do the PC route. Or get a 360 by then and pick it up for that. PSU is an MMO. I heard there is synthing, and way more stuff in this one. I know you can create your own combos. Don't base your opinion on PSU too much on your PSO experience. They are 2 different games.

Also, you are supposedly set to a specific character while playing offline, which sucks. You can create your own character for online play. There is also no offline multiplayer.

I hope I didn't get anything wrong, but that's all the stuff I've heard.

I imported Shenmue when it first came out in Japan, Then bought it when it came out in US for the english and bought Shenmue II for Xbox. I think I did my part lol. God I loved that game.

Oh, and I got Seamen, but my copy was messed up I think, it never understood me.
