i thought that too.. before i played.. screen shots dun do this game justice just because of the sheer magnitude of it. Everything is so bg and the enviroment is huge and enthralling.. when that comes into the play, the lil deatils are amazingly well done.

It looks pretty nice when you set everything to max. For one thing, mipmapping works at least, so the graphics aren't grainy like in FFXI. Even anisoscopic filtering at 16x doesn't clear up that graininess in FFXI.

WoW has pretty sharp graphics, and even though it's cartoonish, they have some nice effects. One example is that the sun shines off the snow and actually looks realistic in the way it does it; it's like the way the sun shines off of it in real life the day after a snow fall, when there's a thin layer of ice on top.

I still can't tell if WoW has a night/day cycle.

It seems like it does...but I don't see any clock haha.

It has one, but the game is in 100% real-time. When its 6PM, its 6PM in game, when its 3AM, its 3AM in game, etc.

I don't think WoW makes any use of the day/night cycle except for on-screen effects (day/night), thats why they couldnt be bothered to add in a real cycle.

Of course, if they ever make it so certain things only happen at certain times of day in the future, there will probably be a cryfest, hah.

Yes there is night and day but it works in real time (look in top right corner) move mouse over this and it shows currently time (in PST i think) and around you get night lasting around 4hrs (pretty short) but it all works nicly

As to the graphics being "cartoony" thats how the graphics are supposed to be. The Warcraft world is cartoons. It wouldnt make sense if they tried to make it super high graphic wise, it wouldnt stick to it being warcraft. Anyone who played Warcraft 3 knows this.

Plus a good thing is even with like 34523141 guys on the screen there isnt much lag, opposed to ffxi when its almost un-moveable in lower jeuno at times, and only like 1/4 of the characters show up on the screen anyway at any given time.
