You decide if you're level 45

Play the game if you enjoy it. For fuck's sake...

as blatant as ponuh is.... this is probably the pulpy remains of a deadhorse.

Just some highlights of what is usually discussed:
- FFXI first came out, its original lvl cap was lvl 50. (with no AF)
- WoW first came out, its original lvl cap is lvl 60.

- FFXI takes longer to get to lvl 75 than WoW takes to get to 60.

- WoW is better than FFXI

- FFXI is better than WoW.

- play whatever you want. :)

ponuh, sometimes people like the challenge of getting to the highest level, that's why a few are disappointed in the ease of leveling.

Myself, I quit because at 60 my rogue is just like a thief in FFXI, just taken along for the ride in instances, and because I don't forsee BG coming out soon at all.

yeah, when you compare wow to ffxi, only consider ffxi's content up to 50. When you do that ffxi kind of looks pathetic imo... I wonder what people were thinking when it first launched?

wow might not have a whole lot right now, but i'm optimistic about where it will be in 2 years.

Was it easier to get from 1 to 50 in FFXI? Or from 50-60?

FFXI would have been so much better if we had gotten to play it from launch, so it wasn't a game of catchup and exploiting.

Dinav you assume blizzard is going to raise the cap. I dont know much, maybe they said they will. Still. When FFXI was first released it was not as easy to get to 50. Theres a thread in the FFXI section that shows how limited each job was when the game first came out.

besides, every game get easier to level once there is an established economy, high level players and stuff like that.

Also, it took like 2 months for the first NA players to hit 50 on ifrit.

Back when me, Solalis, Pirotess, kayne, Nesso, Vurin, Keam (I think, was a taru pld), Toady, and a few others were all pushing 50. We were all bitching at each other because so few NA players were that lvl and there was usually only enough to make 1 pt. No one wanted to be left out.

It took me 3 months to get 60. I'm far faster than the average.

Another point^. When NAs hit 50, they did so mostly in groups of 6. When people in WoW hit 60, they did it one at a time.

don't really care but... given blizzard's track record, and that BG which was supposed to be released at retail and is atleast 4 months past, I would guess you won't be seeing hero classes for a while longer.

I'd give hero classes another year before they are seriously close to coming out...

right now all they said about hero classes is "hero classes"... lol~

I just hope they work on server stability first. ;)

And they have said 5-15 more levels about hero classes and that they will have flying mounts for heros. My guild has an ex member thats a dev.

19 days playtime for me to get level 60. A lot of that was spent backtracking and helping people, so, probably from launch I could have made 60 in 2 weeks if I played 24x7.

To me, the thing isn't so much that WoW is easier or harder than FFXI leveling, it's that FFXI you level from 8 to 69 killing the same thing... crabs. They use the same moves and the same graphics and you sit in the same spot for hours on end doing the same thing. At least with WoW, you don't really spend more than a couple days in the same zone and even then you tend to move all about the zone and do different things.

The problem with 60 is that the game starts to suck. You have to organize raids that depend on gathering up a minimum of 5 people, but usually 10. 15 if you want to do uBRS and 40 for the other raid instances. Even within a good guild it takes a lot of effort to put these things together and there isn't a lot of interesting things to do in the meantime. If I wanted to do that, I would have never left FFXI.

I do enjoy the level 1-60 stuff still and my 2nd character is level 50 now. I also have 3 characters that are level 20ish. They really need to add some things to relieve the boredom of level 60 waiting for a party/raid group (the worst part of FFXI) or I'll probably look to leave WoW at around the 6 month mark (FFXI I was in for about 10 months, 7 months for SWG).

Of course, it's been more than 3 months since I cancelled FFXI, so, there is no returning for me. I'll probably stay with WoW until something else comes along.

Sorry to hear that imanimd...

I had the same problem with nothing to do and joining pickup raids for lvl 60 crap.... (pickup raids is where all loot drama begins).

But now more people in our guild have reached 60, and our nice reputation has gotten more guild members, so we have about 10 regular members. We run raids almost daily (to the point where we DO get sick of them, haha).

Did, uBRS the other day with 12, and only about 3-4 rezzes the whole time (my fault mostly since i was dying during pulls, haha)

My guild has about 52 level 60s, is extremely organized with a DKP system, 3 raid nights, and in-guild pickups constantly.

I haven't really had any problems getting in a raid any night I want to. Heh, I'm a Druid and there is much more demand than supply there. The problem is there isn't anything I really want to be doing in the meantime. Kinda like sitting in Jeuno trying to form a party or waiting for an invite (which I really hated).

My guild has about a dozen level 60's now and they are doing a fair amount of raiding lBRS and Stratholme. I was the 3rd one to 60 and did a lot of pickup raids before the guild had the manpower to run in guild raids. There isn't much I still need out of those instances. I go along to help and all, but, where's the next thing for me to do? I've done uBRS and MC, but, not Onyxia's Lair.

Guess I'm just lacking motivation. Don't get me wrong, the content 1-60 is great. The BGs will be a nice addition. Just that they need to add more things for the level 60 folks to do that they don't need a raid group to do it. That was the big selling point of WoW for a lot of people.

Well 60 druids in general have it kinda boring. Rogues want LBRS for 2 SC pieces, Scholo for 2, Strat for 2, UBRS for Deathstriker and SC Body(and finkle skinner ftw), etc.

Druids have much less desire to do any of those instances...there just isn't any really good druid gear up there other than wildheart.

Think Wildheart there's 3 lBRS, 2 Scholo, 2 Strath, 1 uBRS. Generally speaking, caster Druid gear doesn't drop. Most leather gear is more for Rogues. Weapon wise, I use a staff with as much +int and +stam as I can get. Weapon isn't nearly the motivation for me as it is for a Rogue, true.

So, endless farming of those instances for Wildheart gear. The quests are mostly done. I guess compared to all the Baal Runs I did in d2, Krayt hunts in SWG, and NM's I camped in FFXI, this is probably the most entertaining. PvP when I can get it.

I can't wait for battlegrounds ;)

Wildheart is as follows:

Head - Darkmaster Gandling (Scholomance)
Shoulders - Gizrul the Slavener (Lower Blackrock Spire)
Body - General Drakkisath (Upper Blackrock Spire)
Bracers - Wailing Banshee (Stratholme - Baron Side)
Hands - Smolderthorn Seer (Lower Blackrock Spire)
Belt - Bile Spewer and Venom Spewer (Stratholme - Baron Side)
Legs - Baron Rivendare (Stratholme - Baron Side)
Feet - Mother Smolderweb (Lower Blackrock Spire)

Only at 3 of the 8 so far (vest, bracers, and belt). The trick is getting my guildies to do LBRS runs.

well ive been playing for 4 weeks and im lvl 43 now i got to lvl 56 Summoner in under 4 weeks on ffxi

anyhow no need to rush if you want to be well rounded you should take your time, i did uldaman instance last nite man that rocked (litereally all those rock guys were badass) we wiped twice but killed the boss :D

best to just play how you like i notice paladins, rogues and hunters tend to level the fastest, druids, priests and warriors are slower with other classes in the middle.
