Looks like I will have to check WoW out to see if it will be a suitable replacement for FFXI and begin its place in owning my life. I have always loved the Warcraft series and I think this game will very enjoyable. I only hope it is more complex/challenging than City of Heroes. I like FFXI because it does it's best to weed out the crappy players.

lol no, player does not become your pet. If you played EQ this is like an uber Call of Hero spell.

For example lets say the whole linkshell is in sky ready to kill Kirin, then all the sudden Whisp logs in in Windurst and is all like "omg I want to come too"

The warlock finds 2 other players and starts the spell/ritual, and it would summon Whisp and teleport him from Windurst all the way to where the Warlock is at (Kirin room)

Just a form of transportation.

This game seems to be a nice mix of Diablo II and FFXI. You can tell the Diablo influence from the "Talent Tree" and the different skills (like the paladin's auras and seals, the warrior's shouts). The FFXI aspect of the game is in the community feeling (auction house, different towns, grouping for exp).

I love the fact that you can have your own mounts, which is an improvement on the chocobo mode of transportation. And each race gets its own mount, how cool is that. I also love that you don't have to have a full party of 6 to gain exp. That is a vast improvement over FFXI. I look foward to parties of 2-3, and not having to wait around for that elusive whm or brd.

The length/difficulty seems to be somewhere inbetween Diablo II and FFXI. You could powerlevel in Diablo II and be at lvl 50 in like 3 days if you wanted. That's too fast. In FFXI, however, it takes a ridiculous amount of time to get past lvl 50, and if you want to get multiple jobs up to lvl 75, you better set aside years of your life. That's too slow, IMO. I think WoW will be a nice compromise.
