Hccmike, my point was this:
People are comparing a 2 year old mmorpg with 2 expansions to a new mmorpg with none. This is denial maybe?
My post was talking about when the level cap of ffxi was 50, what would you have done then? 2 years down the road in wow, people will say "what would we have done when the level cap was 60". That's when you can start comparing content.
You guys only talk about how old ffxi is when it favors ffxi, but when you talk about lack of content in wow, you conveniently leave that out.
Also, I got my black mage to 75 in ffxi. I got rank 10 and I got my airship pass(of course). I had decent gear and I killed a 'few' HMNs, and I got sky. After that, there was nothing that I 'wanted' to do. I didn't want to go to Dynamis and get bitched at if I needed to go afk, or show up 5 mintues late. I read your forums and it really didn't look like fun (no offense). That's also the same reason I won't be doing many raids in WoW, but, the difference is that there will be other things to do, on my own schedule, and just with my friends.
The last straw in ffxi though was trying to level up SMN in the newer ps2-crowd. I just couldn't take being forced to party with rude inconsiderate kids or snoddy JPs who wouldn't want a smn anyway, let alone a NA one. Also smn was a huge let down for me, it was the main reason I wanted to play ffxi in the first place. It was my favorite thing in all FF games.. but a huge dissapointment here. But .. In WoW you can solo, or duo with a friend (which I am doing), and it is fun. It may not be challenging, but neither was ffxi seriously. It was just tedious leveling up. If you want to compare raids to Dynamis, I don't think molten core or any future raids will be easy in WoW. Don't forget Dynamis wasn't added until almost 2 years alter, so we'll come back to that subject in 2 years.
Also, this may be minor, but what are you going to do with your gear in ffxi? How is all that gear going to pay off for you? In WoW, you can at least use your gear in pvp while waiting for new content. When ranking system is in, that will be interesting.
So anyway, WoW and ffxi may both be mmorpgs, but they're so different I guess they aren't comparable. To me, wow is a lot more fun and laid back, and ffxi is not hard, but long and tedious, and it just doesn't pay off for the shit you need to put up with. It's just my opinion though. Someday you'll be burned out on ffxi, and when you do, try WoW, it will be very refreshing
