Since most people either have this or are getting it now, I just want to know what server you're going to? (I know this could go in the other thread, but its 10 pages long and everything is getting thrown in with all the other stuff about people trying to download it.) And is it PvP or not? I'm not sure yet if I'm a fan of the free PvP idea, I know Cyn is really against it though, since she already put up with it in DAoC. |

We didn't miss that - which is why the question is coming up as to whether that is free pvp server or what. I really don't want to go someplace where I'm happily doing a quest or in a group and have a bunch of idiots come along and kill me just for the hell of it. More info please Cyn |

We're just trying it out Yarr. :P I'm heading over to try mainly because a lot of other people are, and it will be fun for me during the day while most of you people are at work and asleep and I'm alone in FFXI anyway.
I'm not done with FFXI yet, so not leaving. :P |

I know I'm not leaving FFXI - there is too much I want to do and the game still rocks for me. I know when I left DAoC I was already kinda bored with the game, I'm not with FFXI. Also DAoC was heavily focussed in pvp and I'm not a big fan of that -- I have a feeling WoW going to be the same. Just want to try it out for giggles and grins tho. Cyn |

It's a PVP server, yes. But the thing is. PVP is not at all like you're imagining. The only difference is that you have the option of "dueling" people of your own faction. In order to duel, you have to turn PVP on, and accept the duel. If you lose, you're defeated but don't die. If you were looking to escape the chaos of contested zones, well. Those are in the PVE version too. Server 13 of US EST is where I'm at. |

Yeah, i was just reading about how you had to "turn it on" with the /pvp command. I was also reading about the idea of raiding enemy towns and defending them, it does sound fun lol. But I'd like to be able to stay away from that when I feel like it too. :P |

You can, just with the PVP server, you have the option of doing those things. Which I think is great. The human and dwarven (and I think gnome) are all pretty close to each other, while the Night Elf (me) is right by all the horde cities. lol |

I was playing with 2 options -- do u get to have more than 1 in the testing? I'm considering Nightelve/Hunter and Hume/mage. My only problem with Nightelve is that kinda looks ugly. Anyway to play around with the appearance thing before actually getting in? Cyn |

you can make as many as you like also while in this phase we can see an npc and have our talent points which means now is a good chance to play with what they do. in the real version we cannot do this. im gonna be trying a dwarf paladin and/or warrior also a gnome warlock and/or mage just to see which way i prefer to play. any questions feel free to ask me ive read like every page existing about this online - yes even ones 4yrs old when the game first began dev (i just dont check me emails enough >< ) |

If we get into open Beta, I might give PvP server a try. But I think when the release comes out, I'll most likely stay on PvE. You can do the dueling on PvE server as well. They did have groups raiding other people's areas when we played the stress test last time. |

By the way, when you guys get to play, pick a trade skill fast. Materials drop from mobs, so it's easy to skill up. They won't drop if you're not looking for that item to skill on. I chose first aid. lol Really handy. |

I'm not going to finish downloading this til AFTER Dynamis... Sucks. And then I have University tomorrow, so I can't play then either, lol. I intend to make a Human Paladin and call him Ket, just for fun. :P Was going to try a mage of some kind too, but they had to go and make it complicated. Can't just have White/Black magic, noooo.... Gotta make it confusing. I have no idea what all the different mages are supposed to be, lol. (PS: I was reading up on how guilds can wear like a guild uniform kinda thing, once we have enough people in there, make a guild, i want one, lol.) |
