Cool ss :) Looks like they did like FFXI beta. GM were porting us to different HNM locations. MOst people were lev 40 or so. So we were all hitting those for hours until they finally died heh.

Yeah the ones on the Closed Beta servers were just plain sick. Even with all the level 60's around it was mass carnage. Some of the endgame content is literally gonna take over 100 level 60s to kill. Organizing these fights is gonna make organizing dynamis or Kirin fights look like childs play.

I'm getting more excited about this game every day ^^.

The difference between these fight and FFXI are like FFXI and DAoC.


Dynamis is hard because there are ALOT of monsters. Not because there is one hard monster.

WoW is a zerg fest PvE game as far as I can tell (im no expert). This means you just gather up 100+ people, point them in the right direction and consume any monster in your way.
You dont organize groups, you dont do much more than plan a route. No worry about timer mobs, having to many of X job, having to little of Y job. Just bring as many people as you can and hit it as fast as you can.

Dynamis and FFXI HNMs are alot more complicated because they require a specific battle plan and tactic or youre dead.

Then again this is just another bold example of Hardcore Vs Softcore.

actually, for the big monster fights, you generally bring mages (blm) priets (whm) warriors (tanks) and paladins (kinda like rdm). sounds like any hnm hunt. of course you have others but those are the main classes.

Sorry, I didn't choose my words very well. I know that Dynamis takes a lot of work to make a successful run. I was just referring to the manpower required. You can do any of the 4 starting Dynamis with about 50 people and Kirin with 36. May be looking at needing 100's of people for this.

I do agree that WoW is a much lighter game. When I'm old and grey, I'll probably look back and think of FFXI as a better game. I think that for a lot of us, it's just that FFXI had it's day in the sun, I had a lot of fun playing it, and now it's time to try something different.

actually the big dragon "hnm" they have right now is crazy hard. The only group that has even taken a chunk out of it had a pretty complex plan. I've seen the vids of groups with more people that get wiped in mere seconds.

It may not be as complicated as dynamis but with double the people, it balances out especially b/c with the amount that goes to dynamis, no one can even listen to the don't move when you enter stuff.

Ive never once heard the term "zerg" in FFXI.

Im sure its going to be very comon in WoW.

Not that it takes away, its just a different style of fighting.

It's different style of game design.

EQ = zerg
WOW = zerg
FFXI = you can't zerg since alliance is limited to 18. Yes, you can have 50 people sitting on the side line waiting but only 18 people can dmg a mob at one time.

Well, Yarr was using an example of Dynamis, and in dynamis more than 18 can attack a single creature....

But, I guess it would be fair to then compare Dynamis to a really hard instance dungeon... Just lots of hard monsters and needing good crowd control and grouping... (not just zerging)

When it comes to HNMs, there is always the zerg option i guess in WoW, as opposed to FFXI, but I don't know exactly how these HNMs work anyway, in WoW.....
