Arg Dozi, you beat me to it :)

Read that guys, and you'll realize how much Ballista sucks. ( If anyone ever liked it  )

the only issues i have with that system is that you kill these stupid amounts of horde to get up to a high rank, then you have to buy gear with your gold to use. Then say, you take a break for a day or tw or have a vaction. You lose it al because you will lose your rank. I'm not sure how I would suggest a fix for this but I'm just worried about it.

Thats what's gonna keep people playing in Battlegrounds.

Ballista always sucked. Especially now, since they added ranking, all the JPs run away like pussies if it's anything but a 1v10 (and you're the "1").

Balista was fun at first, just because FFXI had NO PVP and because you could kill your friends. But after a few times it just got plain boering. I cant wait for honor system

It probably won't be that easy to lose your rank, well, hopefully it won't be :/

Also your own rank compared to your target's rank gives you more honor, so if you drop a rank or 2, try to hunt the people who are higher rank and it will go up faster. I think it might even out in the end... <.<; Of course the highest ranks, like the top 3 will be really hard to hold on to.

My biggest problem is how they're rewarding ganksquads. Why give a bonus to have 3 or more people kill 1 guy? lol And the 'honorable' PvPers will be ones who farm people 7-8 levels lower than them, since they're still green and give honor even though they can't really defend themselves.

It will be quite easy to lose rank, simply because rank isnt based on the amount of points you have, but its based on the amounts of points you have COMPARED to everyone else.

I guess it kind of sucks that the nice rewards for really high ranks can only be used if you ARE that rank... but it also estabilshes a true "reward" system for those that really put in the most time into the game... heh.

(aka. the 24/7 players will be the ones up there, heh)

I'm sure it will probably be a bell curve type thing where there will be many ppl at mid ranks, but very few at high rank. And I'm also sure they aren't making this new equipment end-game-better-than-all gear.... ;)

fester.. Blizzard wont regulate ranks at all.. its completely dependant on the players. There is a certain allowance in each rank and if someone passes you up, you get pushed out. So if you don't play as much, you lose. Thisa system is the hard-core players system.

I know that, but in the description it says rank is a factor in how many honor points you get. So naturally someone with low rank will get more honor points for killing someone who is high rank, letting new people catch up faster, since the high rank people get less points for killing noobs.

I also think I remember something about the points resetting at the end of the week or something? and then you compete for rank, not number of total points. I don't think someone who has played for 2 years would have 2 billion honor points, then a new player can never get anywhere near that. Anyone who buys the game a year later would be stuck in last place and that would be a good way for people to quit/not join at all and make the game die before its time.

I'm not suggesting that a noob can push people out of 1st place in a few days, I'm just saying you probably won't fall desperately behind after a day or 2, and if you do, killing a high rank person will earn you more points to catch up faster than killing a low rank.

But who knows, maybe it really will suck.

couldn't you just make a level 2 horde and a level 1 alliance and just have the alliance kill the horde over and over again?

Edit: I did not read the article so please forgive me if I just said something stupid

lol u should read it, they break it down pretty nicely.

and no, after killing the same person so many times u get less and less points for them until u eventualy get nothing for killing them. this prevents killing a group, and camping them for hours just cuz they give u points.

Which also seems retarded... because then you don't get that many points for "defending" a town.....

So essentially the honor system will probably turn into large groups just farming cities and towns... (and of course making corpse runs).... and as to trying to defend the town? its pointless (sorry for the pun), u might as well hit anothe rtown and farm guards there for points.

Of course, unless a player kill counts as a lot more honor points than an NPC kill of same lvl.

I think that most points will be awarded through Battlegrounds. That would pretty much solve the problems you've listed above.

I think the counter is going to be Battlegrounds PvP being incredible amount more honor than normal kills. You can do a 5 man gank squad, but 1 guy can do BF and get more Honor than the 5 people combined in that time. The honor for killing greens should be to think "why should I kill that 40" not "lets kill everything is sight."
