Did you ever see the poll concerning political ideologies of news reporters? If I remember correctly, it was like 80% liberal. That's right, for every conservative reporter there are 4 liberal ones. The media DOES have a left-wing bias in general, Fox is one of the few exceptions. Personally, I like hearing O'Reilly, Coulter, and Limbaugh as exposure to the "Blah blah blah, Bush is stupid and is going to get us all killed blah blah" screed tends to get annoying after a while. To clarify, I myself am an agnostic. A lot of my views are fairly similar to what Dinav, Sniffles and even Ruby have already said. I will not put down your religion. (Although I must say I was very uneducated when I was younger; I grew up in an Asian Buddhist household and while I was *required* to pray to certain gods and goddesses and attend temple every few months, I never really bothered to learn the purpose and ideals of my own religion. Hell, I even attended one of those Christian day-care type schools when I was young, where they show those Bible cartoons, haha.) If there is a god and you believe in him, power be unto you. But I am very much a realist in my views that if you go out of your way to put people down for any reason, be it homosexuality, different beliefs or even race, then you are truly a tremendous dredge on our society.

I think Rein put it best, I believe people are naturally born happy, and it is their societies that curb and shape their beliefs and ideals. If you are of a certain religion, just think of this, let's say you were raised until different beliefs, and you followed them, how can you say any religion is correct? Also, to whoever stated that they were raised in a *good* environment and implied that this was brought upon by their beliefs, this is pure bullshit. I know and I'm sure you do too, that there are people living *good* that are hardcore atheists, or people that live in complete poverty and may be devout believers, that's not factor in what is true or not.

This is just to Foss and Unick, this thread was started as a discussion and proposedly *friendly* debate, but you two have done plenty of blatent (and rather blind) condescending, implications, and just plain bad attitude. I'm not fully educated in either science nor religion, but I am sane enough to notice that your discussions are full of hypocrisy. Honestly, what you believe in if fine, but when you make comments like this it just shows how shortsighted you are as a person. I thought a lot of the earlier posts were very enlightening, albeit long and arduous at 6am but a lot of the latter were nothing but power trips and self righteous blasphemy (Man I love that word) Hell, if anyone is versed in the beliefs of Buddhism I would love to learn more about it; I do believe religion was created as a tool to control, but while there have been much pain and suffering from it, a lot of people's lives have turned out for the better. Hypocrisy is the one true religion!

Actually, I love science. The more physics and astronomy I learn, the more my faith in God is affirmed. Why? Because the more i know how the universe works the more I realize how NOT random it is. If something is not random then it's obviously planned out and this signifies intelligence to me. So something must have planned out this little sandbox we call a universe and that can only be God because it sure wasn't anyone like us. Do i understand the plan? Heck no, but maybe I will someday.

and your infinitely sided dice would be different, you didnt say the earth has an infinitely small chance to exist just a really slim chance. all im saying is if you think god must exist because the earth has a slim chance to exist yet does seems flawed. think of a finitely sided dice rolled infinitely many times, you will indeed get every number. i believe that the universe is infinitely large, and because of that i believe somewhere along the line a planet close enough to a sun with the right resources etc. to breed life was bound to exist and furthermore that many many many planets like this are in the universe (seems kind of short sided when people say the earth is the only planet with life on it in an infinite universe).

I agree with unick on the fact that im sick of "minoritys" getting special privledges and im sure most minoritys are too. It just singles them out and all they want to do is be accepted. Just live and let live who gives a damn about what the person next to you believes, feels, and what color or race they are. Anyone can be a friend with anyone if you have commone grounds. We as America however need to STOP bending over backwards for other cultures and embrace our own. hispanics are going to be the majority in this country soon. I saw a population trend graph thing a while back that showed that white ppl were being born and dieing at the same rate meaning there is no growth in white population numbers but hispanics are being born more then dieing and african americans are dieng more. I dont know how true it is as i dont remember the source it came from but its interesting non the less.
