hahaha I didn't realize it was this recent: Quote: Full autonomy was only granted by the Canada Act 1982, under which the Parliament of the United Kingdom relinquished all authority to legislate for Canada.
Britain was legislating in Canada until 1982? I always thought it was in the 1860s. Can someone confirm this? |

Wikipedia isn't always the most accurate source. Yeah if thats true, lolz. Well at least they can make decisions without asking Britian for permission now. They still have the Queen of England on their currency though lol. That was the major sticking point of the Canadian printing business owner me and my brother were talking to in a bar in Munich. |

Our two dollar Bill did have the queen on it, but we have two dollar coins now. Personally I like that we have the queen on some of our currency. Its part of our heritage. |

America WAS an English colony as well. Not everyone here is from England though and our country is way past that relatively crappy stage of our history. We had other retarded shit to go through after we fought for our freedom from Britian of course. I wouldn't be proud of having England approve our decisions for 200+ years after a neighboring nation was completely free. |

yeah its true, canada did gain full independence in 1982 The only reason canada was in WW2 was because of Britain needed them and controlled them they were mostly independent, sort of like the states before Britain started imposing taxes and their will on the colonies... |

That never happened. The American colonies were COLONIES, that is, they existed to benefit the home nation |
