Post subject:  Scary moments?

My companions and I got mugged the other night by a 300lb black guy with a gun.
He yelled at us a lot in ebonics.
It was really scary for me. I have this thing with guns, I hate them and they scare me. I’ve never had one pointed at me before.
I didn’t have any money on me, he got $10 from one of my companions and $20 from the other. So he made $30 from terrorizing some poor college kids. Wow! what a haul!
And I dunno. I’m still pretty shaken. In Europe I walked wherever the fuck I wanted at all hours of the night and was never worried for a second. Now I’m afraid to freaking go outside or walk to my friend’s house 2 blocks away. And we were just walking along the street minding our own godamn business and wishing him a 'good evening' and he pulls a fucking gun at us and yells GIMME GIMME! Afterwards we noticed another guy on the other side of the street, so I guess we were targeted. blagh.
I feel so violated =/ I hate feeling afraid and weak more than anything in the world. I go through such effort to make it seem like I'm a strong person.
And I can't even bring myself to hate the guy. I just feel really sorry for him, ya know? It makes me feel horrible that someone has to resort to doing something like that to innocent people cause no one was there to tell him any better growing up. I hate the race issues in new orleans so much.

Anyway, what was your most frightening moments?

My job sometimes requires me to walk around the city in the 12am-4am range. We will sometimes push off service till the next day so we dont have to go to that area. On the south side of Chi in the city, one side of the street can have billion $ business and on the other you cant even walk without getting robbed. Its also sad that on the south side there are hospitals we wont go to at night to do work because its not even safe to park in their parking lot. On top of that IL has strict gun laws so nobody will carry for protection. Plus all the buildings that i got into have detectors so its not even worth it if you do go through the hassle of getting a permit

Just stay away from La Salle St if ur in Chi town at night.

Wow that's scary stuff. I have never been in a situation like that. I don't know how I'd react. I would never try to be a hero if I was held at gunpoint. I would never call a bluff, and I'd do what I was told. I can't even imagine having that happen to me. I live in a pretty shady area and hear of stuff happening but haven't seen it. I walk around by myself late at night drunk all the time. I live about a mile from several good bars, and I never drive to them.

I'm sorry to hear that Mintsy. Its good that you didn't get hurt though. I don't think anything like that happens around here, but I'm pretty sure I'd panic and get myself shot if something like that happened.

Me, Whisp & his brother, and another friend of ours had a whole squad of cops pull their pistols/shotguns on us one time at a video store parking lot. I was about 18 or 19 and jokingly wore a halloween mask into the video store. The employees knew us and didn't think anything of it, but a customer in the store called the cops on us and told them we were going to rob the store. So we get outside and about 5 cop cars peel into the parking lot and point pistols and shotguns at us and tell us to get on the ground without making a move, which we did. It was pretty crazy, but we laugh about it now.

that really sucks. Those guys would have made more money by just begging on the street.
