Edit: and kioto I dont take offense, dont worry. i never said I was christian lol. But Catholisism is one of the many forms of christianity, is it not? I'm not sure about what your particular church teaches, it may not be possible to be gay and in your church at the same time. But as far as catholisism goes, it is the sexual ACT- having sex with the same gender- that is the sin. meaning a person can be gay, but live a life of abstinance and be appreciated in god's eyes for that. Sort of like a trial i guess? to serve god, get into heaven and what not. Basically you can be gay, but you can't act apon the sin of it or believe that homosexuality is right or moral, and what not. And you can ask god to make you not gay too I guess, but if hes testing your faith then he probably wouldnt turn you un-gay.

You're right, but still wrong. Yes catholisism was derived from christianity, but changed a lot from our 'original scriptures'. My view will certaintly be different from any other religion, because my religion teaches me one thing and your religion teaches a different thing. But christianity from Tanakh & Torah is very different from catholisism (catholic bible is missing quite a few books, the deuterocanonical books, and is also missing content).

I'm at work and its hard to write a lot, but in christianity, just the thought of having an attraction towards the same sex is indeed a sin. Also, here's how god treated sodomy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodom_and_Gomorrah

I dont really like Wiki that much, somethings in there might not be trully biblical, but it gives you an idea.

I'll glady talk a lot more after work when i get around to it.

the world will either oversome it's dependence on religion, or destroy itself over religious wars.

I tend to believe we will destroy ourselves, because people have been fighting for so long and now our weapons are getting bigger and bigger.

I just want to go to a place where religion doesn't exist.

Ah Ok Kioto, thanks for the answer^^ Yes I have read the story of soddom and gommorah, hehe. (( in catholism though that goes back the not taking stuff literally debate ))

But yes your right, many different derivations of christianity have different beliefs on the subject.

So just curious then, in your church you say that just the idea of sexual attraction for the same sex is a sin, how would a person, who fully believes everything your church teaches, but who is gay, participate in your church? Like what i mean is. . .

Say a person was raised with the Tanahk and torah christianity beliefs, and fully believes in it. but say he was born gay (( or turned gay for whatever reason depending on what you believe )) - but that he absolutely hates being gay and wishes not to be gay, but cannot help having the same sex attractions? How does your church go about helping those individuals, or are they simply shunned without any choice lol

I'm no pastor, nor have i gone to school to know how to act in a case like this, but from my experience, if you fully obide and agree with the bible and follow it, there's no such thing as being gay.

For example, there's good and evil. Where good exists, no evil could co-exist, if evil does exist, its no longer good.

Another example would be, white or black, if anything is added or subtracted from either, it is no longer white or black.

Theoretically you can't obide and follow christianity and be gay at the same time. I would write for hr's to explain cetain variables but i'll cut it short, if you trully don't want to 'be gay' (no such thing as being gay from birth, its not a defect nor desease, its a choice [my belief anyway]) then by reading the bible and following it's teachings combined with help from the holy spirit and obviously your 'heart', you would change your thoughts and the way you look at others.

Still at work, i leave in 2hr's.

Troll.

Its been established that homosexuality isn't a choice, although you can believe that just keep it to yourself. Otherwise this discussion will derail into an internet yelling match.

edit: but lets definitly leave it at that- discussions on wether or not homosexuality is a choice or genetic could as compy said severely derail any post of any magnitute lol

one of my professors studies sex determination in birds. homosexuality in birds is determined by hormone levels at critical development periods. i'm sure it's the same in humans.

I'm with thunderstomp on the issue as well, i think religion in general is just...i dunno. It can be harmful sometimes to humanity.

lol and for those who are interested in my beluiefs, because i've been blabbing on about the catholic church for pages and pages, no i'm not catholic. haha

I believe in a higher power, 1 supereme being (( for the most part the catholic god )) but when people delve into specifics thats when it gets harmful. Just beleieve what you feel in your heart to be true, not what other people tell you to think. I also tend to be much more scientific thinking like whisp said about the homosexual hormones in birds, i do persoanlly believe its genetic. I also read in an article that females are the ones who carry the gene and pass it on, though i can't remember how scientifically proven it was

There's also a line of theory going on about the development of homosexuality through an evolutionary point. My brother knows a lot more about this than me, but something along the lines of it naturally occurring in order to support emotional psychology. Granted our culture doesn't really facilitate that, but none the less I think that's a really awful summation of one line of queer theory.

Be it you agree or not. Debate or not. No one person is in any position to say how we choose to live our lives. Personally speaking I dare not say or disagree with who believes in who and what. This in my opinion is the best way to stay neutral in that aspect.

Plus it tends to strike a nerve with people.

I apologise if i may have seemed a little one-minded about the subject, i was replying to madi as he asked me to do so and i incluided my opinion in there. I didn't say it is what it is and for all i know i may be wrong, but it doesnt change the fact its my belief. The bible teaches us to be forgiving and non-judgemental towards others, it does teach to show others the scriptures and goodness that it brings, and after teach the corrections needed to be made to purify our body (which is temple of the holy spirit sais the bible). There are many other factors and morals that i dont remember and dont know but its all there.

Choosing to believe and follow is very personal, others can say what the want... flame, scream and shout but it wont change what i believe. Put written facts in front of me, prove with mathematics or anything else for that matter, it wont change a thing.

I have very small knowledge to tell anyone what to do or believe, so don't listen to me.

I willlput a small factual list fo shit you can feed me right now, because im really hungry. lol Cheesy crackers, cheery slushy, slim jim. Anyways in all seriousness though thansk for the info, its always interesting to hear about people's beliefs, wich is probably why I survived so long in a catholic school, i found alot of it very intruiging, though I may not have believed much of it

Not to pick on you again but that frame of reference is really frightening to me, haha Otherwise your stance is respectable.

When it said wont change a thing, i mean it wont change my belief in what i should do religion wise to achieve 'zion'.

I have also said this before, and i'll say it again: My mindset is on a christian, my belief is based on christianity, BUT i'm not a christian.
Being a christian is when you fallow the scriptures, and stay to it, and i dont (i wish i could and would). Though the bible clearly states we are sinners regardless, acknowledging and asking to be forgiven, attending church and participating are a few of the things that isnt obligated, but required to upkeep faith and so forth....

from past discussions you guys know my belief is that nothing spiritual exists. the laws of physics and chemistry are the closest thing to religion for me.

oh and i also know that jack bauer from 24 is god. and also there is a god of bad luck that likes to follow me around and laugh. it's the same god that follows the chicago cubs around laughing. otherwise nothing spiritual.

the more I watch richard dawkins the moe it make sense that there isn't anything spiritual existing, lol.

though I do think the universe would be a very sad place if life just. . .ended after death and there was no conciousness afterward
