India Pale Ale Beef Jerky
Chef Ken Hueston, Spinnakers, Victoria BC
prep time : Advance prep required
recipe type: snacks and dips
ingredients: 1 Top Sirloin Roast (roughly 2-3 pounds)
1 tblsp tahini sesame paste
2 tblsp curry powder
1 tblsp minced ginger
1 tblsp minced garlic
1 tsp crushed chili peppers
2 tablespoons kosher salt
4 cups India Pale Ale (or enough to cover sirloin)
Slice sirloin roast into approx 1/3 of an inch thick strips and place in a
mixing bowl. Pour ingredients over the sliced sirloin and mix with clean hands
until all meat is well coated. Cover and refrigerate. Marinate approx 12 hours, turning several times. Remove from
marinade and place in food dehydrator approx 10 hours.(Optional addition: prepare a smoker with applewood or cherrywood - smoke dehydrated beef strips at low heat for one hour for richer flavor)

Nickg and myself just finished a batch of this and all I can say is this is some ungodly good beef jerky Image

Get yourself a food dehydrator and give this recipe a try. Jerky here from the grocery store is ungodly expensive so I'll end up breaking even on the purchase after about 3 batches.

We couldn't find the sesame paste so we subbed out sesame oil. This recipe has a nice kick to it, but since I like spicy things it's great \:D/

You are seriously very evil. I am starving. I just ate a cereal bar too. But I am still hungry. I can't believe this. I am making chicken kabob, rice, and veggie tonight + fish on the side for myself since K doesn't really eat seafood. The more I think about it, the hungry I get, grrr.

Except for the bed blame Nickg for all that mess. Those are her boxes stacked everywhere. (really... why make a bed if you're just going to use it that night).

hey I make the bed every day and keep the house clean as my desk also so that I am not a sod here lol. :?

I totally agree why make the bed if you are just going to use it every night. Since I am normally the one wake up first, I never make the bed. If we have friends coming over that night then I'll make it just in case they go into the bedroom.

that photo just looks messy cause you're bed is a mess :P the boxes on the floor along w/ my printer and computer have to be moved back into a nice neat stack once you remove your air conditioner ;)

well I keep the house clean all the time so I dont have to deal with it last min if someone show up without calling or something, so I am not that lazy here I get things done when it needs to be done. :D

we usually keep the place cleaner but we had an extremely busy and hard working weekend so we were just too dead to finish things. Actually its been a busy last couple weekends and weeks. I also agree though that theres no point in making a bed you're going to sleep in and mess up that night-I'd rather get the extra bit of sleep :P

U call that messy?!? I could see the floor. I should've taken pics in memory, but before my son left for basic his room was the worst I'd ever seen. Not a bit of floor showing. Even his friends were heard to say "Brian's home - he's in *the cave*"
