I was just going to put this in the You Tube Video thread, but a video like this needs its own thread. Incase you think this is fake. http://www.snopes.com/crime/warnings/bumpkeys.asp |

I wonder if that damages the lock at all or if it would appear to be a perfectly clean entry into the house. |

thats the scary thing. It doesn't break the lock, or show any visable damage to the lock. Its fairly practiced in germany, alot of times home owners have thief insurance, and aren't even elegible for that, when cases of using bump keys happen. For the insurance to actually pay up, they have to have signs of breaking and entering. But bump keys show no evidence at all. A complete loss for home owners |

Wow you'd think that some forensics could pick up on it, like fire detectives can seek out exactly how a fire started. Pretty sick. |

They are very easy to get. I really never wanted to mention this because, bump keys can be easily abused. I own a pair lol ... But i only use it for good, not for bad selfish reasons. Just type bump keys on ebay and you find them for less than 10 dollars..... -_- Just don't abuse them. |

I just don't want to pay money for them, haha There was a great video on youtube about it, but it was taken down. |

Yeah I knew about bump keys a while ago. If I had one I would be a kidney thief. Just need some chloroform and a good knife/scalpel and I am off to selling kidneys on the black market. Profit! |

I can't wait to show my parents this video because they lock their doors as soon as anyone even sets foot outside the house. My Mom lives in the middle of a neighborhood as well as beside two police officers that often park their cars in the driveway, yet she somehow believes that of all the houses and places a murderer/rapist/thief/escaped convict will hit, it's gonna be hers. I'm like "damn lady, calm down, stop watching all that shit on A&E!" |

They are cheap to get, and cheaper to make. I personally have a few of them. Of course, I only use it because I'm a hobbyist. But I first tried it after realizing that it's a valid security concern. At first, I thought that it's a myth. But when I was able to do it myself, I was convinced so I changed my locks. The scary thing is a lot of people are still disregarding this as a myth so they're not doing anything about it. You can find out for yourself that it's a valid threat by reading articles about the subject. There are a lot of free resources including videos at this site about how to bump locks. |
