Am I the only one who is excited? I have the Sirius mostly for Stern and XM for the music. Its the best 20$'s i spend every month February 19, 2007 To: SIRIUS Subscribers Today is a very exciting day for SIRIUS customers. This combination of our two offerings will benefit you - our loyal listeners. As a single company, we'll provide superior programming to you every day with the best of both SIRIUS and XM. Currently, XM and SIRIUS broadcast a wide range of commercial-free music channels, exclusive sports coverage, news, talk, and entertainment programming. Howard Stern. Oprah and Friends. The NFL. MLB. I think both stations competiing against eachother was honestly killing them. Both were having serious growning pains. With this merger idea they no longer need to compete with eachother and provide better service to their customers. |

They are running into extreme trouble with the FCC who are denying merge because of monopoly standpoint. I own stock in Sirius so I hope the merge is permissable cause the stocks will rise a lot. |

possibly, but Sirius pwns all other forms of radio with or without xm. You cant beat the content. Stern is 100x better now that he doesn't hover over the dump button. |

Forgot to mention At&t lol. After the big break up by the federal government in the early 90's , in 2007 they're basically almost the same size again. |

I listened to Howard Stern a lot before he left regular radio. I never got Sirius! I listened to re-runs of his show last weekend on Sirius in my cousins car (on a roadtrip) and it was amazing! I don't know how I'm getting through life without that show lol. The deck in my car is "Satellite ready". I didn't want it only for my car...I want to listen to it at work, but my co-workers with the boomboxes can't get a signal in here, so I never did it. I recently found we can stream it over the net at work now. Time to take the plunge me thinks. |

The only reason I would get satellite radio would be Stern. I have an iPod for music and that is better than what I would get from any radio station (thank you internet). The local sports talk radio here is fine actually and the national shows are focused on crap I don't care about. Stern used to be on the radio in Jacksonville but he was banned due to bible thumpers crying. Then a few years later he went to Sirius. I enjoyed Howard's show on the radio and on E!, but I don't think I would ever pay to listen to him though. |

But remember its not just Stern. Its over 100 chans including crystal clear NFL, NASCAR, NHL, NBA, NCAA. If its the sports you like i suggest you do the free trial and listen to Ferrall show at nights on 101. I'm more then happy to pay the 10$/mo to never have to hear a commercial |

I don't listen to the radio when I am not in my car. I watch sports in HD on a HDTV, no need for NFL radio or whatever. The sports talk here is fine, since it focuses on teams that I am interested in and not things of national interest. I don't give a shit about the Yankees or Lakers or whatever the national guys talk about most of the time. 99% of the time when I am in my car I listen to my iPod or a maybe a CD I borrowed from a friend that I haven't put on my iPod yet. Really I have no need for the radio anymore, much less satellite radio. I can get podcasts of anything that is worth a damn on the radio if I was inclined to do so. My mother had XM in her car and it was nice, just not worth paying for imo. |

I feel sorry for the people at my work who spent $300ish on boomboxes and signed up for Sirius right when Howard started on it - only to find out we get NO signal in my office lol. It happened to a couple people I work with ![]() I liked Howard's show mostly at my desk at work (I listen to IPOD in my car also...I have all the music I wanna hear on there). The commercials for Stern's show were terrible! There were many times when you would hear more commercials than show here. That's what keeps me from listening to regular radio. I can't handle listening to some lady with an annoying voice making her husband sound like an idiot in 30 different forms of commercial all day. Or the car dealer ones with the fast talking guy at the end disclaiming the entire fucking commercial. Commercials in general just irritate me. It sucks that Sirrius still has them...they aren't as bad but they still exist. That's pretty lame when you have to pay to listen to it. |

I haven't let apple rape me yet so i guess i cant comment about the ipod. I also work Sundays so i can't plop in front of my tv all day. As for the 7 mins of commercials on stern every 90 mins, i tend to flip to any of the music channels that are commercial free. ![]() |

How do you let something rape you? Rape is forceful and violent, there is no letting involved. Do you work for Sirius/XM or are you an Apple hater? Anyways there is no raping going on by Apple. I love my iPod and I can't think of a reason to not own one. I can easily navigate my playlists with the touch sensitive wheel and clicking noises without looking away from the road while I am driving. I don't have to use iTunes either, so that is no excuse (ephphod works fine). I have literally weeks of nonstop music and a few movies available at all times through a system that is easy to navigate and compact (fits in my pocket easily). No monthly fees, I pay for the iPod then d/l whatever I want or just copy my friends shit. Paying monthly fees for multiple stations I could give a rats ass about is definitely not cool. Commercials on cable TV are bad enough, but on pay satellite radio? WTF thats lame as fuck. I don't like Howard Stern that much. I sure as hell don't trust some retard at XM or Sirius to manage my playlist or put files on my iPod, let alone pay them to shove their record company pushed bullshit down my throat. I don't listen to radio music for a reason. Yes I know they have indy and metal stations as well, but still thats someone elses tastes... I want to hear what I want to hear when I want to hear it. It isn't my fault you have to work on Sundays... I have had Jacksonville Jaguars season tickets since the inception of the team. So on Sundays I go to games, then afterwards go home and take a nap or maybe watch a few of the other games in HD. I don't have to listen to the game on the radio at work thankfully (I had to do that a couple times at my previous job). That would definitely suck to be sure, I would be sure to get gamedays off or get another job. I am that serious about using my season tickets, I haven't missed more than 2 games in 11 years. |

Yeah it sucked when Hank the Angry Drunken Dwarf died. I don't like thinking that Howard basically paid to get him drunk to make him funny... which is what eventually killed him. Dude was hilarious though when he was alive. "FUCK YOUR MOTHER!!" I loved Private Parts and think the movie was pretty well done, although they couldn't include everything. I haven't listened to Howard in a while, and I am sure he still fucks with Robin and Bababooey. His celebrity interviews sometimes are great. We have Lex and Terry here and they are basically redneck Stern copycats imo... well every shock DJ is a Stern copycat pretty much. I don't listen to them or any radio station, other than the occasional local sports radio every blue moon. Stern did get old after a while though, same jokes about getting women naked over and over again. |

Yeah some of it can get old but the interviews were usually great. It could be somebody I had absolutely no interest in and he'd make it listenable. Or sometimes it could be an interesting person talking about dogshit but somehow it is still good, like James Woods talking about internet poker, lol. The only guests I can ever remember completely bombing were Will Ferrell and sadly, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top who I expected to be great. During the free preview he had Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend but pete flipped out and left and Roger Daltrey was real pissed but hung around and saved the day, ended up singing Who songs with fred on guitar lol. That and he told artie to shut the fuck up ("would you shot the fock up for a moooment please"), which makes him a winner in my book. I think my favorite Hank line was "If you had another brain it'd be lonely" lol I miss Gilbert Gottfriend more than anything. Dracula Gottfried kills me. |

haha DL that was classic when Townshend got mad. I think his interviews are much better now days. Barbra Walters... Martha Stewart... Donald Trump... all have been amazing. Its a fantastic product if you drive a lot(and can hit a preset without wrecking), don't have an ipod, don't go to every Jacksonville game and work a remote IT job every few Sundays. |
