Post subject: | New Dream Theater Album Tracklisting |
So finally Mike Portnoy has listed the track titles for Systematic Chaos (he was going to do it when he announced the title a few months ago). The name of the album isn't DT at all and the track titles don't seem to be either. 1. In The Presence of Enemies Pt.1 2. Forsaken 3. Constant Motion 4. The Dark Eternal Night 5. Repentance 6. Prophets of War 7. The Ministry of Lost Souls 8. In The Presence of Enemies Pt.2 I really hope that this album isn't going to be a repeat of Train of Thought but with some fantasy metal thing or something but the tracklist sure makes it sound that way. My hope is that we'll get some rad instrumental on this album. That was partly the reason why Octavarium didn't work for me (when I saw the listing for that album I thought Panic Attack was going to be an awesome instrumental). "Constant Motion" could be cool as a keyboards heavy instrumental with really driving time. I think that the two parter is what was called "The Pumpkin King" when being recorded. That's the one they invited 50 DT fans to come into the studio and shout some stuff as some sort of anthem rock thing. Each album doesn't NEED a 25 minute Change of Seasons epic, after all. |

I did not even know about this. Have you heard a release date? The track listing looks like it will be heavy on political commentary (i.e. the war in iraq, etc.). I didn't really like ToT or Octavarium nearly as much as some of their other albums. DT needs to redeem themselves. btw Ponuh don't you dislike Dream Theater now? |

His timbre and overall tonality is annoying. He has great range and control despite his failure to articulate words properly though. Good thing the rest of the band more than makes up for his lameness. I can take King Diamond's vocals in Mercyful Fate for as long as LaBrie's.. they both grate on me but are not really similar. Just annoying as hell. I would rather hear a dog bark or someone fart into a microphone than annoying singers. Bleh I hate vocalists anyways. |

He's very obnoxious. He's always annoyed me. Partly because his voice is far too glam-rock for a progrock band (they should have gotten a british singer!) and until the Octavarium tour he was really quite awful live (he suffered a strained vocal chord in 94 and hasn't really recovered until recently). I really woul dmuch rather watch a dream theater dvd than listen to an album these days anyways. |

those two examples are definitely not some of LaBrie's better work lol. He's never really been a strong live singer. Here's a cool clip Here's LaBrie circa early 1990s back when his live voice was much fresher than today. Kevin Moore was actually a pretty good lyricist. After he left the lyrics remained fairly horrible across the board lol |

I've been watching the Live at Budokan dvd lately, and it's just almost unfair to the rest of the human race how talented these guys are at making music. They are each complete masters at their craft. |
