I found out last weekend my 21 year old (female) cousin met her boyfriend on WoW. She has been playing WoW so much, she got her 18 year old sister and my 42 year old Aunt playing it (who recently quit her job btw). I feel sorry for my uncle lol. But anyways she met a 30 year old guy in Washington on WoW. He is flying down here in a couple weeks, and they are taking her car through multiple states and meeting all their WoW friends irl. Then they are going to his place in Washington where she is going to live. Does this sound a little strange to anybody? She announced this to my entire family at dinner last weekend. They all pretty much told her she's fucking crazy. I don't know where I stand on it. Whatever makes her happy I guess...I do feel it's pretty damn strange and I wouldn't do it lol. I do think it's ok to meet an mmorpg friend irl, I just think starting a relationship and moving in with eachother when you ONLY really know them from the mmorpg...or internet period...is strange. |

No matter how you spell it out, its always going to sound super creepy. I remember when Mikey decided to visit Talisin and I for the first time. Everyone thought we were crazy (or that Mikey was a giant man homo ready to rape someone), but it actually turned out to be even more fun than we thought (and no rape involved!). Our whole family loves Mikey now lol. My parents think Mikey is awesome and he was even invited to my older sisters wedding (It was last week but mikey couldnt make it), my parents were serious about having him there, I swear for a few weeks my parents made bug mikey for weeks trying to get him to come down. So yeah it might seem crazy to people on the outside, but really its not that strange. I really feel that the internet is going to be the new social norm for meeting people (friends, girlfriends, boyfriends or even chicks with dicks for Deadlegend) as time goes on. Right now the biggest and fastest growing aspects of the internet are the social ones, MMOs, Myspace and facebooks are some of the fast growing social scene. |

I'm going to visit my best long time friend from FFXI (Conker) at the end of this month in Denver, CO. My Mom thinks I'm crazy for it..same as your Mikey story (giant man homo ready to rapesomeone). I don't think it's strange at all. I'll probably hang out with Ike some day also. We've talked about it, but it's never happened lol. You should have seen my family's reactions to my cousin saying that haha. I think it was ballsy of her to announce it like that. You are right it sounds crazy no matter how you spell it out...she didn't even bother. She just flat out said it like it is, shameless. |

Talk some sense into her. Dating people on MMOs is such a godawful idea. |

No NO! Besides that yes, First time i went up there i felt like a complete idiot when i FINALLY GOT UP THERE Actually I wanted to turn back. But i would have gotten yelled at because they were coming to pick us up lol. And yea everything went well. And i'm actually happy i met them |

eh.. I guess I haven't had any bad experiences yet... haha The idea of it is scary, but some people I think I'd get along with that I've met in FFXI. I think I probably would get along with ponuh, mikey, dead, kayne, taragotan (in doses, lol) and others. I'm pretty reserved/chill, lol |

I think it can work. I met Matti in FFXI. haha We've been married for almost two years now. Granted, I do have to beat him every now and then, but other than that we have a perfectly wonderful relationship. If she is anything like me she will be miserable away from her family though. I moved to Texas, but only lasted a year and a half there. So Matti moved to Ohio so I could be with my family. Now everything is dandy. We make good money; have a little pug dog; live in a huge apartment in a nice area; have new cars (Well, Matti has a new car, but I'm getting one soon)... and sit around and play games together all the time. Life couldn't be better. |

I think its kind of the opposite for me, if I ever met someone to have a relationship with it would have to be on an mmo. Not only because I literally barely ever go out anywhere and I spend 90% of my time on video games, but also because most people you would meet in real life wouldn't probably go for the type of person whos obsessed with video games and spends so much time on them. By meeting somone on the mmo you play, you already know they understand your obsession and share common interests, its just a matter of meeting up with them and finding out if you suit eachother in real life. Its honestly not a big deal at all in my opinion, lots of people meet online through cheesy dating sites like match.com, why not an mmorpg? lol I can safely say if I don't meet someone online on a game, I probably will never have a spouse at all, unless my obsesssion for games vanishes but I seriously doubt that will ever happen lol and mil's life is the perfect example of how good relationships like that can be, I'm very happy for you two mil <3333333 muchooooo |

Dunno about relationships for me, quite a few of my friends got together but I didn't ask for details really how it worked out. I would have loved to meet some of the people from Ifrit server who I spent so much of my life playing FF11 with. I think I am too nervous tho, I found out in summer before going back to uni that a guy across the road from me in my new house played on Ifrit server and we planned to meet up, but I got shit scared and deleted him from msn lol. Maybe in summer when I go to canada I'll have some time to visit people |

Looooooooool. That made me laugh hard for some reason... I've met one person from FFXI a few years ago. He was in my party with me in the dunes. We were both getting ready to leave the group because we both had to wake up early the next morning for the SAT's or something like that. I ended up asking him what colleges he wanted to go to and he said some small university thats like 20 min away from where I live. Turned out that we were attending the same highschool at the time lol. I ran into him in the hallways a few days later. At first it was extremely weird though. We talked alot in game but not much irl. |

For all you know my night could have ended at 9. (which it didnt, im thinking 12 or 1) I was only going because my girlfriend wanted to retake hers and I was content with my 1200. Ended up getting a 1060 or something retarded like that but thats besides the point... Edit: And who the fuck studies for SAT's lol? Maybe junior year when you're still figuring out what the hell is on it, but even then the hardest part of the test is staying focused. You have to still be in highschool of you take that crap seriously. |

I have met 2 women IRL from an online virtual chat room that was like these games, with less graphics, and no killing, or levels. http://www.newhorizone.com in both cases i moved in with them, and i won't go into details, the first one went bad after 8 months, and i would still be in PA with the second one, had I been able to get a job there. So i don't think what she is doing is weird, i had some friends in a similar place to newhorizone, called Dreamscape, and they used to get together every summer, and have a campout, getting drunk and stoned for 2=3 days, i almost went to one of those, it woulda been a blast. |
