Its not hard at all. Im sorry to hear about your friend, its always horrible to hear about bad things that shouldnt happen. Theres a friend of mine who is starting to bug everyone. He has been getting more and more drunk before he drives home. Its starting to tick people off and if he keeps it up, people are going to stop calling him to come out. Its not like he has to drink and drive. I (and one of my best friends) live maybe 5 minutes away from the pubs my friends like going too. He has no excuse considering he could just crash at one of our places. Its just so stupid. why would people take the risk. Its a pathetic lack of self restrant. People need to go to Jail for drinking and driving no questions asked. |

I'm sorry to hear about that Denchi. I usually drink at bars walking distance from my house. People always walk back and crash over here (which I'm fine with). I also have a couple friends who host fight nights (UFC, boxing, whatever) and let everybody crash over there. Last night after UFC we had like 10 people crammed into this small living room sleeping lol. The snoring was disgusting. I actually woke up and moved to the garage because it was so annoying. If I go out to bars far away I'll take a cab. I NEVER drink and drive. NEVER. |

My roommate is going to jail for an extreme DUI. He doesn't even remember getting it...I actually found the ticket in his room and read it to him. He woke up at my house and didn't have his car. He doesn't remember getting the DUI or how he got home. First offense = 10 days in tent city. It's a jail in the desert here where you live in tents outside in the heat. He goes next week. That's gonna suck lol hopefully he learns a lesson... |

IMO if you get a DUI you should have your licence suspended for at least a month on top of jail charges. |

I am sorry to hear your friend died in Boston of all places (plenty of drunk drivers there obviously). The Irish catholic side of my family up in Boston is pretty much full of alcoholics. My uncle is retired Massachusetts State Police, and even he drives drunk (been in the car when he pulled the "boys in blue" card to get out of a DUI before). Been riding bikes lately around the beaches to bars and other houses, and I can crash on couches at my friends houses. I don't go to bars that much lately actually. People have been having smaller to medium size house parties recently, and thats where I do most of my drinking. I rarely drive anywhere with more than one beer in me though (ride bikes more around the immediate area). I do however drive stoned all the damn time. That doesn't really effect my driving though. I think I have been pulled over once in the last 7 years lol. I got a ticket for having a light out on the back of my old car. Almost all of my drunk driving occured when I lived in Orlando and that was 9 years ago haha. I have only had 3 tickets in my life and been in 2 accidents and neither were my fault. Drunk driving is dangerous I agree, but its really difficult discrening how drunk you are when you are constantly in a state of inebriation. People will argue with you when you try to take their keys away, because they have no fucking clue how smashed they are. I have been a designated driver a few times recently. Its not that difficult for me because I greatly prefer weed to alcohol anyways, and as long as I have some bud I don't care much about drinking. My brother's friend drives drunk and eats Xanax like its fucking candy all the damn time. That guy is always ending up in ditches and shit. It is a miracle he hasn't gotten a DUI yet. |

Whenever I have people over for a party, and I know drinking is gonna be involved, I get peoples car keys when they enter and lock them in a safe in my room until morning. It's become the norm thing here and everyone has gotten used to it, you just have to let your buds know how dangerous it is. I've lost a friend to Drunk Driving before, and I intend to never let it happen again, especially leaving to/from one of my parties. |

LOL its much worse here that my License is CDL = (Commercial Driver License). That Blood alcoholic level is 0.04 and Reg Driver License is 0.08. Now if I did drink and drive and get busted for DUI by police then I WILL lose my license for 6 months for 1st time, 1 Year for 2nd time and last 3rd is LIFE. Now I not sure if same as Reg Driver license but its poss. I will check out later when I get back from work and see how DMV in California works. |

Yeah dude it's dumb. DUI's need to be punished worse than they are. It really sucks, this kid (naturally) was the most friendly guy you could have known. I even went out to play frisbee with some stoner friends today and one guy knew Paul (the guy who got killed) from boyscouts. After I told him what happened to Paul he just went home. It's fucked dude. I guess the story was that at like 1:50am an SUV started fleeing after getting pulled over. There was a chase and the SUV ended up crashing into a taxi cab at like 100mph. My buddy was in the taxi cab going home, and he died, I guess he was found in the bushes a little ways from the scene. And his girlfriend and the cab driver are both still in critical condition. The dude driving the SUV isn't that hurt, and he had a pregnant woman in the SUV with him, and she's fine too. I realize people die everyday but this is the closest to home it's ever been for me. Here's the news story too. http://wbztv.com/topstories/local_story_147082617.html |

Sometimes I drink like 2-3 beers and wait about an hour and although even if I believe I can drive, I'm so terrified my ass would get stopped and that I would register and blow over .08 I usually just get a friend to get me, get a taxi, or crash where I am. Sorry for your loss Denchi. My prayers go out to all family and friends involved and that the girlfriend gets a safe recovery. |

Oh...on top of the jail time (in AZ) you get license suspended for a year, then have to use a breathalizer hooked up to your ignition for a year (and you need to pay for SR22 insurance). Also there is about $5000ish in fines, a crapload of counseling classes, and they put your picture on an AZ DUI website so everybody can query your name and see you had one. They don't fuck around here lol. I've never had one because I really don't drink and drive. |

Kluya wrote: then you have to use a breathalizer hooked up to your ignition Thats actually kind of brilliant. Make auto manufacturers install a breathalyzer and attach it the car so the engine won't start and you have to blow in it every time you wanna start the ignition. I mean it would end DUI. It'd never work entirely (mouthwash, and a few other things would screw you) the tube would get dirty (hygiene) but there just might be an idea in that. |

Could they do that on a motorcycle? It would be hilarious to see some dude using a breathalyzer on a bike so he could start it. I remember a breathalyzer in the chick's car in 40 year old virgin, but that had nothing to do with her capability to start the car. One of my fraternity brothers at UCF had a breathalyzer as a sort of party joke, I never thought that thing was really accurate. |

My roommate is actually pissed off he has to get the breathalizer thing. He enjoys having a couple beers at lunch every day, and that will stop it. He's a retard. I would never drink a single beer and drive again if I got a DUI (not like I do now, but you know what I mean). Also that breathalizer thing is pretty hard core. One friend that has it, said he woke up after getting really drunk the night before, and it wouldn't let him drive his car because he still had alchohol in his system haha. |

The breathalizer isnt 100% foolproof, my sister had a friend she went to college with, and he would just have someone else blow in it, granted that pretty much means if you blow in it, and let the drunk guy drive, you are a moron, but people will and have done it. |

I have a friend with 2 DUI's and he still is driving. Granted he has mad court fees, but IL must be different then other states. Just wondering, whats the limit in your states. Here its .08 |
