SERIOUSLY, I MEAN SERIOUSLY!!!

http://www.creationmuseum.org/

Quote:
The Creation Museum will be upfront that the Bible is the supreme authority in all matters of faith and practice, and in every area it touches upon.

We’ll begin the Museum experience by showing that “facts” don’t speak for themselves (click here for a proposed drawing of this exhibit). There aren’t separate sets of “evidences” for evolution and creation—we all deal with the same evidence (we all live on the same earth, have the same fossils, observe the same animals, etc.). The difference lies in how we interpret what we study. We’ll then explore why the Bible—the “history book of the universe”—provides a reliable, eye-witness account of the beginning of all things.

After that, we'll take guests on a journey through a visual presentation of the history of the world, based on the “7 C’s of History”: Creation, Corruption, Catastrophe, Confusion, Christ, Cross, Consummation. Throughout this family-friendly experience, guests will learn how to answer the attacks on the Bible’s authority in geology, biology, anthropology, cosmology, etc., and they will discover how science actually confirms biblical history.

The complex, near Cincinnati, Ohio, will also be the headquarters for AiG-USA and will house the ministry offices, recording studio and resource distribution center. The museum will also feature classrooms for use by school groups, pastors and others.

Museum mission statement
Exalt Jesus Christ as Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer through a safe, wholesome, family-friendly center for learning and discovery that clearly presents major biblical themes from Genesis to Revelation.

This center will equip Christians to better evangelize the lost with a sense of urgency, through a combination of exhibits, research and educational presentations that uphold the inerrancy of the Bible.

This center will also challenge visitors to receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and to accept the authority of the Bible by providing culturally relevant biblical and scientific answers from a biblical worldview.

Main theme
The Bible is true from Genesis to Revelation!

I wish they'd stop trying to push their religion on everyone. If that's what they believe, fine. But they should try to make others do that.

They aren't pushing it on other people. They're brainwashing their own kind because they're deathly afraid rational thought might take hold.

God fucking damnit I hate Christians.

"This center will equip Christians to better evangelize the lost with a sense of urgency"

Too lazy to quote but is that referring to lost christians or scientists?

Blugh, ok I guess you're right.

Apparently the new thing is that pastors are urging kids to let them come to school the day they're learning about evolution in science so they can make sure to counteract it. My Bio teacher this quarter said that if anyone does that he's throwing them out and failing them haha

By the way: If anyone doesn't believe in evolution, please post here now.

what totally just floors me is they are trying to push that man and cretaceous era dinosaurs co-existed and the Earth itslelf is only 6000 years old. I got fuckin' rocks in my backyard that could prove how wrong this shit is. I mean I believe in a higher power, but this museum is fuckin' retarded. And I think it's totally un-christian to use religion in order to under-educate people as well as take their money. I usually don't like to mess with many people and their faiths and beliefs, although interesting it becomes a useless debate, but this museum totally just blows my mind. This museum's ability to collect millions of dollars in order to secure its very existence is reason enough for wiki to aknowledge the existence of a croc-nazi nation.

You know I believe everyone has a right to believe whatever they want. I dont have to agree with anyone and no one has to agree with me. If someone wants to beleve we were placed here on earth by Aliens, fine. If someone wants to beleve God put us here, fine. Its not my place.

The Museum is a little much. I mean its totally out of place in a religous world. It would be like me going out and building a Church of Einstein. Thats just my opinion though, if they want to create a museum then fine. Let them do that, its only going to make them look strange.

Well this is in a place I will never visit (Cincinatti) and about a subject I have zero interest going to a museum to learn about (Creationism). This gets one big who gives a fuck from me. If they have the money to buy the property and build the museum, then let them lol. I guess if I ever tithed actively then I would care about church money being spent on something like this. How the hell something like this is going to reach "lost" visitors is beyond me. The only people that are going to this museum are people with a Christian background. More preaching to the converted ftl.

lol, it's not just about preaching to the converted. Parents who believe in creationism will bring their kids to this place and it might be enough to tip the scales of common sense within impressionable young children towards the Bible instead of science.

Some kids are taught by their parents that the bible is source of knowledge for everything, and they grow up to reject it because it is a weak argument. Something proffessional like this however, with interactive displays and all that will have a much bigger effect than your dad reading to you at night.

Why does it matter to you what some gullible kids think? Coz they will be the ones running the country in 30-40 years, deciding to make stem cell research illegal because the bible forbids it, executing homosexuals, castrating those who practise extra-marital sex or use contraception. Maybe I'm exaggerating a bit , but that's why places like this annoy me, even though its not my country and I will never visit it.

Oh I just finished reading The God Delusion a few days ago, so maybe thats influencing me slightly lol. But this is exactly the thing he talks about, religious people throw science out the window to influence others.

Author:  Eternus [ Wed May 30, 2007 3:20 pm ]
Post subject:

Of course they question certain aspects of science, that is because those aspects refute their core beliefs. If you want people to tolerate things that go against their core beliefs, then you not tolerating them and their beliefs really doesn't set much of an example. Parents can bring their kids there all they want, the more publicity this thing gets the more people will try to refute anything they have in there and prove it as false. This museum is just begging for Penn and Teller's "Bullshit" to make a visit.

Anyways the kids can always take classes, read the internet and find information elsewhere if they are force fed Christianity all their lives. This museum shouldn't be that big of a threat as far as spreading Christianity goes imo. Its somewhere for Christians to go to feel less stupid for blindly following their religion, get some neato souvenir, and maybe give to a charitable Christian organization (there are some of those you know). Christians wouldn't go to Vegas, so they can go to this museum instead to throw away their money to corrupt people.

The U.S. isn't going to start executing people that aren't even murderers lol.... they don't even fucking execute murderers anymore in some places. When they start castrating child molesters 100% of the time, then I might believe they could possibly castrate someone guilty of extra-marital sex (which will never happen lol). There is no theocracy. We barely punish the real criminals here, we send them to prison to eat our tax dollars instead.

I can't help but feel a tinge of optimism about the future of religion, though. The internet will prove to be the greatest tool for change, I think. Kids can be exposed to a wealth of information that doesn't conform to their only other sources of information: their pastor and their religious teachers.

Europe is a good sign. 50% atheism/deism rate with the role of the church marginalized without the need for legal barriers. America may hold out much longer but eventually rationality has to take over. It's inevitable. Someday they'll realize that two people of the same gender in a consenting relationship in fact ISN'T the scourge of the earth, right??

Battlecry is basically a program that encourages malleable youngsters to drop their friends for jesus and grooms them towards positions in politics, government, military, and law through programs, schools, and internships.

There are many, many (scary) efforts to keep America a Christian nation.

The Mayans said what 2013 due to their astrological observations? That would be fine with me I guess. I don't see it happening though and I don't buy into that shit. Religion isn't the only reason war happens and war isn't the only way the world could end. I like the world being hit with a gigantic meteor or something else insane like that happening, because its us getting our planet destroyed before we can do it ourselves. Really low odds of that happening obviously lol. The idea of Holy Wars just makes me want to listen to some epic metal and picture everyone slaughtering eachother over something retarded.

Of course there are many efforts to keep Christianity's foothold in America, they are scared of losing that influence. I expect there to be such programs for basically every major agenda having organization. Do you expect them to give up and let their religion die out?
