My problem is that this is going to wreak havok on the already laughable legal system in CA. Or so Ive read lol. I cant imagine that its going to do good things though. It also shows just how big of a joke the USA really is.

You may not care Ponuh, but she is makaing you and all your whole country look like a total joke. I mean honestly, in the last 10 years the US has done nothing but make itself look like a joke.

I think it's about damn time that the US courts stick to a judgement call. Celebrities get off for the reason that they're famous. Look at George Micheal. He escaped a jail sentence for DUI because he has a tour coming up. Nicole Richie still has her license and did pretty much the same thing as Paris Hilton. I'm glad she's going back to jail. She can cry her little heart out and scream "Mom Mom Mom" until her head blows up for all I care, but she deserves to be in jail.

Oh, and last time I checked...everyone cares about this because it is a perfect example of how corrupt the legal system is and how deserving some celebrities are of a jail sentence. I, for one, am glad that there is some justice left and that this judge didn't pansy out and let her off the hook. Those who don't care about this thread should simply skip over it and not respond. Especially if they find this type of discussion uninteresting.

As milamber would love to tell you, I'm a strong supporting of the canadian worldview. But to say that the Paris Hilton ordeal of all things reflects on the legal system of America, or the country itself, is a fucking ridiculous thing to say. She doesn't make us look like a joke any more than the tabloids raping the royal family for any morsel they can find make Britain look like a joke.

It may be true that the US hasn't exactly improved its standing in the world in the last ten years. But then again, in that same time Canada hasn't exactly done anything.

Youre reading too far into what I said Ponuh.

My point is that these celebrities like Paris are making the US look bad. The key being that it "looks" bad. Im not saying the American legal system is a joke, Im just saying that people like paris are attracting the worlds attention (I think its safe to say that people outside the US\Canada know all about this little Circus Act) and making the us look.

Here's a great example, Talisin sucks at typing. He actually sucks at writing in general. If you only ever met talisin on the forums you would assume hes a giant tard. However, anyone who knows Tal in real life would tell you hes well spoken and very quick witted. Talisin's typing and writing skills make him look like an idot. That doesnt mean hes really an idot, it just means hes got a small flaw that gathers alot of attention on the forums because its the most obvious feature. Just like Paris is America's little spoiled rich kid who gets the spot light way more than she should.

You know what I mean?

Oh and Ive read a little about the CA legal system and how people get ot of strange shit fairly often. Although honestly I shouldnt say really comment on anything and my opinion and comments shouldnt really be taken to heart due to my very smal knowlage of how it really works.

Canada doesnt need to improve its world standings. Im not saying its a perfect country, its far from, but it doesnt have as many public eye sores as the US has.

Sad thing is. Even if she goes through hell in Prison, if she has a horrible time or goes through horrible tragedy, no one would give a shit lol. She could lose an arm from getting shanked in prison or something and no one would care.

She needs to change her lifestyle, and the first thing she needs to do is get out of the spotlight and do things for herself, and not for everyone else.

The tricky thing about the US is that we don't have a particularly definable culture with pre-set values. There are lots of "family first" Evangelical Christians, a large and influential hiphop culture, and a large intellectual and academic community. I'd say that even the most able individual couldn't sufficiently act as an embodiment of all of America.
