Post subject:  So..What have YOU done since you quit FFXI?
If you haven't quit, no need to post, obviously

I quit FFXI, found an apartment, went to Georgia State for 2 years, got my Bachelor's Degree, and now I'm starting at Emory on Monday for a 5 year PhD program in biochemistry/cell bio. The games I've played are: tons of emulator (beat bionic commando, zelda 1 & 2, chip and dales, castlevania aria of sorrow, tactics advance, yoshi's island, mega man 3, little nemo, bad dues, contra, blaster master), beat FF12, radiata stories, dragon quest 8, and oblivion. I even tried reinstalling FFXI about a month ago, played for about 10 minutes, and quit. I won't count that as actually playing. I still haven't found a game that I enjoy as much as FFXI, which is probably a good thing considering how much attention Emory will need from me. Someday, though, I do wish to enjoy something of the same magnitude as FFXI. Maybe FF17 or something, who knows. I want to have a party of me, TS, yarr, shiloh, and mikey in some new game someday. Who knows maybe scyth will show up too..

lol nice.

i havent done much of anything.. just animating freelance is all.. i tried playing some console rpgs but it doesnt have the same feel ffxi did, its crazy but i guess i try to look for games that have the same feel as ffxi but i cant. i play WoW atm but its meh, i kinda just log on to pvp and to give away enchants really.. definatly not as fun as ffxi, to me atleast. i also try to look for games and or movies that the animation doesnt piss me off cause its terrible.. the one thing about being in the CG buisness is now i can pick out every little fucking flaw in games and movies and it kinda pisses me off, expecially if its terrible..

other than that, just drinking with a few friends, rounds of beerpong, beiruit.. small pubs really, beach since i do live in FL its kind of a must.. i guess. thats about it for me though.

Post FFXI...I go on a lot of vacations now, I hang out with friends and family 10x more, I go to the gym and excersize more hardcore, I cook, and I clean more often. FFXI consumed all my free time. I would work, do a half assed workout session on my way home, pick up some fast food, and play till my eyes bled. On weekends I'd just play and get drunk or high all day lol.

Since I quit FFXI, I reconnected with my real life friends. I was the best man at a friend's wedding. Worked a couple shitty jobs, did some work as a subcontractor for Lockheed Martin and NASA. Learned some life lessons, and now I'm finishing up some more school. I've got about a year left before I start teaching.

I'm fucking around with WoW too. But I don't really invest too much time into it. I send Yarr messages of love and then call him an asshole.

God it's rediculous how much closer I've gotten to people in general. I became best friends with one of my neighbors since I've quit, and started meeting a lot of new people just going out. I tryed getting into WoW, but I just can't. I understand why people think it's fun, but quest grinding is teh devil imo.

lol VIVI well I quit game due to work and IRL started getting busy and had no time to play FFXI but I can still play other game when I have time also having fun playing with my twin and also enjoying keeping my daugher busy so she dont cry alot. Work is big thing that I had been doing and making shit load monies again so I can get a damn house that I need.

I have alot of shit i need to get to work on since ive quit FFXI and WoW bores the hell out of me if im on for more than an hour, and i even made it to 70 in time to see the announcement of the new expansion coming soon raising the level cap to 80 -_-

I need to get a better job, so i can get my truck fixed or get a new one, its a 94 ram with the original transmission and i think its starting to throw fits. i need to go to a dentist and probably have all my teeth removed because im sick of these toothache's i think are being caused by wisdom teeth coming in.

Also i want to bust my ass, get on a diet and start working out to lose some weight, then i can find me a hot chick and have some real fun HAHA!

hmm finished school, got married, got a dog, and buried about 600 people since ffxi. Kind of boring actually. I play horsehoes alot, i'm good enough to have won a few tournaments recently. Play softball sometimes too, but its hard to stay committed to leagues cause of my profession. Being on second with 2 outs in the last inning and you gotta leave cause someone just died isnt all its cracked up to be :o

Went to Scotland, picked up a Comp Sci. major, girlfriend, job, etc. just living. Still in school. Moving back on to campus tommorow actually, yay

Yeah, I've got to do the same thing. I'm shying away from math as much as possible and it's going to bite me in the ass hugely.

I lot has changed for me.


I stopped playing because Princess and I split up. Luckly for me I met Sunshine and things are better than ever, especially socially. Princess was very much a recluse who didnt like hanging out with my friends or even her friends (she didnt really have any). I now enjoy living a much more social lifestyle. Sunshine and I make sure to hang out with our friends as much as we can (and want too). Thats probably the biggest difference.

I went to the gym for a good year and a half. Im still in pretty good shape (a step above what I was when I quit, but two steps back from my peak. Sunshine and I go to the gym, just not as often as we could. We both have pretty busy jobs that leave us dead after work.

Work wise I now work in a totally differnt location. I still work for the same company (Its a good company to work for), but I'm now a team lead for a new group of support members covering distribution. Im content with my job (no one really loves their job) thanks to the people I work with making it tolerable.

I no longer live in my parents basement (but I wish I did lol, I miss all that money!). Sunshine and I have been living together since the summer of 06. We have a nice little apartment togther that over looks lake Ontario. Its a crappy building but the apartment we have is a great price and an unbeatible location (two bars within walking distance and my best friends live in the building next door. My mother also works across the street).

Gaming wise Ive been keeping myself entertained with WoW and My 360. Reinheld is an asshole to me in WoW.

All-in-all I would go as far as saying my life has improved 100x since I quit FFXI. However, quitting FFXI wasnt what made my life so much better ;p

I work up to 8 to 14 hours a day depending on how busy we are. I can be doing 2 to 3 runs per day mosly 2.

Since ffxi, I finished up high school and now I'm going to attend a university in SoCal this fall. I wanted to go to the east coast but a couple reasons made it not the best choice for now. A ton of my friends and people I know in general are gone already, its pretty sad but im sooo excited to head out pretty soon too. I also know a good amount of people who'll be in the same area.

Quitting ffxi didn't change my life that much. On average I probably played like 3 hours a day during the school year (and I never actually reached 75, but don't care lol). I always made time for real life, being in my own house for too long depresses me. Anytime I played ffxi for a long period at a time was probably because I was tired of some of my friends atm. Anyway, that's not the case now : )

Also I've been playing WoW for almost 2 months now but come september I won't be playing much at all. I'm not sure how/if im going to reach lvl 70 lol, maybe like 5 more months.

I've quit on and off from FFXI. And I'm much like Kluya. FFXI doesn't consume my life, it just fills in the gaps. Even since I've been playing I'm almost done with my BA in Philosophy, I've been working consistently as a valet, my g/f and I have been dating for exactly 1 year now, I've learned guitar, i still play ultimate frisbee and hang out with friends when i can.

I have my phases where I'm on FFXI 24/7, but they don't last long, I go crazy and then go travel or hang out with friends for a week straight. Then I'll come back to FFXI and just drink and play all night, sometimes nothing beats that.

Lets see, quit a long time ago after a huge bout with depression and relizing FFXI was tearing my life/family apart. I attempted to refocus on school, but I hated where I was going, and was only going to the community college to save money. I picked up WoW. Played it for about 7 months. Enjoyed it, but when my parents moved, I had to move in with a friends family and decided to quit WoW and pick up FFXI again. I played it for about a month and just couldn't stand it and again picked up WoW. Played it off and on up until about a month ago when my account was stolen.

Real Life wise, in the last 6 months it has done a complete 180. I have pretty much beat my depression, and rarely have "outbreaks" anymore. I am glad to say I did it with out medication, but instead used my family and friends to beat it. I picked up a new major, Fire Science. I completed my Emergency Medical Technican Basic class and now a nationally registered EMT-B. Currently I am taking a heavy class load at a new and better community college focusing on a few science classes and engineering classes to get all my Gen Eds done before I move onto Oklahoma State to complete my Fire Science Management degree.

After that I hope to maybe go over to Iraq for a year and work as a contractor for Fire and Rescue. Average pay is about 120k tax free. Would help pay off all my student loans, once coming back to the States, I would like to either head back to where I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago or any large urban fire department and work my way up the chain of command and hopefully make a good career out of it.

My dad has been a firefighter for 25+ years. My brother is considering going to fire college except that he's a hopeless fuckup who hasn't been able to finish a college quarter for like three years.
