Most HDTV's at the moment display 720p, which is what that player caters to. And yea the laptop is a freaken great price.

Oh and I heard that the HD-DVD Add on for 360 is going to drop to 150.00USD and it will come with the first season of Heroes on HD-DVD. Although I only heard this rumor on multiple forums, never from an actual source.

Still, it wouldnt shock me for them to drop the price to 150. I love my HD-DVD add on for 360. Its amazing (and I dont even use HDMI).

1080i looks great. wtfinferior. I hate hearing people say 1080p is sooooo much better. 1080i is still 1920X1080 @ 60 fps. The only difference with 1080p is progressive scan...it doesn't add any more resolution. Properly calibrating the settings on your TV will yield a WAY bigger difference than changing from interlaced to progressive. I have a good 1080P TV and IMO the difference between 1080i and 1080p is 5% if that.

I recently had friends over for a UFC fight in HD, and I showed them the difference between 1080i and 1080p HD DVDs (my TV is well calibrated). Nobody could tell the difference. I barely can.

Anyways I'm going to buy this player for my Mom for Christmas. I brought my 360 over and we watched the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire HD DVD at 1080i (she has a 55" CRT 1080i RPTV). Now she wants an HD player. She has brought it up several times since then.
