**Warning, long post about getting fucked at Circuit City buying a Digital Camera** So I go to buy my digital camera today with my girlfriend, FOR my girlfriend for christmas. We were deciding between 2 models that weren't on display so a guy helped us out. It took a while for him to help us, but it was because he kept calling his managers and none of them responded, so after a while he just went and got the key from them and took 2 of the cameras out of the cages for us to look at. He was new, and told us that, but was very helpful. We decided to price-check them since we wanted to make sure we could get the discount price I saw online. Using one of their computers we found out that I would have to buy the camera online but flag it for in-store pickup, but that we could do that right then and there and go up front and pick it up for the $100 off. So we did, and the nice guy helping us took the camera up front for us so we could pick it up. We went up front and showed them the confirmation number and the lady helping us was pretty slow and didn't really know what was going on. Everyone up front seemed flustered even though it wasn't busy. My girlfriend and I were looking the whole time at the camera box we had just been playing with and thinking they would grab that one. They didn't because they weren't listening to us, and they went back into the warehouse to get a DIFFERENT one. So they match up the online order and our order and hand us the box. I'm crunched for time because I have to go to work so we leave the store and start driving to Chipotle down the street. 2 minutes later I ask my girlfriend to open the box and look at the SD card to see what kind we got with the camera. She opens the box, and there's an instruction manual, but NO CAMERA. No SD card, no nothing. So we turn around, drive 2 minutes back to circuit city and go to the lady that helped us with the final purchase. We tell her we had just been in but she DOESN'T EVEN REMEMBER US. So we explain our situation that they just sold us an empty box. It takes her 20 minutes to finally get a manager to come help us (Mind you... I have to work, I'm not happy, we don't have time to eat anymore). He goes around and does some stuff, who knows, and comes back and says "Ok, well you left the store, so we don't know that you didn't just steal this camera. You'll have to call Canon and tell them that you never got a camera, and if they believe you they'll send you a new one." So I'm like "Uh I was here 5 minutes ago, I barely left your store, you sold me an empty box, I'm not leaving without a camera." The manager was a complete dick, saying that there's nothing he could do. Apparently they don't have a policy where they open the box and make sure everything is there before selling it to the customer, since they never did. So basically if they sell empty boxes it's the customers burdon. We have to pry them for numbers and names. I eventually call my dad and ask his advice and he says to cancel the payment (since it was on a check card) but then also to give him the store phone # and name of the manager. My girlfriend had gotten all that information while I was being angry and told my dad the guys name, Tyler. While I called my bank and cancelled the payment my dad called the store and bitched them out. I really didn't have time to deal with any of this. So right when I get to work (maybe 2 hours later) I get a call from the manager (Who's name isn't Tyler, and I never met even though the guy I talked to claimed to be the manager. But the guy who called me still somehow knew everything that had happened) and said that I could come in and exchange the empty box for the $320 camera I had originally paid for. I said I'd have to come pick it up tomorrow since I'm working. He was not very apologetic at all and was like "Oh yeah sorry about all that earlier, bye." *Click* So I still have to go pick my camera up tomorrow, but I'm pissed. They made a present for my girlfriend a fucking ordeal and wasted a lot of my time. I'm irate, and I don't know what else I can do. I'm gonna wait until I have my camera to complain more, but honestly that's so fucked I don't even know what to think. All the employees there besides the manager and clerk lady we really nice and kept telling us we'd get our camera and not to worry and that they remember us. But the "Manager" fucked us. ugh... Don't go to Circuit City, at least not the one in Mesa, AZ. Fuck that |

Call head office. File a formal complaint. The Area Manager will contact you and probably give you an additional discount. I ended up getting 500 bucks off my TV and a free $200 ups when I did lol. Although my ordeal lasted like 4 weeks. |

Got the camera. They gave us a new one, and it was broken. They gave us a diff new one, and it was the wrong color. Then they gave us a new one which was actually sealed (Probably grabbed a seal on the way over to me) and it seems fine so far, so we took it home. I already have the payment stopped through the bank, I'll get around to unblocking it tomorrow. Formal complaints on the way to Circuit City. |

Good. Remember to stress that you were put into an uncomfortable situation because of them. That you were more or less accused of theift and it ended up being their neglect. Also, try not to act like you want anything, but act like your goal is to prevent this from happening to anyone else. I love abusing customer service lol. |

that sucks dude same shit happen to me a few years back...when the ps2 came i went and bought a game at circuit city i was like 16 at the time just as i was about to walk out the door i open the box and there is cut up porn magazines as the instruction manual and a free trial for aol as a cd.....im like u gotta be fuckin kidding me....i went to the service desk they told me the same as they told u....how do we know u didnt exchange it....im like i didnt even leave the store checkin the cameras...and the managers comes by she can barely speak english and says sry cant do it and tosses the game to me....i call my father...my father comes and talks to store manager...starts screamin a lil lol and we get another copy of the game.... |

I've always made a habbit of opening the games before I leave to check if they are damaged. Only found one new on that was scratched up. No prob returning it though, it was at best buy. |

For anything with wires attached to it, I go to BestBuy. It's just the best store ever and I love it. Selection is huge, prices and deals are always superb, and the customer service/return policies/warranties are top notch. |
