well, the lady w/ the coffee eventually had that award thrown out and mcdonalds actually got a counter suite award for something just as ridiculous.. sweet justice there.

as for all of the others.. just goes to show you how cmpletely stupid and w/o any common sense that the american public is these days. Remember, a jury of 12 people awarded the $$.

in line with this thread, I can't remember where I was reading it, but you know how people always say if you're going to shoot/injure an intruder make sure you kill them otherwise they can sue you? Well there was a guy who shot and killed an intruder in his home who was attempting to rape his wife, the guy wasn't charged, but about 3 weeks after the incident he was sued. by who? Not the guy he shot's family (thats starting to happen a LOT).. but THE GUYS DRUG DEALER. The drug dealer was suing for loss of income because he no longer had a 'client'. I don't know if he won or not.. but talk about stupid.

I've heard about those a few years ago. I still think the most redundant is the fat people sueing fast food places b/c 'they made us fat' *whiney voice*

One of my teachers in high school had a friend, someone broke into his house in the middle of the night and was trying to take off with his bigscreen tv through the window(biiiiiiig tv, normal sized window, anyway)
Homeowner pulls out his shot gun and yells. Theif freaks and bolts, homeowner shot into the air once....few days later he was sued and lost. The thief claimed he was shot at, he also cut his hand on the glass from the window, blamed it on the homeowner. In legal terms, you are not allowed to use a firearm on someone unless your life is in immediant danger, i.e. guy has a knife, gun, choking you, blah blah. So since this guy pulled out his gun at all he was found at fault. However the homeowner countersued stating that his wife couldn't sleep for fear someone would come through their window, and got his money back.
