Post subject:  Toy '04
It’s become a tradition of mine to save up cash throughout the year and buy myself an uber birthday present. Last year it was my P4 3.0 laptop, this year I decided it was time to get rid of the old ugly CRT TV in my bedroom.

I just placed the order today. Plasma time baby!

It's just a 37". I dont' want a monster in my bedroom.

Although If I like it, i'm thinking of selling the 47" Rear Projection HTDV in my living room and replacing it with the 42 or 50" version of this plasma for xmas.

My 47" is nice, but my god it's f'in huge. If I ever moved I'd have to sell the thing with the house, hell if i'm lifting that monster. lol :shock:

nice ive just been out looking at TVs as a matter of fact :)

I have a crappy 15" TV atm so im saving up like crazy to hopfully get a 36+ LCD/Plasma around XMAS time :)

37" is good size to use and I would do the same thing but 42-50" is not that hard to move those and it should be about 50 to 75lbs I think not sure I need to go and look at those and see whats the weights are.

Plasma's are very nice, but i think i would have to go with DLP technology. Basicaly when the Plasama eventually burns out you have to buy a whole new TV but with DLP you just replace a bulb and picture quality is almost identical.

I guess if you plan to keep the TV for 30+ years, DLP is the way to go. Personally I like the size&weight/picture/viewing angles on Plasmas better.

The plasma i'm getting is rated at 60,000 hours. That means after 60,000 hours of use it will be at HALF brightness.

That would take 6.8 years of 24/7 use.

I'm hopefully buying a house for my birthday. ^^ We went to look at it yesterday. 1685 sq ft, 3 bedroom, 2 baths, 2 car garage, den, dining room, laundry room, back yard. ^^
Right now it has no grass whatsoever, so the real estate company put down lots of rocks, and have them listed on the sheet as amenities.
