I dont know if any of you are excited about this, but i'm filled with interest and anxiety.

Wanted to share some screenshots with you guys, and at the same time hear out some of your thoughts about the new microsoft operating system.
I know some if not most of you dislike microsoft's products such as MSN, IE and so on. But this is kind of a major change and with that in mind, what do you guys think?

Here are some basic screenshots:

Hopefully those are only eye candy, and if you have more interest, please go on and see a couple more things about LG.

And here's a Link to most of my information source, this site has a very neutral view on microsoft's producs; meaning, the writer will discuss both good & bad points in most topics.

Please respond with thoughts and views you have on this subject.

I'm glad you think so, Microsoft has been working on this since 2003 officially. So this could actually be a very decent OS yet.

Not excited. Not interested. Not looking forward to updating all my software development tools that are just now able to run with XP. Microsoft can suck my white ass.

Isn't Longhorn the one that will make windows more hardware based? And isn't this the version that lets them have access to your junk? I don't remember...

I remember hearing something about having a 'firmware' type of thing to go along with the OS though. Sound mighty gay!

A new schedule
The release schedule I published in The Road to Windows "Longhorn" 2004 was accurate at the time it was published. However, as is so often the case, Microsoft has revised that schedule. What hasn't changed is the May 2006 release date: While internal discussions at Microsoft recently questioned whether August 2006 would be more viable, the word has come down from on high: May 2006 is non-negotiable. Longhorn will be released to manufacturing in May 2006, according to senior Microsoft executives, though other interim dates could change.

Microsoft already has access to all your files, since windows 2000 came out. So i dont know what you are talking about.

Firmware? Firmware has been base os'ed since windows 98, no big news.

Here are Microsoft's Longhorn hardware recommendations:

Desktop CPU: 3 GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor with HyperThreading Technology 530 (or higher) or 3 GHz Intel Xeon processor with 2 MB L2 cache, or AMD Athlon 64, Sempron, or Opteron 100, 200, or 800 processor, single or dual-core versions.

Mobile CPU: 1.86 GHz Intel Pentium M processor 750 (or higher), or AMD Turion 64 Mobile Technology, Mobile Sempron, or Mobile Athlon 64 processor.

RAM: 512 MB of RAM or more, all platforms.

*gulp*

I really do like the MAC's GUI and file system. I really dont mind how frooty the os looks and yet sharp as is.

But, i'm used to Windows and i major in windows. There are the cons and pros, but i dont ever see myself using a mac.

The programs i use and windows only, the games i play (or used to) are windows only, most things are windows only.

I could be wrong since i take no time in looking up info for MAC's.

Most windows 2000 software is compatible with windows XP (about 99%), ALL hardware compatible with windows 2000 is compatible with XP.

Tell that to Rockwell Software.

I just upgraded to SP2 about a week ago when I got my revs from them...

i am excited about Longhorn(hate the name though). The file system is supposed to be very good, i watched a file from the microsoft site about it, supposed to be very fast.
As for resources, yes, computers will all have to be upgraded to run this OS- since XP requires 128mb, i think Longhorn will have to use 256 or even 512mb.
I want to see an actual beta version out, im tired of ppl posting their skinned XP desktops.

SP2 is a mistake, i will agree with that, but in my 6 years working with windows, i have never ever had a hardware compatibility problem.
Every computer that seemed to have a problem after i installed XP on it, was fixable with just a little bit of research. And turst me, i have worked with such old machines that not even the K-6 processor was recognized.

Call me lucky.

I've never had hardware issues with this crappy os either. What I was refering to was I remember hearing talks of LH having a processoror something else that would have the "CD Key" in it. This is bad for me because I NEVER pay for software...
