Well, i just got playing a few levels and i must say, it's not too shabby.

However, the biggest complaint i have is... The minimum specs are bs.

At the lowest quality graphics, it still gets slow and jumpy. I don't have a horrid computer at all. Geforce 4 FX video card (Updated driver) 512 RAM, plenty of free space, running it on XP, so it shouldn't be having that much problem running the game graphics wise. It's run games like UT2003 perfectly without any real slow down at pretty high quality graphics.

The other complaints are just about everyone else will say. It's too dark. The flashlight and weapon are seperate, so unlike Half-life, you'll have to switch using those two, unless you tweak your gamma up enough.

I'd also like to mention, as great the graphics are, firing the gun at anything, won't give any real gun flash. So if you are in the dark and firing at something, they'll be no temporary flash or whatever. I'm not sure if they ever thought about it or not, or just didn't get into the game, seems slightly unrealistic.

Some reviews say that this game is creepy... to an extent, yes and no. There won't be any real surprises (that i think were designed to be), but the way they do some of the levels later on is cool. However, i might of been more surprised if there wasn't constant slowdowns.. it pretty much gives you a "Something is coming, use this 2-3 seconds to be prepared" warning.

Despite these downsides, the details of the level (What i could see and make out) are great. When the first Robodog (What i like to call it) comes after you, it first tries the steel door. It can't get in, but the dents that he puts in the wall/door is cool.. eventually he just crashes through the glass window.

I suggest those who have a really, really good PC (Or at least, better than mine) to get this. Otherwise, pass on it. You maybe a fan of the series, but you'll probably be turned of by the slowdown of graphics.

Personally while playing it I felt that the atmosphere would be incredible with good muzzle flashes.

Pitch black and muzzle flashes spraying and you can barely follow your target.

But I love the atmosphere...which is 90% of what the game was hyped to be.

This part was a pickle.

Understand I am a very multi-player type player....when I thought he was coming through the door I stood back to the wall and waited....until he jumped through the glass and pinned me into the wall.

Dinav - I did too. But after about the 2-3rd hit, i knew he wasn't getting in. Besides, who honestly puts a big glass window there?..

*Points at Robodog*

Oh...

Btw... someone posted a nice Thread that has a tweak that will lessen the choppiness of the game. You should probably back the file up though, even though you are changing only one thing.

It scares me. I have to turn around every 20 seconds cause i hear things. But you are right. The game is very dark and it doesn't make sense that when you shoot it doesn't flash. But still it freaky i was once surrounded in a dark room and i was just shooting and i need to see what was going on, i pulled out my flashlight and there was hot death for me.

Blah, it's a great game and everything.. but dayum.. I'm running a pretty good PC here, but it still runs a bit choppy.. ~ I'll try modding/tweaking some things to see if it'll run a bit smoother, also anyone here use GSA? (Gamespy Arcade).. if so, wtf is up with it not letting me play unless I upgrade GSA? And why won't it do it automatically as usual.. grr..

But as far as the lighting goes.. I found something that I thought you all may or may not enjoy. This mod adds a flashlight ontop of your pistol.. for light obviously.

(May need to copy/paste into browser, not sure).

oOo, just found a better one.. attaches a flashlight to various guns, not only the pistol.. http://www.fileplanet.com/files/140000/144035.shtml ~~ Check that out.
