We had this discussion in one of my classes recently (my program major classes love to talk about us as students and our thoughts and feelings. lol), and I thought it would be interesting to post.

If you could have any job in the world, what would it be? What is your dream job?

Mine would be that I could be a regular feature on Saturday Night Live. I love stand-up comedy and sketch comedy and I also love improv. I think I actually have some talent at it, but don't ask Yarr because he'll tell you a different story!
So, my dream job would be working on SNL. Even as a writer I guess!

Id be an actor since Im such a convincing liar.

Im almost positive I would do really well in acting I just feel right now I missed my chance. Friend of mine actually suggested I get into acting. The friend was Ryan Gosling. That was like 6 years ago though.

If you wanted to be useful you would need to be a lobbyist.

I actually put a bit of thought into this topic before so here goes:

My dream job is currently occupied by Mr. Hugh Heffner

my other is occupied by Pat Sajak, his job pays 300 - 500k and it's so cake to shoot "Wheel of Fortune"

Vanna White actually makes more and it's not like her job involves having a very high IQ..."just press the lit up lettersfor a 30 minute segment and have 15 second chatty banter with Pat at the end of the show." She's like the Hollywood paperweight of showbizness and everyone seems to know her.

I kinda always wanted to be a soap opera star, lol. IDK why, they are all horrible actors and the story lines are so lame, but I think it would be fun.

I'm a member of Theater Strike Force, the nation's largest collegiate improv troupe, at the University of Florida. (steals Sunshine away from Yarr)

Seriously, though, I think acting would be my dream job. I'd never try seriously for it, because it's such a long shot, but if I ever got a chance, I'd go for it. Shooting movies would just be WAY too much fun, and you get a hell of a lot of money to boot.

Hahah sounds like fun. Improv is the best. How does your company run it? I used to coach my old high school's team which competed in the Canadian Improv Games. http://www.improv.ca We go by 5 categories: Life, Story, Theme, Character and Style. Anything similar? Here's the Toronto region link, it's a pretty cool organization. http://www.notmonkey.com

I trained with Second City in Detroit last May, and I was asked to join a company in Windsor where I go to school, but unfortunately my schedule is too busy. I'd love to get into improv/stand-up comedy again when I graduate and move back to Yarr-Town, but I'm glad to know that someone else shares the improv bug!! Good for you!

I don't know. Theater Strike Force is rarely competitive in any way, shape or form...I believe a FEW people in TSF travelled to an inter-collegiate competition last August, but we very rarely perform in a tournament or any of that.

There are over 120 registered members in TSF, and we represent the University of Florida's Theater department. We do sponsored shows all around Gainesville and the surrounding areas, perform at official events for companies or campus organizations, and hold workshops/classes for all sorts of games, scenework, short-form, long-form, and a bit of sketch. It's really just a lot of fun, and I don't think any other single activity has helped my mental skills as much as TSF has.

For anyone with the capacity to join an improv troupe, go for it. Groups are very supportive, and there's lots of practice, so don't be afraid of the stage...embrace it!
