In my computer class, we've done Microsoft Publisher, Adobe Photoshop, and now HTML coding. All we do is tutorials out of the book, and all the teacher does is sit on her ass.

The one project we had to do, we had to pick out 5 websites and say why they were bad. Well, I put her website and said it sucked to she gave me an F on it >_>

Tell me this site does not suck: http://user.pa.net/~plw/

This is the reason why I hate high school kids and why I'll end up teaching them after I graduate from the university next semester.

did your teacher give you a reason for the F? did you provide proper reasoning for saying her website was bad? you can always bring this to the attention of the administrator to see if you were being treated unfairly. from what im seeing your teacher said rate 5 websites, if she has a website then she is open game.

you cant fail someone because they critisize your work, teachers dont give grades... you earn them. i do suggest if she gave no reason for the F, as well as you stated to her why the website was bad then you need to talk to the people who keep her in check.

students often feel like their teachers say is the final word, when in fact they have to adhere to a strict code of conduct for grading. its also one of the very reasons teachers are analyzed by outside sources to make sure theyre teaching the proper curriculium as well as being non biased source of judgments to your progress.

if you just said to her being a wise ass "your website suxor becoz i sed so lolz" then you got the grade you deserved.

Is this a US public school, if so your probably SOL because most all of them suck ass thanks to the teachers unions that stand up for sub parr teachers who can just put books in front of kids and then sit on their asses and do nothing.

My kids will go to private school even if i have to work 3 jobs to put them through it, With the public school system the way it is there is no way i could justify putting them through that.

Her website is functional but its by no means great, i cant say if you deserve the F or not as noone here has reviewed your work, but from what i know you basically have to do nothing to get an F these days, so its most likely just her way of getting you back for saying her site was not very good, its amazing how childish some of our teachers can be.

In 1998 I was trying to test out of college-level English 1 by using the CLEP test. I got a 99% on the test portion, but for the writing portion they failed me. The only reason they failed me was because they disagreed with my opinions. The topic was "breaking established rules." I wrote about how children should be given the option of teaching themselves at home and at the library rather than sitting in school everyday. That's exactly how I taught myself, and it worked for me. After they failed me, I challenged the F. About 10 English professors sat in a room with me debating if they should grade me on writing ability, grammar, and content, or if they should grade me on whether or not they agree with my opinions. In the end, they decided children shouldn't be allowed to homeschool themselves and gave me a big, fat F. It's kind of ironic that I wrote about how sitting in class is sometimes a waste of time, yet I found myself wasting a semester away sitting in English 1 class.

lol yeah it uses an applet for no reason (the fountain thing should be an animated gif instead) and she stole the code from somewhere (as seen in this line of code: <param name=Author value="Author: Vladimir N. Korotkov; http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Byte/3392">)

at least it doesn't look like she used Frontpage for it and might have done the HTML coding side herself though, but even so there's not much to it anyway and it's pretty simplistic stuff

oh she also used tables for the main layout which isn't good at all

while I use them to center gifs easier with link text if I'm doing some sort of layout that requires it, I usually use divs/spans instead of tables whenever possible since tables can cause problems and the coding can get a bit messy

Wow, that's really dumb. (the teachers, not you)

I once wrote some kind of essay crap critizcising the way our english was taught, for an english project. How the content was aimed at too many students with varying abilities so in one class you have people struggling to keep up, and others being held back. My english teacher gave me an F for it, so I edited it to make it sound more generalised (i.e not to do with my class,) submitted it to my tutor - who also taught english- and got an A for it, then challenged my teacher to change it and she did :D

The project was mainly opinion based, and she said her website was good. It wouldn't suprise me if she did the coding herself, since thats what the book we're using atm is about.

And yeah, school administration won't do anything about it. Guidance counselor doesn't talk to me because I tried to drop that class and the principal's only want to make themselves look good.

Teach me.

There's her reasons for it.

But he also put her website on the list of good websites and got an extra credit point for that lol. I'd put the picture up but I'm lazy, sorry.

US public schools do suck.

Her class is sort of like that. I mean, we have these stupid tutorials we do in the books, and she has to walk almost everyone in my class through it. Sometimes I go ahead but I sit where she can see what I'm doing and I get in trouble sometimes for going ahead, even if I know what I'm doing. And I tried dropping this class in the beginning of the year because it wasn't what I thought it was, so she comes up with the brilliant idea of having me take the final exam for it. Although I didn't really know this stuff, I didn't want to learn it, and it's too easy imo for a full credit. I got a 56% on the test at least, Armani got a 54% I think haha

I overheard some kids talking about a website, I think it was www.vtunnel.com but I'm not sure, so don't quote me on this one.

I had to do one of those too! But I didn't like the topic they gave, so I wrote about penguins instead. course I failed and had to take the class -.- it was the biggest waste of time ever.. I spent most of that class fixing other people's papers

Lol, what was the topic that you had to write about but chose penguins instead?

Also, this teacher told us we get free fridays from now on if we have our work done but she was being a nazi and wouldn't let me read the forums lol

I went to university when I was 17 too!

It's a shame that there are poor teachers out there. I will be graduating to become a teacher in a year and I am looking forward to that career. I've had some bad teachers in my life, but the good ones have made a strong impact on my decision to be a teacher. Let's just hope I get accepted to teacher's college in April. lol Yikes! :?
