Post subject: | New Shows on TV You Should Watch |
So Ive been watching a lot of TV with Sunshine. Probably because thats the best and cheapest entertainment. We have a lot of new shows, but two of them I think really stand out. 1) Heroes 2) Jericho In that order too. Heroes is probably the best NEW show on TV right now. Its a great Comic style show for all those people who love comics. Its more like Marvel in its style and I am really enjoying it. The story does move a little slow and always ends in cliff hangers you thought would be solved that episode. So really its just like a comic book haha. Still the slow episodes put me off a little. Jericho is really well done too. At first I wasnt sure what to expect. Sunshine and I made fun of the preview commercials for this show and we only watched the first episode so that we could laugh at it. We ended up enjoying it. I originally thought it was just going to be some lame post nuke USA show, but its almost like Lost in the way they keep you guessing. Its a great show, but still it wouldnt take much to get really dumb. So for now its good, and I just hope it stays that way. Is anyone else watching these shows? I was seriously blown away by Heroes last episode. |

The only television shows I watch are House and Lost. I do however end up watching a number of programs on DVD when they get released. Freaks and Geeks, Dead Like Me and Scrubs are among my DVD favourites. But I'll check those shows out sometime. |

Me and my Ex use to watch this show religiously. Its a very well done show. The casting is great and the writing is spot on. The show just suffers from being shifted around the schedule. At least in canada its shifted around all the time. I had a hard time figuring out when it started back up for season 2 (or three) and couldnt get back into it. Last season finally I saw was when that serial murderer was going around butchering the people who had plastic sergery. Whats his face was drugged and we see him split seconds before he gets slashed. what ever happened anyway? |

You talking about the Carver? I dont really rememember because thats one of the episodes i missed. (i only started watching at the end of season 3) But my roomate says that they ended finding out who he didnt have a penis, and that he raped people with a dildo. Also he ends up dying. Yeah i wonder if they have the full nip/tuck seasons on DVD. That would be awesome... This season is effing crazy though, and a lot of serious things happen to the main characters. After watching the first episode Heroes seems almost identical to the X-Men and the origin of mutants in Marvel Comics... only less interesting. The characters seem okay, I'll give the other episodes a shot before I pass any sort of final judgement. |

So I was reading the heroes site (cause im bored) and I noticed a few cool things. For starters, the actor who plays Hiro has one god damn impressive application. See it below. Quote: Masi Oka stars in NBC's new ensemble drama series "Heroes" as Hiro Nakamura, a Tokyo nonconformist computer/anime enthusiast who develops a way to pierce the space-time continuum and move back in time through sheer will power. "Heroes" follows the lives of ordinary people who discover they possess extraordinary abilities.
No stranger to television, Oka has had recurring roles on NBC's "Scrubs" as Franklyn and "Luis" as Deng Wu. He also guest-starred on "Without a Trace," "Joey," "Reba," "The Loop," "All of Us," "Still Standing," "Will & Grace," "Yes, Dear" and "Gilmore Girls." His feature-film credits include memorable roles in "Along Came Polly," "Austin Powers in Goldmember" and "House of the Dead 2: Dead Aim." With a background in improvisation, Oka has performed on the stages of Second City, ImprovOlympics, The Groundlings, and TheatreSports. His improvisational expertise has been showcased with guest appearances as various characters on "Punk'd," "Reno 911" and "The Jamie Kennedy Experiment." After graduating from Brown University with degrees in mathematics and computer science and a theatre arts minor, Oka pursued an acting career while taking his first job at George Lucas' Oscar-winning special effects house Industrial Light & Magic. Today, despite his successful career as an actor, he continues to provide ILM with technology for groundbreaking effects for more than 30 films. Oka was born in Tokyo, Japan, and moved to Los Angeles at age six, where he currently resides. He is fluent in Japanese and proficient in Spanish. His hobbies include Kendo (Japanese sword fighting), playing video games, watching and writing romantic comedies, playing the piano, and singing. His birthday is December 27. Let me explain why this is some what interesting. Masive Spoiler warning. (Highlight the text to read it) In episode four we see a pretty interesting turn of events. Now, the actor that plays Hiro has a pretty interesting write up as you can see above. Whats interesting is that he has Kendo listed as a hoby. Now, If you were paying attention in Episode four you would have noticed that the Hiro from the future was branding a katana of some kind on his back. So I think its safe to say that hes going to end up as some kind of Ninja super hero as the show goes on. I happened to think that the whole "Future Hiro" thing was amazing. |

Lost was brilliant last night. Desmond walking around in a huge tie-dye tee shirt made me laugh so freakin' hard. |

Lost was absolutly amazing last night. I loved the episode. Sometimes the backstories mirror the current situation a little too well and it comes off fake feeling, thats the only thing that bugged me. I thought the scene with all the losties (and a few others) in the airport was perfect. And boone or whatever his name coming back was a nice touch too. oh and I laughed when they showed Hurly with Looke's knife in his water bottle and hes just like "whoa man" or when hurly was like "ummmm bears?" when he heard Desmond running through the bush. |

Yea, I think that of all the back stories, that right now, Locke's is the most complete, but it's also the most convoluted. We have yet to find out why he was in the wheelchair on the plane, and how he was healed. |

Yeah I still havent watched all of season one and two lol. I know most of it though the lost wiki site and throught the lost-forums. My sister owns both seasons and Im working night shifts starting next week for a month. On night shifts I have the office area to myself so I can watch DVDs all I like (so long as theres nothing to do). So Ill watch both seasons in like two nights. |

You got a sweet ass job, man. lol |

The night shifts are ass to work. I have to go to work at 6PM and I dont get off until 6AM. I have to drive 45-60 minutes (if I speed) to work and another 45-60 minutes from work. So when I work a night shift I get home at 7AM. I eat some food by myself and go to be by 9AM. I sleep until 4PM, eat, shower, get dressed and leave for work at 5PM. I get a total of 6 hours of sleep with only 2 hours of "awake time". At work Im not allowed to watch DVDs. They would probably get mad at me, but I do it anyway because it really doesnt affect my job. That job consisting of sitting around for 12 hours just incase some massive problem comes up at our warehouse. Normally I work the day shift (6AM to 6PM) and its pretty crap tastic too. The good news about the night shift is that I wont see Sunshine for days at a time! ![]() |

Lost has really confused me, haha. So is *SPOILER* Desmond actually just Hurley's imaginary friend now like that one guy was? I can't figure out how Mr Eko and Desmond have mind powers or some shit and yet have backstories that prove they're real people. I love being so confused by that show lol. |

Desmond is my favourite character on Lost. He hasn't been shown much, but when he's around, he's brilliant. I love the fact that he carries (or carried?) "Our Mutal Friend" around with him so it's the last book he'll ever read. He also continues the motif of having characters on the island having the last name of a philosopher (Desmond's last name is Hume). I don't think he's Hurley's imaginary friend or anything, but I do think that he's starting to show the gift that the island "gave" him. Though I did think it was weird that for the last five minutes of the show he was standing around pantless throwing rocks into the ocean during Locke's speech. |
