argh somehow i registered two accounts. i think the guest account was registered. onion helm is on the guest account. it's all a mess. i'll have to figure it out later! going to work.

Yeah I was prompted. So I got Yarr Ifrit. Whisp just delete, mirge and make your character, its locked by you.

Ok, let me reiterate this for people.

When you enter your FFXIV registration code as a service account, it will say that a service account already exists. It will ask if you want to make a new service account, or merge (reuse) the current one, already called Final Fantasy XIV. You need to make sure you tell it to use that one, and not make a new one. That allows you to use your old beta name.

Additionally, any bonus items you register need registering to the same service account.

To check, goto the "List of Options Continued Automatically" on the account site. There's a button that says "Options List" near the top. On there you can see your account that should be listed as so:

You need to goto:

Square Enix Account > Payments and Service Fees > List of Options Continued Automatically

Then click "List Options" near the top, that should give a screen that lists stuff about your account. At the bottom it should list the bonus items attached to your account.

It should look like this, notice the bottom:

i figured out what i did wrong. I just go to focused on getting in and locking the ckd name. I registered it now, lets see if it appears in my inventory.

ok, looks like I dont get it. I registered it and i got nothing. oh well, the helm is the only thing that pisses me off. I mean I payed extra for that and to play early. So why am I pushed for registering the code after the charate creation?

You have to have the codes registered before you create your character. If you delete your character and remake a new one you'll have the items starting in your inventory on the boat (if you're starting in Limsa Limosa).

You only get the bonus items when you create the character, if the stuff is registered to the account. SE have said in a few places that if you register the codes later you need to delete the character and remake it to get the items.

I'm a tad confused. Do they actually charge your card and immediately refund it? Or does the discount cancel that first payment altogether?

Or maybe I'm an understanding it all wrong, and the registration payment is seperate from your first monthly payment (which I still wouldn't be happy with). I'm worried those jerks are trying to finagle another $13 out of me, after I'm already paying $25 more just to play the game a week early haha. I assumed registration and the first month would be entirely free.

When you first "buy" your basic service and character, it gives you a 100% discount (it will tell you this before you complete the transaction). (Which is your month free.) If you buy 3 months in one go it might only be a 33% discount (which still equals one month free).

I wish i had know this first. This makes me pretty pissed.

Ok cool, thanks! I was getting irritated since I'm already spending $275 just to play this game (including game, graphics card, and PSU). I know that's less than others spent, but I still feel pretty rediculous haha. Expecially since I'm supposed to be saving $$ for something else.

I'll be sure to link my codes to the account before starting my character. That sucks if you have to delete and start over. Thanks for posting all the useful info here.

Quick question. how do I ensure that I get the boots? I linked my accounts, as far as I remember, but no boot things shows up there. I guess it doesn't show up on Ket's pic, either. Just making sure.
