Right now I'm playing a char named Whiskey Jack in Uldah. I'll be making a Gridania char later tonight.

i got my muhfuckin codeeee... i'll be on the labia server. my name will have Pinchface in it.

So once everyone stopped spamming the sites, it seems that those people who got keys were finally able to register them, then rush off to break the lobby server. Some servers are already reporting queues 100+. It's so bad a lot of us get a time out message when trying to start, which conveniently closes the whole program, forcing you to restart the game and log in again. It's pretty awesome.

Started in Gridania, love it so far.

Yeah.. was able to get everything taken care of an logged in.. Made it through the extremely buggy intro instance, and outside to the camp... decided i was going to change my resolution, which requires logging out and cant get back in.

played for a bit, my only gripe is the UI lag

and it's a big gripe, that shit is killerrrrr.... they gotta smooth out the UI :\

Weird, because the UI is 100x better than it was during CBT. I barely notice any lag with it now.

I still cant get a damn Key. Someone get another key and send it to me damn it.

what am i doing wrong?

Looking at it quickly, it seems you get redirected to a busy page instead of an error now. That means if you just keep hitting refresh, all you're doing is refreshing the busy page. So you'd need to keep going back and hitting the "apply for beta test" button.

Surprised they're still have congestion problems this morning though.

Oh ok, for some reason if you try to follow the link to account manager provided in the email, it just auto directs me to a busy page. However, if you attempt to sign into the client it will obviously fail and allow you direct access to your acount manager which I was then able to register my key without problem.

On a side note, I'm rather miffed that they decided to make races have base stats after all. All the races being a blank slate and the freedom of choice based on aesthetics alone was one of their biggest selling points they used to gloat about.

I'm sure the game will be fine. It's just that the 360 on the concept of freedom of character growth being the underlying theme was just so recently chucked out the window in favor of just being FFXI 2.0 is quite disappointing to me.

And are they really only planning to have 4 hair styles for lalafell in retail? lol

I can't get one either. I still can't get past the beta entry form.

If anyone is still getting the busy page, I just got to the manage my account site somehow, and after selecting my region and going to the account management page, I was able to click the "Go to FFXIV beta registration page" link and got through to where it said it was sending me an email.


Edit: Just have to make sure you go back to the account page and click "add service" instead of trying to use the link in the email, which is still coming up busy

As long as you got a key yarr, you'll eventually get it registered. i used an iphone which made things easier for registration.

i played last night started in Grinada, i absolutely love it, and i also had 0 lag around the UI. character had lag after a while because of all the people storming the server, but thats pretty much it. they improved alot of the game and i am happy where i stand as of now.

i took a bunch of ss that i will be posting later tonight.

I'm really impressed by open beta so far, it's so much better than closed was in terms of performance and the fact that you can customize your fucking keys finally :p (although I did find a bug where, if you exit the game and go back in, your key binds will be default until you enter the configuration menu, go into keyboard customization, and exit back out). Gridania is really impressive so far and it's actually a shitload easier to navigate than Limsa. Since Corwin said it only takes 30m to travel between Uldah and Gridania, I'll just walk over for an invite :p

I still don't have a key And it says it's closed for now. Poo.

I'm all registered and stuff ready but I'm actually quite busy today, with work and then going out later, so I won't actually get to try it until later at night.

So you can definately run between Ul'Dah and Gridania, but can you get between either of those and Limsa Lominsa? Just curious, because you'd need to take a boat or something. I'm guessing once you've been to both you can use Anima to warp between them. Does that still cost 4? I have a feeling it's going to cost a lot more, which is bad if you still only get 3-4 anima per day.

PS: The NA beta signup site seems to be working perfectly fine for me from work.

EDIT: Oh, it's because they stopped giving keys out for now? Well that sucks. Glad I stayed up til 4AM to get my key I guess. It's probably because of congestion, apparently theres a 1200+ person queue just to log on to Mysidia. I bet Lindblum's queue is even bigger.

I was going to make a character on Matti's account, but I guess there is an update and I've been sitting at 47.3% for 40 minutes now. So angry!

Im going to start in Gridania when i get home tonight. Dont make a CKD linkshell everyone. If you do then you need to make sure youre willing to log in every day and hand out pearls. Not a fun task. Id ask that everyone just wait until I get home.
