I'm pretty sure it meant that only "Yarr Ifrit" as a whole name would be reserved (and everyone else that has an active character on that server), and not that nobody other than people who played on Ifrit could use Ifrit as a last name?

I agree with Ket on this one. I don't think FF11 server names are completely off limits, unless you are also trying to use a first name of a player from that server.

I bet they are. I bet you cant use the last name of a server. Just like you cant now in open beta.

Yea they'll reserve all last-name-Ifrits. In the event someone makes a new character on FFXI Ifrit, and then comes to FFXIV.

I can't make Whisp Ifrit though. I tried in the beta, and it told me that name is not allowed.

- Transferal of FINAL FANTASY XI Player Character Name to FINAL FANTASY XIV When creating a new FINAL FANTASY XIV character, FINAL FANTASY XI players’ character names will be prioritized. The character’s name will become “Given Name: the Player Character’s name in FINAL FANTASY XI” + “Surname: the name of the Player Character’s World.”

whisp was banned after i gave it away. i'd have to be whispy ifrit. no thx

well if Ket is right, you should be able to make Whisp Ifrit. Since that account wont be reserved.

I'm so jealous of all these beautiful hi-res screenshots. You should see how crappy it looks on my PC at low res with all settings cranked down...and it's still choppy.
