No, like Mil said though it voids your warranty. There are lots of guides out there, and from what I've read you can return it to factory settings if you need any warranty work done to it.

So any final idea on server? I know Emperor was nice in beta, but we really have no idea what will happen at release. If Kefka is overpopulated during Beta, tons of people could move. So it really doesn't matter to me.

We're still waiting on the absolute final word on server names.

Supposedly, according to that guy's script that checks which servers were up, there's now 20 servers. That list isn't a bunch of dummy placeholders, because earlier today when the patch went up, some of those servers were online.

Even that could be wrong though. The only thing we know for sure is that whatever open beta's servers are called is what the retail servers will be called.

Basically, when servers go up, instead of rushing to make a character, rush through the character creator up until the server selection and find out what they're called, then cancel and post the list here. We can decide which server while people are spending time making their characters.

Should probably be on ventrilo if you can. Will make picking a server a lot faster.

Well, hopefully whoever decides, makes it quick. I'm not fully understanding why we aren't picking one ahead of time with the understanding that if that isn't one of the options, we'll do what Ket suggested.

At least all the confusion will happen on open beta instead of live version. haha

Imagine Yuhtunga/Yhoator Jungle mixed with Wajaom Woodlands. Its looks like an absolute nightmare. I really hope it's the map for somewhere else, lol.

I plan on trying out both cities during OB.

We won't know until the lobby server lets people log in, unless people figure out how to pull the names from a DAT file somehow, but the server names are most likely sent to you by the lobby server itself when you log in.

Basically, we wont know until the servers go up.

OK cool, well lets say if by some chance they have another Ifrit, we go there. If they have another Fire based character or theme, we pick that.

I have a feeling they won't use the same names as FFXI had. Simply to separate the servers and avoid confusion on their end if nothing else. "Ifrit's down, needs rebooting." "Er, which one?" etc.

I'm trying to think what else fire themed might be on the list. The server names are probably either going to be names of towns, names of monsters, names of villians, or names of characters. Monsters might have some fire themes but there might be more than one.

The other option is we do something I heard someone suggest (either here or in an IM to me) that we simply say something like: "Pick the seventh server on the list, regardless of what it's called."

Then we just hope they're not sorted randomly, lol.

But you know what, it doesn't really matter.

Everyone's going to spend the first 10-15 minutes fiddling with the character creator again. During which time everyone has forum access too. We'll know the names of the servers almost immediately, we'll have time to pick one before people's characters actually get created. And if someone ends up on the wrong server by accident or something, it's not like they'll need to delete a character they spent any more than 30 minutes with.

Just make sure the moment it's picked it's posted here.

We don't need to pick the same server for retail. We'll have a few weeks to debate which one to pick for retail, because we'll have the server list then. And we can find out which server people seem to be picking the most from BG for an idea of which will be crowded.

Square said it goes live at 2AM GMT. SE do not use daylight savings when they post their GMT times, so that is 3AM BST.

EDT (EST Daylight Savings) is BST-5. So it goes live at 10PM EDT. Which, yes, is technically 9PM EST, but as far as you guys actually care it's 10PM.

Daylight savings are annoying, why exactly do we still have it?
