Post subject:  How to link your FFXI & FFXIV accounts for Hermes Shoes
1) http://account.square-enix.com/account
2) Click Link Settings (on the left)
3) Select Add a Link
4) Select PlayOnline
5) Enter your PlayOnline ID & password (not your SE ID & password...fake example: HJOP9756 / Blabla9756)
6) Click Current Membership Status (on the left)
7) If you have accounts listed as registered for both FFXI & FFXIV they'll show up here.

8) Kick back and wait for launch and you'll supposedly have your Hermes Shoes, level 35, increased movement speed, on all your characters.

Note: If you log back into FFXI you'll need to not only enter your POL ID & POL password but now also your SE ID & SE password to play FFXI.

I believe they said you could "choose" to take your old name. I think they're basically reserving everyone's old "Name Server" names and then it will only let you (and nobody else) create a character with that name. But you could just make a character with a different name. This is mostly guessing on my part but they definately said "choose" rather than "will".

I'm quite annoyed that I can't get these shoes, because of my FFXI account being NA region and my new FFXIV account will be EU region. Hopefully they end up sucking like those standard pre-order exp goggles (limited charges and then useless forever).

Nobody really knows anything specific about it other than it supposedly reduces how long you're weakened for.

If that means putting it on after getting raised, then thats good but it'll look silly. Having tons of people all standing around wearing that giant blue feathered helmet will just look ridiculous, but it'll get a lot of use. If you actually have to be wearing the helm as you're raised to get the effect (which is likely) then you'd have to be wearing the helm before you die. All of a sudden it becomes mostly useless except for the first 10 levels or so of the game.
