You know, I'm really surprised SE didn't do something about their DAT files to obfuscate them compared to FFXI. I'm sure the format is slightly different, but not enough if it only took people a couple months to be able to rip anything they want directly out of the files.

This is going to completely ruin that "first year" where nobody really knows what they're doing, which i found the most fun in FFXI, but oh well.

Nah when we first started on FFXI there was datamining, and there was the fact that the japanese players already had a one year head start.

seems like the quests in FFXI were so much more thought-out. i mean, these quests are all go kill x number of mobs. nothing more.

They still may do npc quests, but I wouldn't expect anything revolutionary from leves, as they are an exp mechanic, not really a flavor/storyline thing. Simply too many to make to have them be anything more than kill X of Y.

The storyline quests are there. There may be others not directly tied to the nations, but for storyline that's where I've been looking. The level quests are the generic mmo staples.
