Dying without helm: 3 minutes
Dying with helm: 1.5 minutes
Dying with helm and immediately removing: 1.5 minutes
Dying without helm and immediately equipping it: 3 minutes


Asuran Gloves (for you lucky folks):
Here's my testing with Goldsmith:
Craftmanship/Mag. Craftmanship/Control

Without gloves: 12/10/8
With gloves rank 1: 18/16/9
With Gloves rank 2: 19/17/9
With Gloves rank 3: 19/17/9

Gladiator (stolen from BG):
MH Attack - 39 with, 36 w/o
OH Attack - 3 with, 0 w/o
MH Potency - 9 with, 4 w/o
OH Potency - 5 with, 0 w/o


As a side note, this server got hammered. Every I went was just a flowing mass of onion heads. Not looking forward to servers going live.

I did some more reading and a few website said that if you equip the helm after you get KOed will remove weakened within 1:30

From the completion of all worlds maintenance which is scheduled to end on Sep. 15, 2010 at approximately 1:00 to Sep. 16, 2010 1:00 (PDT), an event will be held in which users can try out the in-game bonus items that will be implemented in the official release of the game.

The event will be held in the Karnak world, which can be accessed once the event begins. If you create a new character in the Karnak world, you will start out with an "Onion Helm" and "Asuran Armguards." Feel free to create a new character and test out these items.

We may add other worlds and hold similar events depending on circumstances.

However, please be aware that character names from the Karnak world and other worlds added for events will not be carried over to the official release of the game and the worlds will be closed down once the event is over.

*Event completion time may be subject to change.
* Please be advised that the bonus in-game items that you receive during this event will have no impact on the actual bonus in-game items that you may receive for the official release.

Karnak and Narshe servers were doing some bonus item tests today. May still be happening. You get to test out the onion helmet and asuran gloves. The gloves are for preordering ff13, I think, which I did!

Best bet at this point is trying to buy the code off eBay. Had to register the game to your square enix account and then it gave you the code on the site.

I don't know how people are getting this, but I just tested it again on Karnak. I died, then hit my equip helm macro as soon as I loaded at the camp, and I got the full 3 min weakness.


Edit: I started reading through that ffxivcore thread. The person saying you could equip the helm after was clearly an idiot who didn't know what they were talking about. Its still the full 3 minutes unless you die with the helm on.

Well deep down, we all knew the effect would be useless, like that. It's aesthetics, only. Costume piece.

The helm does exactly what I thought it would. Actually it does it better. I expected like 30 seconds less.

Also a bit too much red for me, and that's my favorite color. Idk that I'd be able to wear something like that for a long time while playing lol
