Well!

Now that the beta is wrapping up, I compiled a list of things to take care of before the 22nd (Or 30th for those waiting for Standard version). Figured I'd share it just to make sure we're all good to go for launch day.

1 (Required): Uninstall FFXIV Beta from your computer, so your install on launch runs smoothly.
2 (Suggested): Log into your S-E account and ensure all your contact/location information is correct.
3 (Optional): Link your active FFXI account to your S-E account.
4 (Optional): Install a screen shot capturing program, if you're not satisfied Print Scrn. Fraps is a good, free choice.
5 (Optional): Have your FFXIII promotional code written down, or saved to a .txt file.
6 (Suggested): Get your bookmarks in order. See below:
7 (Suggested): Take care of any RL distractions beforehand (Shopping, Errands, Etc). You'll want gaming food!

Suggested Bookmarks

For bookmarks, I compiled a small list of ones that I think may be useful. You may want to use this. You may not. But I figured I'd share.

FFXIV - ZAM:
http://ffxiv.zam.com/
This is probably already set to your bookmarks, but just in case! One of the bigger, more active FFXIV communities, as well as good game information.

FFXIV - Status Page:
http://www.ffxiv-status.com/
Provides status of the various FFXIV servers, moon phases, in game time and such. At least it did for Open Beta.

FFXIV - Yellow Gremlin:
http://ffxiv.yg.com/
Another good site with information. Until more is known about the game, going to multiple sites to get the bits and pieces of information, as they surface, will probably be a good idea.

FFXIV - Eorzeapedia:
http://www.eorzeapedia.com/
See above. Another information site. More resources the better, I say!

FFXIV - Crafting Database:
http://www.socsclan.com/index.php
Decent crafting resource. Again, more the merrier.

FFXIV - S-E Account Page:
https://secure.square-enix.com/account/app/svc/Login?cont=account
The main account page login for Square-Enix accounts.

FFXIV - S-E Members Page:
http://member.square-enix.com/na/
The main members page for Square-Enix accounts.

You should make uninstalling the beta required rather than suggested. It's really not a good idea to leave it there. SE themselves said that uninstalling the beta after installing the full game might screw your files up and make you have to reinstall it.

Don't you just had to have registered it to this page: http://member.square-enix.com/na/points/ in order to get the bonus? I'm really confused on how you make certain that your eligible for some of this stuff. There doesn't seem to be any clear indication.

Nope. You do need to need to enter the code at some point in time during the account creation, or something, as far as we can tell.

At that page go to Features > FFXIII > Bonus Codes > review Bonus Codes

your code for the gloves should be there ^^

- In-Game Bonus Items
→ To receive the in-game bonus items that come with FINAL FANTASY XIII (initial batch only), FINAL FANTASY XIV Collector's Edition, or FINAL FANTASY XIV Standard Edition, you will need to register the item codes which comes with the corresponding product. To register an item code, please follow the steps below:

1. Log into the Square Enix Account Management System (https://secure.squar...ix.com/account/)
2. Select the "Select Service" option under "Service and Options"
3. Select "FINAL FANTASY XIV," and then "Add a service account"
4. Enter the corresponding item code, and then select "Next"

* The in-game bonus item will apply to the corresponding FINAL FANTASY XIV service account once the registration is complete.
* When you create a character on the corresponding FINAL FANTASY XIV service account, the character will start off with the in-game bonus item in possession. Please note that characters created prior to the registration of the item code(s) will not receive the in-game bonus item, so make sure you register the code prior to the creation process.

→ Perks for Simultaneous Players of Both FINAL FANTASY XI and FINAL FANTASY XIV If a PlayOnline ID with an active FINAL FANTASY XI Content ID is linked to a Square Enix account with a FINAL FANTASY XIV service account, all new characters created on that FINAL FANTASY XIV service account will start out possessing an in-game bonus item.

* Please note that you will not be able to receive a special in-game item in the following cases:
- If you have created a character before linking your PlayOnline ID (It is, however, possible to receive the in-game item by deleting the characters you created, linking your PlayOnline ID, and then re-creating your characters).
- If, at the time of creating your FINAL FANTASY XIV character, the linked PlayOnline ID’s FINAL FANTASY XI Content IDs are invalid (the Content IDs have been cancelled and are thus not being billed).
- If the linked PlayOnline ID’s FINAL FANTASY XI is in the free trial period.

My FFXIV got shipped using next day delivery at 11AM this morning (Monday). \:D/

I hear there's a torrent floating around if other people want to get their game installed and patched early.

I used to always torrent the FFXI expansions. I had to import the US copies and they could take weeks to arrive. I found importers that would open the box and e-mail me the code first before shipping. Then I'd torrent the expansion and use the code once I finished downloading it.

I torrented the Wings of the Goddess for PC because buying the media for all 3 systems was way too expensive for me at the time, and I'd end up with 1 or 2 codes that would be wasted.

I'm going to see about getting my discs early. If anyone wants me to try and make an iso, pm me

Ket, how did you get the bracers, i need to know lol. Do I just register the game through my SE NA account?

Author:  Ketrebu [ Tue Sep 21, 2010 8:26 pm ]

You register FF13 on the Square Enix Members site with the code that was in the box, then they email you a FFXIV reg code in your email. You can go back to the Members site and get the FFXIV code again if you've lost it (but registered FF13).

Ok I registered FFXIII way back in March when it first came out, wasn't aware of a FFXIV code that is emailed? I can't find a way to resend that email either..

Yeah I did, never saw an option. It's apparently only for the PS3 version.

360 version of the game got some silly chocobo thing for your Xbox Live Avatar. PS3 version got the FFXIV code. It was only the first print run too so it's unlikely to run to a store and find a code now.
