Supafly's Wiki of Stat Tests Good evening/afternoon/morning, this has been a bit of an ongoing test just to test stats and weapons in-game to see what does and does not really make a difference in this game so far. So after running the following tests I pledge to post 1 section a day to showcase my own personal findings. Please keep in mind none of these tests are totally complete as I simply tested once per mob of same level but I believe this gave me all the data I really wanted to use as it will give users some “finality” to their thoughts and hypothesis of what does and does not matter in this game thus far. So let us take an in-depth look into weapons…so in this episode…. PUG LVL 37 vs. Puk (Lvl 37) Only a simple weapon change utilized, all gear remained the same. I inputted the values into a simple standard deviation calculator so as far as terms you may need to brush up on the math as well as what each means but here are the findings. The data sets are already skewed a bit and incorrect as I didn’t calculate hits for 0 damage or misses because…well, I didn’t really care enough to do so. Oh noes! I’m not perfect...but if this really mattered that much to you then perhaps you should ease up when playing a video game. And if you want to really get crazy with numbers here: http://www.numberempire.com/statisticscalculator.php Round 1 – Weathered Hora – Time = 1:13.488 Entries - 42, 46, 45, 46, 43, 33, 43, 43, 31, 31, 762, 45, 46, 33, 32, 43, 45, 31, 46, 43, 44 Total Numbers (hits) – 21 Total Damage - 1573 Mean/Average – 74.90 Median - 43 Mode - 43 Std. Dev. – 157.54 Most DMG – 762 (Victimize coupled with Ferocity and Raging Strike) Least DMG – 31 (light Strike….Flurry was 3-fold 31,31,whiff) Round 2 – Fists of the Sixth Sun – Time = 25.59 Entries - 110, 110, 109, 73, 103, 103, 78, 108, 968 Total Numbers (hits) – 9 Total Damage - 1762 Mean/Average – 195.78 Median - 108 Mode – 103, 110 Std. Dev. – 289.92 Most DMG – 968 (Victimize coupled with Ferocity and Raging Strike) Least DMG – 73 (light Strike….Flurry whiffed 2 times...) Final thoughts: Well utilizing “Flurry” seemed like crap but it is noted I was not of “optimal rank.” Does it matter? Probably but I am sure it only would make a small marginal difference in the data I was after. It would seem from a purely physical damage/weaponskill standpoint; weapon and weapon level matters! Duh! Physical Rank vs. mob rank wasn’t a factor I considered as I tested that and will include those finding later and besides…why would a player want to clutter themselves with a lower level weapon if it is already evident a weapon of higher rank is necessary? With a lower level weapon you hit for less damage, whiff more (it feels), and it generally takes longer to kill a mob. With a good "leveled" weapon I wasn't too far from doing nearly triple the average damage of a weapon that is noted as supremely subpar. Yet how much does a weapon matter and at what level does one start noticing a true difference? This will be covered in a future finding when I post my data from my test of GLA vs GOB. *same thing...just a weapon change... Lvl 41 GLA Vs. Gob (Lvl 41) Round 1 – Goblin Gladius – Time = 51.461 Entries - 146,150,286,199,140,191,389,142,138,207 Total Numbers (hits) – 10 Total Damage - 1998 Mean/Average – 198.8 Median - (150+191)/2 = 170.5 Mode - N/A or all numbers Std. Dev. – 81.28 Most DMG – 389 Rage of Halone Least DMG – 138 (Light Slash) Round 2 – Flametongue – Time = 55.189 Entries - 180,164,188,245,218,262,135,135,175,375,226,138,134 Total Numbers (hits) – 13 Total Damage - 2575 Mean/Average – 198.08 Median - 180 Mode - 135 Std. Dev. – 68.65 Most DMG – 375 Rage of Halone Least DMG – 134 (Light Slash) Final thoughts: First off, it is hard for me to see a GLA wasting the stamina bar away on such tactics unless they are soloing (much of the GLA is utilized to tank and do shield skills). With that said, these were the same level gobs but did these two have the same amount of hit points? They did give the same SP so w/e. I did do a higher damage Rage of Halone and Light Slash with the Goblin Gladius vs Flametongue. I also noticed a fair amount of more criticals utilizing Flametongue and I probably could have beaten the second Gob just as fast if it wasn't for the stunning "firecracker shower." However, it is safe for me to believe the actual damage is only marginal (just like 5 - 10 points) when calculating how much time it actually took me to beat these 2. Is a baby NM Item better? Maybe, it does have stats on most of the NM weapons but we won't know for certain until I test some more... Full Battle Log Spoiler: show

*Again...just a weapon change...but with a "Twisting Vice" as we view NM weapons as well as NQ and HQ weapons... 38 LNC Vs. Lemur (Lvl 41) Round 1 – Shellsplitter – Time = 35.794 Entries - 169,177,169,222,171,912,211,162 Total Numbers (hits) – 8 Total Damage - 2193 Mean/Average – 274.13 Median - (171+177)/2 = 174 Mode - 169 Std. Dev. – 273.15 Most DMG – 947 Doomspike II w/ Raging Strike + Ferocity Least DMG – 166 Heavy Thrust Round 3 – Battle Fork +1 – Time = 44.831 Entries - 188,175,189,180,174,188,869,183 Total Numbers (hits) – 8 Total Damage - 2146 Mean/Average – 268.25 Median - (183+188)/2 = 185.5 Mode - 188 Std. Dev. – 242.81 Most DMG – 869 Doomspike II w/ Raging Strike + Ferocity Least DMG – 174 Heavy Thrust Round 4 – Weathered Spear – Time = 3:31.366 Entries - 83,85,82,84,82,84,111,86,84,81,85,86,80,86,81,879,88,87 Total Numbers (hits) – 18 Total Damage - 2374 Mean/Average – 129.67 Median - (183+188)/2 = 185.5 Mode - 188 Std. Dev. – 187.13 Most DMG – 879 Doomspike II w/ Raging Strike + Ferocity Least DMG – 81 Pierce Final thoughts: We already established a level 1 weapon sucks, this was just further proof! The Weathered Spear took me forever to kill this mob and it even missed a Doomspike II Weaponskill which really didn't help in the situation. I hate when this happens...so much TP is utterly wasted which reaffirmed my belief a subpar weapon actually has horrible accuracy in relation to mobs you are fighting within your rank. Interesting findings from this data is the level 35 NM weapon Shellsplitter did better than a NQ and a HQ level 38 weapon. The Shellsplitter virtually owned the mob in both time to kill, average damage, and total damage! What is even more striking is 3 of the weapons above did the same exact number of hits to the mob which made for some excellent comparisons. The difference between a NQ and +1 Battle Fork seemed so minimal (the NQ actually did more damage which was disappointing) in damage comparison that I now know that unless it's a lvl 50 weapon (for e-peen purposes and/or bragging rights) I will be looking to save my money on leveling from now on when choosing a weapon that will get the job done versus splurging gill on a HQ weapon only to have problems selling it later at a similar price I paid for it. Multishot full > Hawk's Eye > Raging Strike > Ferocity > shoot Barrage (or Quick Nock) Trifurcate > shoot *repeat as necessary.... If you aren't capitalizing on Multishot+Hawk's Eye+Raging Strike+Ferocity then it would be wise to seriously start thinking about it. Continuation on Archer Vs. Mobs & NM (do stats/arrows matter?) UPDATE So now in continuation of more additional testing Ringo Noyamano (Trabia) of CKD decided to venture out and do some testing of his own...Ringo mainly tested certain stats by equipping rings and whatnot as a R34 Archer against an R34 mob with a "Koko Bow" Kokoroon's Nestpicker Final Thoughts I will conclude my final thoughts of this testing at the top of this section and the testing of the NM tests at the bottom. Throughout the tests Ringo was messaging what felt right, or more accurate, or how critical hit rate or accuracy "felt" higher when equipping "this" and "that" but the numbers don't lie in the end. The only real factor to consider is how many hits it took to kill the mob (usually between 8 & 15 hits of a mob of the same rank) and the average number (mean) of DMG factored in against the mob. Most of my final thoughts don't really deviate from the archer tests in the post above. DEX looked like it did horrible. Equipping silver arrows upped damage by an average of about 10 points as predicted. What is different is the outlier of data in the STR category. Ringo's damage doesn't seem as marginal when he had warped arrows and added STR (186.45 in 11 hits) in comparison to just no change in stats and having warped arrows (187.36 in 11 hits). In fact he actually did worse by adding STR. However, let's look at when the silver arrows got equipped. Ringo raised his average damage a decent amount (212.9 in 10 hits) by upping his STR and equipping silver arrows. So what happened here? I'll take away 10 points for the silver arrows equipped but damage would still be an above average 200+. Average damage was usually between 185 - 195 points of damage in 11 hits so maybe he just got really lucky but factoring STR has now just proved tricky. If someone wants to seriously go all out damage-dealer is it worth it to waste all your slots for accessories and stats on STR or to assign a ton of attributes to STR? At the moment I do not really think so but I can not say that with absolute certainty. Regardless, STR "may" or "may not" be an important stat to consider....but when making an argument against someone with a VIT build (which at the moment breaks everything by allowing an insane survivability against anything) this is gonna need more testing... *sigh Below are his findings and my thanks to him and his tests: Round 1 - Koko Bow & Warped Arrows Entries - 235,212,206,205,214,204,213,146,144,147,135 Total Numbers (hits) – 11 Total Damage - 2061 Mean/Average – 187.36 Median - 205 Mode - N/A or all numbers Std. Though each battle most likely varied slightly this was the data taken and we didn't change much as we tried to just take the hog down in normal fashion with the exception of Krellis not stacking "Ferocity", "Raging Strike," and other helpful abilities in order to get the most accurate data on arrows alone. I am almost disappointed to report that lower tier arrows are causing higher average damage. One can buy 999 warped arrows for about 3k gil from an NPC vs. spending thousands for higher tier arrows and this is just bad news for crafters and also for the game as well. I mean for rounds 1 - 3 to cause more damage than rounds 4 - 6 made me a even more frustrated at how things are as of this post. My thanks to all Krellis for his participation and disappointing report. |

Mrd vs. Mites - A test of STR and DEX So with weapon tests actually more or less complete enough for me, I decided to venture out and test some stats a bit. I wanted to see if certain things we all put in our accessory slot and whatnot make a big difference or if I should just sort of save the inventory space altogether and not go overboard on certain gear. For these tests I equipped gear and applied the STR and DEX traits to bump up my own base stats. Below are my findings. ***Boar's Bane was equipped for all the following tests LVL 39 MRD vs. Molten Miteling (Lvl 39) Round 1: Baseline (no traits/rings/or accessories equipped) Time: 52.813 Entries - 151,154,144,148,156,159,827,181,366 Total Numbers (hits) – 9 Total Damage - 2286 Mean/Average – 254 Median - 156 Mode - N/A or all numbers Std. Dev. – 237.13 Round 3: +35 DEX (Total DEX = 114) Time: 50.424 Entries - 159,150,150,146,140,138,807,150,147,337 Total Numbers (hits) – 10 Total Damage - 2324 Mean/Average – 232.4 Median - (150+150)/2 = 150 Mode - 150 Std. Dev. – 199.77 Round 4: +STR & +DEX (Total 105 STR & 104 DEX) Time: 38.711 Entries - 160,159,163,153,152,153,824,206,393 Total Numbers (hits) – 9 Total Damage - 2363 Mean/Average – 262.6 Median - 160 Mode - 153 Std. Dev. – 211.56 Round 5: My "Normal" Play Stats+Gear (Total 95 STR & 94 DEX) Time:35.318 Fleet of Foot / Intimidation / Driven by Power II / Will to Power II / Complete Control II (*more on accessory gear I use later) Entries - 156,158,201,161,150,147,836,199 Total Numbers (hits) – 8 Total Damage -2008 Mean/Average – 251 Median - (158+161)/2 = 159.5 Mode - N/A or all numbers Std. Dev. – 221.99 Comments: After analyzing the data I noted that adding STR with DEX helps in comparison with the normal way I play but not enough for me to add all the gear and the rings needed for it to my already overcrowded inventory. Keeping in mind that a 5 to 8 second time window is maybe a simple axe miss or me being slower on a certain weaponskill or ability kept pretty much everything in perspective. Beefing up on a ton of DEX alone actually hindered my average damage (which is similar to the above Archer data) as it seemed even worse than the baseline data of Round 1. Yet again, I am really starting to take note of the STR category. Ringo's Archer had similar results so now, in my opinion, an addition of STR is going a bit out of the bounds of "marginal" average damage. Especially since certain attributes seem to do absolutely nothing and I can capitalize on those to add more in areas where I am really noticing a difference. I have also taken note that (delta)ranks of players and mobs are also factors to consider. It is hard enough to find the same level mobs to keep these tests as precise as possible (I gained 8000 SP just killing mobs to get the same level mobs to repop for these tests). However, much of a player's more important in-game life isn't spent killing weak mobs or mobs of the same rank, it's spent leveling and killing stronger opponents. So, to the satisfaction (and perhaps a bit of early game revenge) of many, I searched for bigger prey... Dev. – 189.60 Full Battle Log Spoiler: show Final thoughts: WTF SE!?!?!? *&^%$#%^&*! Whatever claims I wanted to make in favor of STR was just messed up after my tests against stronger diremites. The normal gear and traits I used had a higher average damage than the others. I even used less hits! Anything with I'd say 15 seconds of the lowest time posted I feel is ok due to cures performed in order to defeat some of the more annoying mobs that would spam their own special attacks. However my view on just bumping DEX shows that one shouldn't try it. It's horrible. It is also noted that some players feel STR and DEX go together and work off one another in some way...I can not prove or disprove this theory nor do I want to try to test it. Seriously lowering DEX is rumored to really mess with accuracy. I must say that I am in full support of equipping "Invigorate" on every melee job as well as "Raging Strike/Ferocity/Hawk's Eye." "Featherfoot" is very nice as well. A new patch is coming soon, and although I do not think it will mess up these findings entirely, I trust that over the next few updates SE will begin balancing the game more than it is at this moment. It is merely a gut feeling, but I still feel that perhaps "I just got lucky" here with my Round 5. I still believe that raising STR helps more than it hurts and quite frankly, I either plan to in the future...or compare my damage against a player of the same rank with the same gear and see just what a huge difference it does (or doesn't) make. For now, I am glad to be over the tests in this area. I now plan a side by side comparison in the mage department in the next coming post... |

Supafly Xarcabard Vs. Creonn Anatu - A Test of Spells and INT ![]() *note Creonn's on alchemist in this pic so consider that when looking at his HP/MP My thanks to Creonn in advance for helping with the data. CON vs. Coblyn So here we go, 2 Lalafells (1 balanced, 1 VIT build) showcasing just how much INT as well as a few other things matter at the moment... Numbers in parentheses represent the 1st Doblyn we killed, numbers outside the parenthesis represent the second doblyn we killed...It was the only way to really get every elemental spell off as many doblyns would die before we had a chance to use all of our spells. Results were: Round 1 – Baseline - Creonn lowered INT even further via traits ........................Total Damage – 1806................................................Total Damage – 1191 ........................Mean/Average – 200.67.............. ..............................Mean/Average – 170.14 ........................Median – 230..........................................................Median - 180 Round 2 – Supa goes INT boost - Total 116 INT ........................Total Damage – 1799................................................Total Damage – 1053 ........................Mean/Average – 199.89.............. ..............................Mean/Average – 131.63 ........................Median – 228................................................... This is an example of just how random and wonky SE's current battle system is. So am I out-nuking Creonn? The answer is an obvious yes but by seriously how much? Well let's look at total spells cast, the total, and average damage. Considering the total spells cast I am "regularly" out-nuking Creonn anywhere from 30 - 100 points on average. What does that mean? I am out-nuking Creonn by a total damage of anywhere between 250 - 600 Points of Damage which is about 2 - 4 spells. I almost needed to eliminate Round 4 to all the "Resists" but decided to include it. My own spells seem to improve but only by about 30 - 60 points per spell even with a +21 INT boost. Then I went with my own regular build (which didn't include INT rings) and did better on the average. The only thing to note is the mobs weakness (Sphene is listed as "earth-based") and the spell damage vs. wand/staff strengths and I'd say if one was to really factor all this in there is the "small potential" to critical a mob for almost double but it feels random and variable. Oftentimes, a spell/element only does about 30 - 60 points more damage if it varies at all. I may go out and test elemental wand vs Jade Crook one day out of boredom but for now it almost seems as if the wand did better. So now (for personal curiosity and enjoyment) I created a "perfect storm" scenario taking the highest damage from both members for each spell to really show some extra results. Dream Scenario (Max Damage Spells) ________________________Supafly Xarcabard____________________________________Creonn Anatu Fire II - ....................................253................................>..................................211 Blizzard II - ...............................413................................>..................................385 Aero II - ...................................488................................>..................................268 Stone II - .................................237................................<..................................312 Thunder II - ..............................332................................<..................................393 Water II - ................................281.................................>..................................199 Total Spells................................6........................................................................6 ........................Total Damage – 2004................................................Total Damage – 1768 ........................Mean/Average – 334.............. ..................................Mean/Average – 294.67 ........................Median – (281+332)/2 = 306.5...................................Median - (268+312)/2 = 290 ........................Mode – N/A or all numbers..........................................Mode - N/A or all numbers ........................Std. Dev. – 90.13...................................................Std. Dev. – 76.37 *Bottom line is INT matters but VIT also matters. One needs to stay alive while performing a good amount of damage against their foe. In long fights (NMs for instance) more than a few nukes are casted and all the damage can really add up decreasing less demand for MP over time. Yet sadly at the moment, DoTS are a big way to go. Looking at all the stats and data, I feel I can now start focusing on reallocating stats to find a "sweet spot" to create a best of all worlds scenario amongst all jobs. My only concern was in the crafting department (as it is noted/rumored stats matter there). My main areas of focus I believe will be in VIT (HP)/STR(how hard I am hitting)/MND(MP)/and INT(magic Damage). I have also been looking at a few characters (across multiple servers) and noted how they are currently allocating stats to get a better idea of what seems effective. ~ Supa *edit 06/06/2011* New Data on PIETY!!! Mages all know the effectiveness of DoT! Now one has to seriously consider PIE over INT...Kaeko Leta of Figaro has created a chart of the effect of PIE on DoT after noticing a few other THMS raising their PIE. here is his finding: "Some early, preliminary testing on the effect of Piety on DoT spells for Thaumaturge. This was tested by using level 40-44 Lemurs near Treespeak, which use a move called "Soil Smear" that transfers one negative status on it back to you. The idea is to land a DoT and then have it moved back to you, then see how much damage/tick the DoT does. Here are some early notes: DoT damage per tick is: - not affected by level of mob (tested from 40-44) - not affected by magic potency - not affected by magic accuracy (note this is NOT the land rate) - not affected by elemental attribute statistics - is reduced when using non-main jobs - is affected by affinity from traits - is affected by PIE from base allotment, gear, and traits Here is the proposed table of DoT damage per tick values for given ranges of PIE (includes allotment, gear, and trait, so this is your final total PIE). Again, this is a PROPOSED table since I have not tested the upper cap and PIE below 10, so some values are extrapolated. Proposed Formula: BASE + floor[(PIE-1)/10] Some things to point out: - Each DoT has its own base starting damage - Every 10 PIE increases damage per tick of all DoTs by 1 - Increases in damage occur going from X0 to X1 (e.g. 80 to 81) - The left table shows actual damage increase per PIE - The right table shows % increase in damage from the base (no PIE) - There may be a PIE cap - I have not tested this completely Given this early data, I think it is reasonable to rework THM stats to focus heavily on PIE (even near-maxing it). DoTs are generally seen as the best damage source for THM given the fact it ignores dLVL, has low recast timer, and has great MP efficiency. Maxing out damage from these should be high priority in both party play and solo play, especially given the lack-luster effect other stats outside VIT have on game-play. Given the new battle mechanics changes coming soon, the exact formula will likely change, but the overlying concept may not. It's very interesting to note that all DoTs increase at the same rate per PIE (1 to 10). This makes maxing PIE especially good for lower damage DoTs - namely Bio/Dia/Elemental DoTs. Something to consider for those interested in maxing out Thaumaturge play." source: http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/rc ... id=1882333

"After reading all this crap...What Gear should I look for now???!?!?" There is a famous quote about statistics by Henry Clay that says "Statistics are no substitute for judgment." This is only the data I have found from my tests playing this game and I am posting my own observations from them. Could someone prove something radically different? Probably, but hopefully they also provide their data as well as their process. so...without further ado... * It goes without saying that just about all lvl 25 or 35 NM gear has its uses as long as you are within an acceptable range of the gear used. A huge bonus is its free and much of the gear actually adds stats. This pretty much covers a lot of weapons and body pieces to consider until one reaches level 40+. I haven't tested the lvl 50 NM crafted weapons versus other weapons but I really wish one would.... *If you can, a HQ is an extra bonus for the extra DEF and stuff...but not an absolute necessity. HP gear/accessories is also nice Blue Coral Wristband (Black) consider 2 of those and you still have 6 slot costs left. I just use 2 of those, an Electrum Choker, and a Darksilver Ring for just about everything. Takes less inventory. Velveteen Acton (pick a color) Midnight Egg Cap or Silver Tricorne (you decide depending on the circumstances...wonder if there is a HUGE difference? No I'm not testing it. Depending on the job, look for high DEF gear that also have HP or MP added like Iron Sabatons and Iron Gauntlets. Toadskin Mitts and Vintage Hose for mages. Check the stats on belts For the price and probably the subtlest difference a HQ Tarred Voyager's Belt > certain faction belts (compare them yourself) I will not make a hard claim against faction gear. Is it nice, sure, but other than maybe the Buccaneer's Shirt which has decent DEF and +HP added to it for certain jobs that don't require plate or mail I don't see much I would really just categorize as a "need" item. |

These tests seem great but after reading ARC's part about two or three times now I still find myself lost. STR vs DEX is something I have been confused about since I picked up my bow. I have tried to mess around with it swapping out DEX and STR over and over but I'm merely eyeballing things (Not a good choice as math and me do not mix) and the only thing I've noticed (again through eyeballing) was that DEX without STR is pointless and vice versa. The BEST results I have seen is keeping STR and DEX fairly equal grounds (I believe I'm STR:155 DEX:153 in DD gear on my ARC) which makes me believe the game possibly works like Final Fantasy Tactics/Final Fantasy XII where you need to keep Attack/Speed balanced to see any improved damage. That is just my two cents, hope to see more ARC testing in the future stat-wise. ![]() PS: Again this is all eyeballing! :P |

I really wish an all out VIT build would test next to someone who has STR and DEX assigned just to see if there is a difference. I tested INT with Creonn but lost the data and have to do again so we will see what the difference between a balanced build and VIT build is as the week goes by and I get the data again. |
