So I was hanging out in Uldah and I noticed Bobby douching out with his Ifrit axe just like our good friends in Elite like to do. Feeling left out, I decided to join him:

So just how crazy is it to attach 5 materia? And knowing that, just how many materia do you expect people to realistically attach to their gear when we're talking good gear and good materia (read: expensive/rare)

When you're attaching materia of the proper tier, its fucking hard. Materia is split into the different levels: Tier 1 for 1-30, Tier 2 for 31-40, and Tier 3 and 4 for 41-50. The first materia you put on is 100% success. The next one you put on will have a different success rate depending on the tier of materia you are adding, as well as the tier of materia you already have on.

For example, putting two tier 3 materia on a level 48 item, you have about 28% chance success rate. If you go to place a third, it drops down to like 10% success rate. So getting decent materia on decent gear is fucking hard.

For this achievement though, you can place tier 1 materia on level 50 gear, and get a lot better success rate. When I did it, my second materia was a 48% chance success, third was about 36%, fourth was 28%, and fifth was 24%. Still pretty damn lucky that I completed it, cause I've had quite a few blow ups in the 20-30% range before this.
