Here are a few current and upcoming changes for anyone coming back this week.
* New jobs listed above, with new abilities and spells
* Moving while casting spells will cancel the spell
* Resting in your new private residence will give an exp bonus
* All food items provide an exp bonus
* Your %chances to HQ a synth will be shown on the UI
* HQing a synth will provide an exp bonus
* Synth touch-up is all-or-nothing
* Accessory slot cost is being phased out and replaced with 5 accessory slots
* You have a choice of two mounts, chocobo and goobbue

* Stronghold exp is really fast
* An in-game achievement system which rewards you with items and titles
* Stat allocation is different (and even the stats themselves have changed a bit), they are now allocated on a per-job basis
* Huge changes to actions: some are renamed, some are gone, many new ones, requirements are different, effects are different, each job's action bar is on a per-job basis, each job gets all of their job actions equipped, job traits are revamped
* Repairs aren't needed nearly as often and all items use the same repair item, dark matter
* They got rid of battle regimen for now, but they added self-skillchains.
* You can turn gear into materia after you exp while wearing it, although i havent tried this
* You can do a player search now through the menu, and you can LFG
* I'm pretty sure you can do a bunch more levequests if you want now
* Market wards are a lot better now, and soon you can search by item name

How many people are actually planning on playing again (if any) when the job patch hits? It's supposed to be adding two new raid dungeons as well as all the job stuff.

Problem is, if nobody's playing, we can't really do any of it.

guide to the soon-to-be-released classic jobs found here

Post subject:  Re: Get ready for classic jobs

Just a small correction I noticed Whisp:

Ever since they removed the guard ability and made shield blocking automatic, it's no longer possible to parry while a shield is equipped. Foresight is useless on Gla/Pld.

I'd suggest either Bloodbath, or triple up on Raise/Cure/Stoneskin. Stoneskin would be hard to cast while tanking without Sanguine Rite from THM to prevent interrupt though.

EDIT: Although, PLD also gets it's own Cure spell. When you cast the PLD Cure spell on somebody else, it also heals the paladin at the same time. Will probably make the cure spell useless unless the MP cost or amount healed is prohibitive. Protect also has questionable use because it's likely you'll have a WHM in your group casting it on the whole party. We'll see once they reveal it all I guess.

(PS: Everyone who can equip Raise should equip Raise, the new 5 minute recast timer is a killer.)

k i'll touch it up

ket, any idea what hallowed ground is? nvm found it: Grants imperviousness to melee attacks. Effect fades upon moving.

man this website is slow today

Author:  Ketrebu [ Tue Mar 06, 2012 2:06 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: Get ready for classic jobs

It's been slow recently because of some kind of stupid chinese web crawler. Something called Baiduspider.

Sort of like google's indexing engine. Except instead of just checking the site every hour for updates, there are like over 20 of these stupid chinese web bots scanning the site constantly, non-stop, all at the same time. (Look at how many "guests" it always says are on the site.) I've been meaning to ban the IP range but i'm not sure it'll keep them off the site. I probably need to block them from the web server/htaccess level.

Oh, and thanks for the list Whisp. Good stuff.

decoy isn't a bad idea for stuff like moogle eye shot, i'd probably equip it over hawk's eye where applicable. and yeah, what ket said, i like having stoneskin on gla. also sucker punch is dow only i'm pretty sure so you can't use it on blm, can replace it with quelling strike (it lowers enmity and grants tp on an attack spell also). same for whm, no sucker punch, there aint much choice for whm though, outmanuever or shield bash i suppose.

Patch is tomorrow:

Quote:
At the following time, we will be performing maintenance on FINAL FANTASY XIV to implement patch 1.21. During this period, FINAL FANTASY XIV will be unavailable.

As announced on the official FINAL FANTASY XIV Forums, we have identified an issue wherein materia attached to a player’s equipment may get lost when the server goes down for maintenance work. If you notice that your materia is missing after the conclusion of this maintenance, please place a GM call. A GM will conduct an investigation and provide maximum support to restore your materia. You can avoid running into this issue by equipping the item which the materia is attached to or storing it on a retainer before the maintenance starts.

This problem will be fixed with patch 1.21 and will not reoccur in subsequent server takedowns.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.

* Clients will update automatically upon launch after release of the patch.

* Patch download rates may vary depending on server congestion.

* Comprehensive patch notes will be posted on the FINAL FANTASY XIV Forums the day of the patch's release.

[Date & Time]
From Mar. 8, 2012 at 21:00 (GMT) to Mar.9, 2012 at 1:00 (GMT)

* The completion time may be subject to change.

[Affected Service]
