Damn that's a lot of people! It would probably be a good idea to wait until late stages of phase 4 to do a proper roster as people are still holding off until release. But very cool idea. Btw I am/was Che Guevara before I decided to switch back to Soul.

The in-game "Free Company" roster will be super useful for keeping track of active people. Firstly, a Free Company can now hold 500 people (linkshell still limited to 128). But more importantly, by default it shows how long since a person last logged in. If somebody hasn't logged in in 3 months, it'll be really obvious, as opposed to wondering if that person has simply been logging in quietly or at weird times of day. You can also boot people who aren't online, now. What's important to remember though is that you can only belong to one Free Company, as it is now the more strict definition of a guild. Linkshells are now treated like social chat channels. I know out of laziness and convenience we stuck to using linkshell chat, but come phase 4 we need to move across to using FC. There will be a few people that may not join us due to allegiances made in 1.0, and we can keep the linkshell for that. It's possible to rename linkshells now, so I've been thinking that come P4 we should rename the LS to "CKD Social" or something like that to differentiate it from the actual Cobra Kai Dojo guild. I know that, lots of people around here, including myself, don't take things too seriously, so being strict and serious with things like Free Company membership, permissions, rank, and chat may be awkward, but it's something we'll have to tackle, because we've now got to worry about things like guild banks, house/HQ ownership and chest/loot permissions, etc. In the past we've basically just given everybody sackholder, but that's not such a great idea, but I also don't want to annoy long-time members because they didn't get permission to the guild bank, or ability to recruit, or whatever. I think I'll have to make a thread about this one...

And while we may not take things "Super Cereal" all the time, having some ground rules, guidelines and such is not a bad idea, so I don't think it's wrong to expect that. If anything, it'll help us be a bit better at doing things in v2.0. There wasn't always roaring support for doing things back in v1.0, at least not back while I played. All that being said, I have no idea what sought-after items we'd be storing in the guild bank. We'll have to see. I foresee tons of one-off ingredients, or whatever. haha. Seems like any crazy dungeon loot would probably be BoP.

Yes, thanks for pointing that out. I edited my post after that lol. I meant free company. I like that everybody in the free company will be loyal to the same guild, and linkshells are just social.

I plan to be back full steam! I'm not if I will remain Tanag Kyte or use my Tanag Alexander alts name to keep that FFXI server name alive. Tough call! I wonder if they are still limiting server names as last names like 1.0 had. I have a couple RL friends that will be playing too. Talisan met a few of em back in the day.

I will be hitting release pretty hard, played a bit of beta, I know you all are way ahead of me and all that, but I will be playing with a few friends from wow as well, I just didn't move during p3because I had already put the time into one char to test things, but I'll join you guys come p4 as long as that's still cool!

Totally understand how you feel fattino. I would prefer to be ona fresh server myself.... but I'm only playing FFXIV at all to be with my friends from bygone days so i bit the bullet on that.
