Heavensward Opening Movie (Full)
WARNING: Contains huge spoilers for the 2.55 Patch Main Story. Do not watch if you have not finished the entire main story.
(Dead may want to keep some tissues nearby.)
Benchmark Video (Clip)
Short clip of some of the new benchmark, shows the new jobs.
(Stream rip video, will replace with better quality once one rolls along.)
Flames of Truth
WARNING: Spoilers for the Final Coil of Bahamut.
This is basically the "End of an Era" video with the Coil Turn 12 video appended to it. Since you can skip 2.0's Coil to do 3.0's Alexander, they've released an official version of the full video that 90% of the player-base probably never saw.
If you've seen "End of an Era" a million times. Skip to 5:35. If you've beaten the Final Coil of Bahamut, you've already seen this.
Slide Presentation
Information on various things they're adding/changing with Heavensward. These were all slides shown on the livesteam. See below for additional information they talked about while these slides were up.
9 New zones and areas. To be 50-100% larger than existing ones.
Approximately same amount of content in expansion as 2.0 launch.
Expanded with even more content every 3 months as usual.
Flying mounts unrestricted in new zones. Can't be used in old.
New Jobs start at level 30.
Limit breaks no longer shared. Each job gets a unique level 3. Existing LBs distributed to existing jobs.
Can become a "specialist" in three crafts, giving you special actions. Possible to change specialization. Can still level to 60 in all crafts.
Alexander Normal/Hard (Savage). Normal has no entry/loot limit. (Hard does?)
New fates, new quests, new abilities, new trials, new frontline, new gear, new new new, etc.
Allowed to enter Duty Finder with undermanned parties (enter a 4-man with 2 people, etc)
Additional loot systems for premade parties. E.g. Lootmaster, Auction, Greed-all, etc.
"Sync to minimum iLvl" Mode. Challenge old content as hard as it was when it was first released.
More Information
Things that were mentioned but are not shown on the slides posted above.

FINAL FANTASY XIV: Heavensward World Premiere
The video they showed during the test stream with all the jobs is part of the benchmark and was supposed to be released at choukaigi (2 weeks from now). Soken says they released that bit early to apologize to the fans for having delayed the expansion for a month (into the "not-quite-spring" date).
To fly, hold jump to gain altitude, look down with the camera to go down. Fly into the ground to land; walk off ledge and you fly.
Currently, flying mounts run at 90% the speed of ground mounts and fly at 200% the speed of ground mounts, but that might be adjusted, possibly up.
You can be safe from ground monsters while flying, and there won't be any "sky monsters" to harass the flying players.
There will be a quest to turn your companion chocobo into a flying mount.
There are plans to turn the current flying-like mounts (e.g. Ahriman) into actual flying mounts, but it won't be in 3.0.
Paladins will get an additional combo, alternative to Halone. It will not replace Halone though.
The new actions for combat jobs will need quests just like we've had to so far.
They will reveal the new Dragoon limit break at Choukaigi.
The new gear sets Yoshida revealed are from dungeon drops.
New crafter skills will come from leveling, class quests, and the Specialist system.
The Specialist system is meant to re-balance jobs so it's not like you need everything at max level to be able to do things. It'll still help, but the idea is to not make it mandatory anymore.
They are changing the starting points for the current Frontline maps.
New Monk PvP weapon will be a Dragon version of Sphairai.
Craft Housing = build a miniature house inside your house.
Airships will be assembled from 4 main components (e.g. bow, stern, etc; I don't know all them naval terms :D).
2.0 Content will have its difficulty adjusted.
Premade parties can go into dungeons with incomplete numbers (no mention of going alone).
"Syncing to lowest IL" = mode where everyone's gear is level synced to the lowest item level allowed for the dungeon.
The loot system is separate between Alexander Normal and Hard.
Primal battles will drop tokens (guaranteed drop) that you can trade for the item you want, instead of having to spam them until you get your drop. This is not exactly like how it'll work on Alexander.
Premade parties can check a "loot master" option, where the party leader decides who gets the items (no loot rolling). Yoshida mentions the possibility of "loot auctioning" (similar to what raid groups do with DKP, but possibly with Gil for PUGs).
Premade parties can check an option that disables the "Need" roll option.
Alexander Normal will work like the Crystal Tower worked (run as many times as you want, loot limited).
There will be future updates with details on each new expansion system (new jobs, etc).
(after showing a modified version of End of an Era updated for Final Coil turn 3): They will be adding Echo to Final Coil in a future update, before the release of the expansion.
I wish they'd make it so people that wanted to play the expansion (i.e. me) didn't feel like they'd have to grind out months of other content first. That's a huge turnoff

I had a similar "what the shit" expression to the Warrior when those dragoons came flying down like missiles and kamikazed that dragon at 2:40 of the HW trailer. I hope the main story is full of fucked up bonkers Dragoon action. Also,

Considering most of the MSQ updates were done in a day, you could probably get caught up in less than a week.

I'm in the same boat, tempted to come back for the expansion but knowing that I'm iLvl90 and the content is probably set for the current cap (120+? probably higher) is a major turnoff. It feels like I'd just have too much to get caught up with before I could start enjoying the game again.

Nah, you guys could finish main story and have the gear within two weeks tops. SE puts in all sorts of catchup shortcuts for people who want to come back...Unless you're planning on grinding out relic weapon. I haven't even bothered with relic weapons because the grind is so ridiculously boring and long. Also, you don't even need to do coils, so the gear you'll need to get through main story is like i100ish.
World of Darkness is doable with i90 gear and drops i120 gear that you can get as much as you want. Just by doing that you'll get soldiery/poetics to get i100-i120 gear. Do that for a couple of days and boom, you're caught up.

I feel bad about quitting. haha. The story was a ton of fun, and I enjoyed most of the game. Coil was a turd, and the housing thing pissed me off to the point of deactivating (like 2 weeks into a 6 month billing cycle, of course... haha), but everything else I really liked.
I'm sure I'll reactivate again at some point, but I'm not sure about right now. Almost lost all the weight I gained from playing MMO's again. lol. I miss everyone, though.

DX9 vs DX11 comparison gif:
P.S. Despite the increase in graphics quality, DX11 is generally faster than DX9, as it does a better job of offloading stuff from your CPU onto the GPU.
i have no plans to play the expansion. my complaints with ffxiv's direction grew too numerous. feels too warcrafty. need a slower paced game for socializing, keyboard and menu based, with no tiered gear progression and battles that don't require complex and unintuitive floor positioning.
and no daily/weekly to-do's ugh

I don't think they're ever going to slow down the battle tempo of the game. I really don't understand the positioning gripe; the GUI doesn't do a good enough job of letting you know to move when something is about to go off? As for dailies, they have 7 beastmen tribe dailies, DR daily bonuses, DR Ex Alex map daily, and Crystal Tower weekly. I know it's not much but it's at least something so far.

Yah, I think Whisp just misses 11, which I'm sure we all do to some extent. But as Ket mentioned in the Nuku thread, or whatever, it's just not something that would generate money today in the way MMO's did in the past.
I don't think it's a bad thing, though. Sure, 14 is theme-parky, like WoW, but that's not terrible; it seems to work for WoW. And I liked 14's environment and atmosphere a ton more, to be sure. Plus, it had all of you. haha.
