You're actually pretty good at photography, that could be a hobby in itself. |

You could use the madcatz mouse to craft his mechanical pet dog, since the design is so similar. |

ChickenNoodleSoup wrote: Not gunpla -- but similar hobby :D Never really tried a black background, may give that a whirl, but first need to pick up some higher colour temperature bulbs for my cheapo desk lamps. I use some cheap lights too and use white balance on my camera to get rid of some of the tint. my setup is a black felt background in a light box with two lights on each side. You using anything special to take the photos? I also really dig the black background set up. I'd like to start taking real pics of my figure collection, and not too sure where to get started. |

Nothing special really. all you really need is a table agaisnt the wall, black construction paper long enough for a background and to curve to the table, two desk lamps and something in front of the desk lamps to diffuse the light (no shadows). some people use white thin sheets, cloth. (theres a million tutorials on creating a lightbox for photographing objects) you can use any camera really, I use a DSLR(nikon) and sometimes a fuji point and shoot(model X10). the main thing is balancing the whites so to remove any weird yellow tint that the lights might have. you can usually do that in editing software or on camera if you have a fairly good camera. for software i use lightroom to adjust exposure, contrast and color saturation. I really like contrasty, bright colored pictures, I'm usually shooting in Velvia( fuji's version of vivid settings) because of its higher saturation of colors. Here are some more examples. ![]() ![]() these two were taken with a home made light box ![]() This one I used a black tile as the floor to reflect some light up. Slightly NSFW Spoiler: show |

Got around to buying 6000K and 5000k light bulbs. Tried a few shots. Need to fiddle with camera settings a bit, but now I can go around unboxing all my figures.

very nice, it seems like the tupperware is doing a great job at diffusing the light. at least there's no big shadows. |

Need to buy a new adjustable tripod, can't fold old mini one -- my hands can only be so steady. I really like the attention to detail they put in the embroidery on the figure. Was quite happy this one got a re-release.

Got around to getting a new tripod. Also played around with a few different backdrops. Sort of want to go prop/background hunting :D Want to try various gradient backdrops Attachment: Attachment: Attachment:
File comment: Yuzuriha Inori, Guilty Crown Used one of my dark navy blue fleece sweater as the backdrop, turned out better than I expected. yeah but then you are getting into the diorama area. which I wish i could do, but it would take up too many resources and time. I prefer taking some pictures outside. heres a couple of examples with some older figs. ![]() ![]() ![]() speaking of props I really like this one with the speakers in the background lol. ![]() |

I eventually will try figure pictures outside. Want to be more comfortable shooting on manual first as I just started fiddling with all this (lighting, manual camera settings) in the past two weeks, always shot on auto before -- hue hue hue. Right now, my picture are a bit too bright. It is easier to practice indoors -- can randomly set up and shoot anytime. |
