Germany 1, Poland 0.

Poland played very well; Poland's Goal Keeper was indeed the best player
on the field for Poland. Goal made at 91+' (46th minute of the 2nd half).

Nice game, very heart aching for Poland.

I enjoyed every minute of that game--very intense.

England 2- Trinidad & Tobago 0

Owen & Rooney both unimpressive for me, Crouch did what he does best & Beckham with lots of good crosses.

Terry's save in the first line was good, and that last goal at the end.

If we can play next game like we did in the last 30 minutes against T&T then I'm feeling good about this.

Any chance of a poster from Trinidad voicing their opinion? :P

The way T&T played, they deserved a tie. But let the best team win.

England... Eh not what i expected; specially against T&T.

Argentina vs England will be a nice game; england better step up.

England still failed to beat their archnemisis Sweden lol, I had to listen to the first half on the radio because visiting my brother in hospital, we missed sweeing Joe Coles opener by about 30 seconds.

Sweden were really good in this match, after they went 2-1 down from Gerrards second of the season, straight away the ball was in the England box for something like 4 corners in a row, disgusting defending by England to concede that last goal, it was like they were scared to touch it. I'm actually surprised we didn't lose by quite a big margin, so many shots cleared off the line , two hitting the crossbar...hate to say it but Sweden deserved the win more in the second half. (didn't really see first half due to being in a car, radio commentary can't really deliver things like which team is dominating)

We go through top of the group to face Ecudaor, seems Germany & England both want to avoid each other until the final.

But everyones worst fears are confirmed, Michael Owen's injury in the first minute has ruled out for several months so he will miss the rest of the tournament, such a shame; I remember the 98 world cup when he scored goal of the tournament against Argentina aged just 18, he's never really got that form back after lots of injuries and this is just another kick in the arse. Bad luck is all that stops us saying he will go down as one of England's greatest strikers.

Watching the highlights, it was so sad to see him singing the national anthem then 4 minutes later being stretchered off the field.

Can't they make some sort of rule in soccer (football, #-o CRIKEY!) to eliminate this stupid "Ow you hurt me, I'm in agonizing pain, someone call a foul owww" thing? I think they should bring a big mobile lie detector out on a tray and give them a test haha.

I agree, Owen really was injured and will be out for a long time but most players that fall to the ground rolling round are fine. In fact, it's been rumoured that Brazil, Argentina, Portugal, Spain & Italy have training in "How to Dive"...

Best ever fake dive must go to the Brazillian (Rivaldo ?) who had the ball passed to him by member of opposite team to take a corner, it hit his knee , he falls to the ground clutching his face, referee sees it and sends off the other guy. lol

Didn't someone get 3 yellow cards in one match? The ref forgot to give him red after the second one lol.

4 People have gotten 3 Yellow cards, but not due to
ref forgetting it.

2 yellow cards in 1 game = 1 red card
2 yellow in 2 consecutive games = 1 red card
1 yellow on first game, none on second, 2 on third = 1 red

In other words, 1 yellow card is nulled on the 3rd game.

It also means the player can't play the current game and the next upcomming game.

So couldn't a team just pay a corrupt ref to red card people over silly things?

Way too much power to the refs.

Fifa would most deff. kick, sue & revoke that ref and his license.

Couldn't someone just pay a judge to not put a criminal in jail?
Of course; everything has its chance of possibility.

Punishments for Ref's are very harsh.

Of course they can Ponuh, but generally speaking its pretty obvious when someone deserves to be sent off or not, fouls in soccer are pretty clear cut, a corrupt referee would be caught out easily.

deliberate handball, tackling but hitting the player first/missing the ball and bringing him down, obstruction with arms, any kind of violence, tackle from behind and general pushing shoving that you often get when going for high balls if you use another player to jump higher.

Honestly if you want to bribe an offical, its probably best to go for a linesman, they decide wether a player is offside or not (not going to explain it lol) which are by their very nature difficult decisions to make, it would be much harder to tell a corrupt linesman from a referee - although of course the linesmen don't have power to stop the game or call fouls, they just signal to the referee who then decides.

99% of the time the ref will agree with the linesman, the only obvious example I can think of where they didnt was the 1994 cup final, the referee decided that the linesmen were indeed corrupt and just ignored them lol.

edit because im posting too much in this thread: lololol Ghana got through ahead of Czech Republic lolololololololololol.

I watched it, don't think it will be an easy game for you.

Plus how you played really bad against Ghana, at least by Brazillian standards.

Well it wasn't all that bad.

We haven't seen Brazil play yet because they have only been scored
on once. The game that they get scored on is the game they start
playing. Japan vs Brazil was a game which 90% of the team,
was composed of substitutes; and still was a decent game.

France... Blah, dont really think they'll win.

Potential winners in my book are: Germany, Argentine and Portugal.

Argentina & Germany are playing in the 1/4s , a lot hinges on that game, if either team dominates the other to win then they will very likely go on.

You can't even bet on Argentina winning anymore here, only by the number of goals/ who will come second.
