lol I just got lucky. I was talking to random NPCs in the room, and talked to him. I didn't even know it was him. I probably would have been stuck also. That room needs a map!

Meanwhile,
I started using greatsword with Basch and Fran, but once I got masamune and Genji gloves I switched back to Samurai katana for Fran (SHE HAS COMBO FEVAR), and found a Golden Axe for Basch. Ashe is using a Deathbringer sword and Genji shield.

The Genji stuff comes from the hunt I mentioned on lhusu mines, it's 2 fights, you steal 2 pieces in each fight. The second fight is the one that took an hour with a level 58 pt lol. By the end Ashe was taking 2k-2400 per hit (with 6600ish hp using bubble belt), she couldn't stop curaja or she'd die.

For quickening you'll be shown the flashy atack animation, and in the bottom right corner of the screen is a couple lines displaying the next attacks you can do with the push of a single button. Really you need to have a few different quickening attacks for it to be worthwhile and make a quickening chain.

Once the animation starts, if all 3 lines on the bottom right of the screen are grayed out hit R2 to shuffle it and a chance at new quickening maneuver options.

I had no idea how they worked at first two.

I did figure out that you could shuffle the options. I thought you had to hold down L2 and R2 and it would shuffle them constantly and you had to press one of the buttons as they flashed lol. I got pretty good at it too (Its actually pretty easy to hold L2 down and just spam Triangle, X and Square, with a rapid fire controller this would be the best way to do it.)

So far the highest Ive been able to get is White Out. I havent been able to get Black Hole yet. I had 4, 2 and 5 as my closest chain (you need to do 4 of each level Quickining)

Oh and I even have the Strategy Guide lol. I dont really use it (I do use the giant map of the Licence Board) thought. I did read about how weapons and armor work. Thats why Fran has a Katana, because aparently the same value that determins your magic damage is the same that determins yoru katana damage lol.

The strategy guide for Quickenings was WORTHLESS.

And yes, 20+ hours in, I finally got other people quickenings and learned how to do it. Trying to kill the first wall cause apparently there's some treasure behind it... but I don't think I can kill it... Characters all lvl 18, too, but I only get it to half way (with ghetto-knowledge of quickenings) Gonna try tomorrow after redoing Liscenes and what not.

I beat the wall with level 19 and 20s. I had two level 2 Quickenings and one level three.

I managed to do a combo to get the Torrent blast thing. That knocked it down to about 50-60%. After that I just chipped away at it with melee (the three male characters). It was REALLY close though. I was about 1-2 seconds from getting turned into a pancake.

I have a question about Bazaars though. From what I understand the stuff that shows up in bazaars is based on what we sell. I just really dont understand anything else lol.

Also, I feel like getting Magic is really really slow. Am I doing something wrong? I still havent got my second tier of magic yet.

The items that appear in bazaar depend on what you sell to shops. It's like synth materials I guess, the shops need a certain number of certain items to make something new.

I didn't buy quickenings til the mosphoran highwastes, and even then it was just because I had lp to spare. Had I known having multiple quickenings/espers gives you extra mp I would have bought them much earlier. lol

Magic spells like fira, aero, decoy etc don't seem to show up for a while. Shop items just change the deeper you get into the story I guess. I think this is one place where the game balance is somewhat lacking. It's hard to have a real "mage" character when leveling up and acquiring lp occurs much faster and earlier than the ability to actually buy the spells and weapons you get licenses for, so you end up having hybrid characters, like our Black Samurai fran lol.

I have the book too but I didn't have a look at it til I beat the game, hence all the crap I missed. :x lol

By the way, I've been wondering this since I started playing FFXI and the option shows up in FFXII's config, what is flicker reduction?

Turn it on, should make a huge difference...

Yarr, that info about Bazaars is in the back of the book if you have it, and and is in yellow, I think... Basically tells you what you have to sell to get a certain Bazaar Item to appear, how much it costs, how much it would cost regularly, and what it holds.

Bah, so having lvl 18-17 characters giong in for the wall fight is underleveled would you say? :(

I completely demolished Garuda though... How do I summon it now?

Once you actually defeat an esper and not just a random miniboss with an indian god name it will appear on your license board :P

but you probably knew that and were joking around.

lol I did the whole Lhusu Mines part with just Vaan and Ramon (guest). I had all 3 other people out of party. I didn't know I had to swap them in. I thought it just showed them in party, but they were standing somewhere in the cave or something lol. I figured it out after the Mines and felt pretty damn stupid. Atleast Ramon is a badass and spams hi-potions.

Yeah guest members kick ass in this. I hated them in FFT where they basically just stole your medicine and hid in a corner.

lol thats an awesome comic. Im not a fan of the licence system (its only one step up from the draw system. The Esper or Materia systems were the best imo) that they used for FFXII. Its too easy to make a mistake as a newbie and trying to fix the mistake can cost hours of grinding. Luckly FFXI given us the skill to spend pointless hours farming pointless monsters in a pointless game! Huzzah!

I think of that whenever I go to fucking "farm" in FF 12

The only other time there was anything remotely close to farming in a modern FF was like FF8 drawing 100 of every new magic for each pt member.
