I CAN'T FUCKING BEAT THE FOREST DRAGON WELP WELP

Balthier is level 25, Basch is 22 Ashe is 22, Pene is 22, Fran is 22, Vaan is 22

I spent 3 hours today getting characters leveled (Balth started at 16) and getting money for better gear. I gathered about 60k and bought gear for everyone but this bastard is just too strong. Should I summon at the beginning for chain limit breaks? Also if I set up the Gambit "Ally: Any--Esuna" would it use Esuna when he uses that huge debuff?

Also where can I buy teleport stones?

That SporeFlail move is forward aoe only so keep your tank in front of it and everyone else to the sides or behind, this way all the debuffs only hit the tank. Make sure to remove Oil status immediately because once your oiled he'll firebreath and oneshot you. That's all I remember.

oh yea that battle. i remember it now. it was tough but as long as i kept larsa alive he kept using hi pots and x-pots on me.

also if i remember right you get Confuse status sometimes. just go to menu and de-equip weapon til you can remove it or it wears off.

Well as for confuse I killed a shitton of those marlboros outside so I have tons of Smelling Salts. How do I keep my people on the side of him? Just move em around?

If you have decoy, cast it on your tank and slowly turn the dragon away from your other members. Or you can just take control of them for a short time and move them yourself. I always liked to have my members in a sort of triangle around large monsters so they're out of aoe attack range but in range to cast spells on each other.

Ponuh.......I would first recommend that you have 3 "main" characters at the same level. Second thing is to just farm and steal your ass off and at the same time..level those characters up. I got a boat load of teleport stones from mobs along with items to sell. Go back to that last area and farm the chit out of those horse looking mobs with the horns. You can steal a item from them along with them dropping it that gets you a good amount of gil. I cant remember the item..I think its a mane or something.

I spent a lot of time farming/leveling in that jungle area. I farmed a total of 200,000 gil worth of Couerl Pelts and Marlboro Vines off multiple visits. It took a long time lol.

That stupid dragon was a pain. I hate the status inflicting mobs in that game.

To beat it, all you gotta do is what dead said, u just cast decoy on your tank, and have the other two members ranged. Keep decoy on your tank and have him stand on the opposite end of your party, this way only one person is hit with the status inflictions. Make sure you have removing status inflictions before attacking on the 2 ranged characters. Also about money: the easiest way to farm gold(not sure if someone has said this already), once you hit salikawood area and can fight king bomb without dying. Run into him, kill off his spawns and zone out. Once you do that just set a macro for the guy with thief's cuff on for him to steal from nearest visible, set him as party leader. Then all you gotta do is to zone in and steal from him, zone out. Cure up if necessary/hit the save point closeby, and repeat. Each time you steal you get about 1-2k of items. Fill your inventory up to 99 and go back and sell, keep repeating to your hearts desire. I got around 250k in a few hours of this total and was set on money for the rest of the game.

Beat it on my third try. Balthier has by far the most armor AND does the most damage so the mob stayed on him most of the time and he was the only one who got status effected. He died twice but I just used a PD. I'm in this fucking dungeon now to get the sword and honestly this game is really starting to piss me off.

So first you fight your ass off to get to the tribe so you can "learn to use the magic stone to fight the Empire". Then, after realizing they don't know shit you set off to go to that guy. Oops, the way is blocked, better go do some other shit for seemingly no reason in a mine. Great, the way is finally open. Gotta kill a dragon! Ok, got the dragon and i've FINALLY made it to speak with the dreamsage. Oh, but it appears the whole REASON for going to the dreamsage was worthless, so all of that time was wasted. But if we just get ANOTHER item that's even MORE powerful then everything will work out!

It just seems like all of the objectives of the game so far never pan out so it just sends you for some other shit. Now in that dungeon I'm fucked because there are like, 7000 level 30 mobs waiting to kill me in one room.

Stilshrine of Miriam isn't so bad, I actually liked that dungeon. The story opens up after that, and even more when you head to Giruvegan, which is a 2 hourish dungeon where the second half has no map. haha

The last dungeon in the game took me 5 hours and includes a boss which can inflict disease on normal hits. Fuuuun stuff.

Do not quit. Whole game is worth it for the cutscenes.

hahaha that is a little wacky. There is a lot of the story that didn't make sense to me. I wish I had time to play through it again.

No. I'm kind of just going through the motions, really. I want to finish the story because I'm interested.

Both of the bosses there were really easy; the first guy died by one quickening chain and the other lady was simple if you equip your tank with the dawn shard and an ice shield (he had like 40 something Magic resist) and all your other characters with an ice shield.

You can't as far as I know. I got tons of elixirs by stealing them of course. Ethers are normally insanely rare in FF games. I could be wrong and they are both purchaseable... doubt it though. I am level 83 with my main party and only have the last dungeon to do lol.

Ok. Who are the best people to steal elixirs off of?

2nd question: is there a point in the game where the parties have to split up?

Party never has to split up, you can drop your 3 least favorite characters and never level them again. Only time I used Vaan, Penelo, and Balthier was to swap in for quick phoenix downs if the main party wiped.

What? Balthier is awesome lol. Fran is obnoxious as hell and the voice actress is terrible. My party setup is Balthier, Basch, and Penelo (or Ashe).
