I honestly don't think 15BLM, 3WHM can kill all 5 AA's at once in Divine Might. The only guarantee I can make is that some of those AA's will start one-hit killing your mages until none are left alive...

You might be better off training PLDs and NINs to kite AA's...

Here's what we discovered.

Our attempts were-
Nuke the hell out whatever, die, reraise and repeat.

The first time we managed to take down the hume and get the EV to benedict. After we reraised etc at the end of it all the AAs had mere slivers of health.

The second time, we killed the hume and a mithra on the first attempt, and I'm not exactly sure what happened the second time. I learned that trying to chainspell stun EV (even with a jupiter's staff) doesn't do much of anything, and I took like a 1200 spirits for my trouble. (whee)

I'd like to get this done once and for all, heh.

With 11 BLM's the 5 AA had nothing more than 10-15% health after 1 wave of -ga spells. Considering the other 7 players were, 3 WHM'S 2 RDM's and PLD and a Dragoon. It is obvious that with 18 BLM's this fight should last nothing more than 1.5 mins.

Considering that one of EVs SPs is Benediction, it's not obvious at all.

you had a PLD and could only get one wave of -ga spells off? can't you get two of those off within 30 seconds? might want PLD to run in and invincible next time if BLMs do that much damage. When I did it BLMs couldn't kill shit...

Well thank you for your sarcasm and negative comments. The only real thank you I have is for Katariana and Hccmike who saved our quest at the last minute. Congratulations to the BLM's of Ifrit. Now we hold a record that will not be matched in a long time. \:D/

The fight itself only took about a minute. Just had to buff up, get into casting range etc.

It's ok Taquito, most people get all "OMFGWHATAREYOUDOING?!" when someone tries something out of the norm in this game.
Take a look at SMNx4 and BLM X2 pt. That's crazy XP! Most people would think omfgneedatank.

i guess those AA's aren't so tough after all for BLMs=) I wonder if an alliance of BLMs can kill hakutaku in one minute...

Yeah, I'm glad Taquito let me in to leech. I didn't even get to invincible though :( was expecting a bit more fun~ lol

The only AA that managed to get off their 2 hour was the GK, and that was Meikyo Shisui, and he didn't have time to WS anyone with it activated. After first wave of -ga, this was the life bars:

TT [|| ]
EV [|||| ]
GK [||| ]
HM [ ](Dead)
MR [ ](Dead)

Definitely one of the most interesting things you could ever see. I did manage to get off a Holy on the HM though to killshot him :twisted:

Lol, it's kinda sad that it can be done with just a huge squad of BLM like that. As much as I'm sure the BLM enjoyed it, I'm sure you'd come out of the battle feeling more rewarding if you'd actually done it "normally"

Don't get me wrong, lol, I know a lot of people there had already done it anyway, lol. I'm just saying that the Divine Might battle, when you fight it flawlessly, is one hell of an experience, and people really shouldnt miss it. :wink:

With all due respect, there isn't really a "normal" way to do such a hectic battle. This was just the safest option in my opinion, making it more normal than any other seutp this could have. And as far as rewards go.. well, the reward is the earring.. we have those now. Don't need anything else ;)

I went on this, but also did it the "normal" way previously, and I would say that I did not get the rush I got from doing it this way as I did from the normal way. The normal sucessful run I was on was far from a flawless battle, but it was by far the most incredible and intense battle I have partaken in.

Personally, I'm glad I put down the 6 hours, 9k xp and 60k in medicine for the experience of doing it the normal way first.

i don't really know why people are saying that taquito's way of beating this quest is not the right way to do it.
In my view, there is really no 'Right' way to complete a quest. What taquito did was attempt a tactic that was out of this world, a tactic to my understanding, where many people said that it would not be successful.
Sure the 'conventional' tactic would be to get multiple tanks to kite the AA's, and because most people use this tactic, many people have a mindset that this is the 'normal' tactic, which i think is incorrect.

SE made this game orientated highly towards party play, and they have made to the best of their power a party/combat system that is highly configurable and flexible. Taquito took advantage of this flexibliliy and courageously setup an alliance to defeat this Quest and i commend of this. He experimented with different party setups and thought of a setup that could beat these AA's as safe as possible, which i think is exactly what SE is trying to make us do, emphasised by the recent change in food effects, and SE wanting us to experiment with foods that best fits your job. Eg. instead of using the 'Conventional' mithkabob's for mellees.

In terms of satisfaction, i believe that taquito and his army of BLM's were very satisfied, some more then others. They beat the AA's in record time, and proved to the masses of disbelievers that this tactic CAN work and successfully win, which is something to be proud of. I'm sure that taquito and his army will remember their AA fight for the rest of their FFXI life and beyond.

What i rather like to see is for people to think outside the box. Maybe once in a while try something new. Taquito has spent countless hours trying to get this right, and infact, he failed on his first few attempts.

What i would rather see is more congratulations from people.

PS: please post pics, i really wanna see taquito and his army. TaruTaru POWER!!!
