Ok, some of you just have no idea what could be done in ffxi
with memlocs and hex editors.

Ok, maybe some of you have some idea of what could be done,
but dont be fooled by what some people say that might sound
outragious... could be just the opposite.

I, in the other hand, cant seems to find myself actually
acompleshing what this person claims to have, but could
be very dumb computer-wise compated to this peticular
fellow. I do however believe him, specially watching the
video he made, which is found here.

Quote:
First off, yes gold beds are programmed in... but i don't think they're available in game yet, like alot of items that are programmed in but not avaialbe.

After watching the video I thought the '.' looked familiar and I popped open FFXITool to confirm my suspicion. If you check under Object(C) of FFXITool at the very top are the beds, plus a bunch of empty items beneath named '.'

Sure enough, the first item under the Royal Bed matches the item in the video (table icon, . name, Rare/EX, description of -1 1)

snapshot of FFXITool
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v724/ ... fftool.jpg

also if you scroll down far enough (still under object(C)) you will find all the broken fishing rods.

[edit]so theoretically, If you figured out what was causing you to get the beds, you could adjust it to get any item in that list.[/edit]

Edited, Fri Apr 8 22:28:02 2005 by Phabin

[edit... again...]You know... I wonder what would happen if you were to introduce an item that technically doesn't exist in the game, but is programmed in, into the economy. a.k.a. giving somebody a Gold Bed that isn't supposed to exist in the game.

This is very true, i have seen videos of this done. And yes,
it was a japanese player pulling a cheap one. He got the "." as well.

Quote:
The '.' never became anything other than a "placeholder item", as you put it. It was just one of the several beds that I was able to fish up. Along with it were Bronze Beds, Mahogany Beds, Noble's Beds, Royal Beds, and a few others.

I tried putting the '.' in my moghouse once, but it had no item model, so just showed up invisible. I'll check my characters, to see if any of them have any of the '.' items still, and I'll upload a screenshot. (One was a rare/ex item, and there were 2 or three normal '.' items.)

Thats what the hacker said, and i do believe him.

Call me dumb , but since I have never played Diablo 2, what exactly is the fate of FFXI after seeing this.

Go ask every Ranger / Ninja you know how he got his money.

Oh and this program is what I used when I "experimented" with botting a while back(no, I never gained a profit using botting. I just wanted to see how far it could go).

How did you not gain a profit with botting?

Diablo II is completely different from FFXI. FFXI is an MMO and D2 was a little action game that could be played online. Two different beasts.

Sorry for the double post

I used a bot on my mule once just to see if I could program it. I was taking programming classes and wanted to see if I could learn more. Didnt make any money off it either because I was just playing around seeing if I could have it provoke Goblins and Bee's and crap.

Some of you are so unaware of things going on in
ffxi that its sad. I'll list a couple things i know could
be done in the game still.

Speed hack
Fish Botting (with new fishing system)
Farm Botting
Mine/excavation Botting
Travel (way point) Botting
Voke Botting (various)
Specific NM Botting (argus, Mee Dagi, etc)
Power Level Botting
Item synthesis Botting

After that JP program UltimaJ posted here i have my doubts
on what else out there can be done. The Teleport
hack (done with memlock reader/editor/freazer) used to
work, the server did accept the x-y locations.

There was an Item/Money dupe
There was a faster speed hack

Thats about it that i can remember. But i'm sure there
are more things out there that can be done.

Oh, and i'm not 100% sure of this, but i heard something
about you being able to cast spells without MP usage. (buffs only)
In other words, it was possible to self buff using memlocs.
Though i never seen it, i have heard of it.

There are also skill up bots that will stand and cast magic on you or others and rest when mp is low and begin again.

I took that as meaning to powerlevel a character not a skill up

I wouldn't mind a travel bot, haha. I have to keep running between towns and taking airships all day, especially when crafting. It'd be good if I could tell my PC to just take me to Sandy, lol.

But like I said earlier, I'm not ever touching this stuff, the risk (however little) is just too great in my eyes.

Here's a little bit of more proof to the whole story:

I believe him.

Any of you out there that played the first Generation MMORPG's know hacking and botting very well.

I was an advocate from the old AC days. I remember ACTool before it was ACTool. They work.

SE has done a really good job keeping that crap out of the game. But I know for a fact that ACTool works and works damn well depending on how into it you wanna get. (elaborate mining scripts - fishing bot scripts...) Most have been tagged by SE to fix. Which is better than what AC did. (they built the programs into the actual game...)

As for making a Kraken Club out of nothing. Am I the only one who's changed his moogle? Mine appeared as Shiva for a long time til I reinstalled. This was a common hack early in the game.

As for the game. It's another level of annoyance. SE banned a whack of accounts they've been monitoring and I applaud them for it.

It's immoral, but in a realm where morality is defined by text and no real life repercussions... doesn't seem to be a problem to most...

I take more satisfaction out of earning my spoils instead of hacking them. BUUT - I'm not innocent there, AC was all about the tool for me. Crafting macros, buying and selling macros. Everyone I associated with was doing it and some made millions - levelled off it - you name it. Well heck, I was going to do the same - somewhat.

Difference is - I like FFXI - AC was just like crack - loved to hate it.

Not so much for ACTools itself, but its support
for outside programs such as FFACT
which is a very hardcore program made specifically for FFXI.

If you are walking, get disconnected but not long enough for the game to crash and your connection come back when you are a few meter away, are you teleported back to where you were when the game lost contact with you, or you stay to your new location?

Dupe Bug - Can I have it? Do you need it?

/laugh w/ Kaylia.

That's why you get the message that you're still in the world and to wait a few minutes for it to reset. :)

Countermeasures - damn them.

I never got such message.

I remember running a long time while being dc (modem was unplugged) and stayed to the location I was once it was reconnected. This would mean the position is somewhat calculated on the client side.
I was wondering if someone could use that to send false info to server and teleport himself somewhere :?
