We have recently discovered some of our players to be using third-party "hacking" tools to move their characters instantaneously around dungeons and battlefields alike.

In FINAL FANTASY XI, the use of any software or hardware not provided by or approved by Square Enix is strictly prohibited.

While we make no specific official announcements regularly to this effect, we do in fact implement a variety of devices to counter such behavior with each version update, and we duly punish any and all players we find to be using such tools. In today's version update, we implemented counter-measures to address the irregular movement described above.

We can and will take further action as necessary against players caught using similar tools in the future as well.

Some say its the speed hack, some say its teleporting.
I say its teleporting as i have seen it done many times.
What do you guys think it is?

Well, considering Pix was in an IRC channel with a bunch of people who were saying they used the speed hack, and SE were probably doing the emergency maintenance to fix it... :P

Speed Hacking has been around for a long time.

I remember there was a utility that overclocked the ram or some
sort of software acceleration tool that made you run faster in FFXI.

The teleporting is something that i have seen it myself and never
really looked into researching on it. But i saw the same person doing
it in Castle Oz & KRT.

There was like 4 or 5 threads on KI, I can't find anymore so they probably were deleted, showing a hack with permanent strider boots without the boots or other speed enhancing items, a way to teleport back and forth between 2 points, and a way to levitate.

This was all from a JP player who recently quit and gave out the hack on a forum or something.

Obviously I haven't been following it closely but the videos were very disturbing.

I'm glad that they are trying to address the issue but people will find a way around it they always do and nothing is ever a gaurenteed fix.

Oh well it doesn't stop me from having fun with my LS buds.

And personally I don't even have a windower so you can't even try to accuse me of having these things. I have a laptop, so its pointless for me to download a windower when I can grab the laptop and and keep myself entertained while standing around in my MH or something.
